what is our injury report looking like this week? what about Temple's injuries??

Only ND names I saw were the 9 "Out for the season" crowd.

Temple had two "Out for the Season" previously with two "? Saturday for ND"

DE Sharif Finch Knee
S Will Hayes Hamstring.

Preseason Steele has Hayes as a Startering S and Finch as #2 Rush DE. Both are Srs.

lol, I knew this would come, but that Temple blogger is now chugging the Kool-Aid and is predicting a Temple win:

https://templefootballforever.wordpress.com/

I love his assumptions, he did this back in 2013 too. He keeps harping that nobody thought Memphis could beat Ole Miss, and they did, so Temple is going to beat the Irish. He's also making comparisons to our 2013 team, and while he says we're better than we were that year, the Owls are exponentially better. I love Tommy, poor kid gave it his all, but Kizer has turned into a pretty good QB. I would say our team is at least as improved as Temple is between the depth we now have and the mindset of this team. The best is where he says since Temple beat a tough ECU team by 10 points away, they should have a much easier time handling a "similar" Irish team at home. I hope we stomp these guys, they're getting big heads and they're delusional.

This guy is the biggest homer in the history of sports and I love it. As I recall, he predicted a Temple win back in 2013 and went on to say he thought they would win 10+ games that year.

Temple is a great school, and the football program is really on the rise. Matt Rhule is an incredibly impressive young head coach. Temple and Matt deserver all the respect in the world for what they have accomplished.

But, if Coach Rhule openly and honestly commented on a post like this, based upon these suppositions, and errors in logic, he would scratch his head and say thank you very much, and walk away from the conversation immediately.

One of the best thing the coach embodies in the Temple program is when he says he will say nothing bad about the opponent because they allow the team to actually find out how good they really are. If you watched his press conference, Coach Rhule’s theme was, “We have a chance to show how good we really are!”

He followed that with how incredibly talented this Notre Dame team actually is. (Original starters out and all.) He followed that with the fact that this weekend was already a win, because it showed the world what a great place Temple was, and really helps with the future of the program, etc.

Just an example of how your logic works (only from the other side) : The Notre Dame team you face has many of the same players that played in the 2013 game as well. But many of them have been beat out by younger players that have increased the level of performance tremendously, the speed, size, strength, stamina, and depth of team ‘127’ is off the charts compared to what Temple has seen.

Finally, good luck this weekend. I hope the Owls do play well. But be kind to yourself and the team if the results don’t go your way. Some have said this is the biggest game in Temple program history. That I cannot say, but I do know you have never played a team like the one Notre Dame brings to town this week!

So that dude went from being a beat-writer to being a complete homer?

I love it.

As Bogs states, though, his logic in every single point he makes is flawed lol.

I have to admit that his confidence makes me (just slightly) nervous- perhaps because we all know that he and the Owls have nothing to lose.

Play well Saturday out of the bye week....that's all I'm asking at this point.

Don't want the same feeling I had after Navy last year.

I don't think it's confidence, I think it is a lack of awareness. He believes what he writes, but only because he doesn't know better.

He compares ND to Ole Miss and Florida as two of his major pieces of evidence... the problem is that there is no basis for his comparison aside from wishful thinking lol.

Don't let it make you nervous.

That SOS really pops out to me. That's what makes me think ND will show they are a contender and Temple is a pretender from the words of Kelly.

Low end of ND scoring range "17 points" --- almost hilarious.
High end of Temple scoring range "36 points" --- sure.

Analytical basis of this system must be grade school arithmetic level. SOS means nothing to it.

Bottom line: We fast. They not fast. We good conditioned. They dominate 4th quarter not happening.

They try hard. They lose anyway.

The Owls rank No. 5 in the nation in one of the most important statistics, scoring defense (14.6 ppg), ahead of Ohio State and Clemson, and it is no fluke as they returned all 11 starters from a defense that finished No. 4 a year ago. Notre Dame ranks No. 14 in scoring offense (38.3 ppg). The Irish should have a tough time scoring against this defense and, if you cannot score, you cannot win.

I love how he throws out their scoring defense rank, without it being adjusted for opponent, and claims how great they are. In the same sentence he give the scoring offense rank for ND which is top 15 (not adjusted) and says if we can't score, we can't win. I'd buy that argument if we were ranked 50th, but c'mon man...

Yeah, back in 2013 he thought they were going to pull the upset and go on to the national championship or some crap  Rhule moved their former QB to H-back, and Gibson thought they were going to throw 500 Flea Flickers to win the game. They never pulled one out, and he cried about it afterwards. He always starts off conservative at the beginning of the week, and then goes full Kool-Aid man by Thursday/Friday. He pulled out a bunch of bullshit "facts" in the last meeting too to support his reasoning why Temple was going to win. My favorite was he compared games against similar opponents each team played in not just 2012, but 20-fucking-eleven! To go beyond that, he even made comparisons to teams Temple played one year, and then compared how we fared against the same team in a DIFFERENT year. For one, the Transitive Property in football doesn't really work, but it's even better when you're comparing teams in different years to each other.

More Mike Gibson talk. Pulled this from the comments of his blog discussing Gameday being at Temple:

yeah, there’s no way any of these nd idiots would have found the Bell Tower; that’s why I preferred GameDay there. I will be at Indy Hall, though.

He also doesn't think much of our pass defense, lulz

I’ve always said that the best pass defense is putting the quarterback on his ass and that will be the case on Saturday. With us, our pass patterns have been quick and short passes, getting 10-12 yards at a time, so it’s hard for people to mount a pass rush against us. Them, they like to take shots with Fuller deep, so that should give Ioannidis, Robinson, Nate D. and Finch time to get to the QB.

He keeps touting their #5 ranked scoring defense as the reason Temple is going to win. He says we're not getting yards on the ground against Temple.

It's not hard to have the #5 scoring defense and shut down running games when the rushing attacks you faced are as follows:

Cincinnati-34th
UNCC – 57th
PSU – 93rd
ECU – 100th
UMass – 119th
Tulane – 121st
UCF – 127th

Our defense would look like the '85 Bears if that was our competition.

Our 85 Bears allowed three times as many rushing yards vs. our common opponent.

The total rushing yards are deceptive, they got most of their rushing yards on that one big play. Yeah, we gave it up all the same, but that doesn't change the fact that USC probably would put 50+ on Temple's D. Also, despite giving up all those yards, we gave up essentially the same number of points to UMass that Temple did, with one TD coming in garbage time, and two TDs coming off busted/trick plays.

Probably. Same as the way the Colts were talked up heading into the Patriots game. When there's a game that common sense says will be a blowout, you talk up the underdog to give people a reason to tune in.

Yeah I'm just having a hard time believing Temple is that good.
