Speculation not just on Twitter is they are going to show Metallica's live performance from their show in Texas with enter sandman. Also note the different kick off time this week at like 8:18 so this seems pretty likely

We should demand that Va Tech play Freekbass when we run out of the visitor locker room! That'll really silence the crowd!!

Liam better back up that trash talk that’s all I’m gonna say.

I love harmless trash talk so long as it's backed up. Wonder how BK viewed it lol.

What position was the player who got kicked off the team after their ODU loss? Was that DE as well? Also, if I recall, he was their best DE?

Yes, DE. Updated injury report from donbest.com below. Not sure if we was their best, but he was at min a key contributor, and led the team in sacks.

Game at VT affirms assets Notre Dame brings to ACC - Daily Press

This VT writer did a pretty nice job of talking about the benefits of ND being a partial member in the ACC, football withstanding.

We are making that conference a boat-load of money, contrary to the beliefs of a lot of the fans of ACC teams who were griping about our football team "costing" the conference money and not wanting us unless we joined fully in every sport.

Not to mention, as he also points out, we've given the ACC a lot of marquee match-ups in the most prestigious 8 pm slot on ABC since 2014.

- FSU 2014
- Clemson 2015
- don't want to talk about it 2017
- VT 2018

I hope we can turn the corner on those prestigious time slot games. We've certainly done the ACC a lot of favors by losing all those games...

I knew someone was going to take that post in that direction, and thought about getting ahead of it, but the past is irrelevant to the game at hand on Saturday.

This is the best D we've had since 2012 (Dominant defenses travel better than dominant O's), we've more than likely learned our lesson on preparation after last year's debacle, and we were a *hitty PI call and a two point conversion away from completely different outcomes in the first two.

Horseshoes and hand grenades. I'll be at the game and I'll be cheering, but they need to show me.

This.
Nothing is a given. I'm more optimistic this year with the D, and now since the change at QB on O, but until we do it, the past matters.

I’m definitely more nervous about the environment after reading this. Unveiling a monument to Beamer, Enter Sandman possibly streamed live, Ticket demand higher than any other game. Yeah the stadium is going to be rocking. But as many have said, it’s time to put up or shut up. Come out and execute and hit them in the mouth.

If we all want ND to be at the top of College Football - which we do, then this is always going to happen. Everyone is going to go all out with these matchups and throw their best 1-2 punch to knock ND out on national television.

Gotta expect it and embrace it.

Metallica live stream is cheesy as hell.

It would sound way better if they just played the album version properly mixed.

But ya... go ahead.

IDK... if Lars and James give a personal pep talk, that would be pretty cool. IMO, not about the sound.. just the volume + liveness will more than compensate.

More for the fans than the players. Most players probably think they are just old white men screaming.

Why would VT use a video of Brian Kelly to pump up their team?

I tend to agree. I mean it seams like a good idea, but there's no way it's going to sound as good or loud which deminishes the effect.

Horseshoes and nuclear bombs. It's been proven that sometimes "close" is not good enough for a hand grenade, but you can be "close" with an nuclear bomb and it will count. :rbanana:

BK is pumping in crowd noise and "ETS" during practice this week. The players should be accustomed to it when they get to Blacksburg.

I keep worrying about our run game with TJ Jr hobbled, Armstrong out and Dex likely limited to 15 carries. I completely forgot about Avery Davis. While he may not be a true RB, I think we can use him on some designed sweeps.

And of course, we can always use a fr RB if needed.

If TJ Jr. can give us 5 I think we will be in ok shape. That allows up to 20 for Dex, and 5-10 more for Book, Davis, and a frosh. Manageable at least, even if not ideal.

Why do you think Dex is limited to 15. I think we see Smith and maybe CBo along with AD. But I think Dex gets 20 or more again.

I think we will see Jahmir Smith take a couple of meaningful snaps this week, i.e. not garbage time carries. I think he looked pretty good in the 4th quarter against Stanford, caught that nice little shuttle pass from Book when he was escaping pressure if I'm not mistaken, and showed decent vision and an ability to run through tackles for some extra yardage.
