Who would be the P5 school in New York City?? Rutgers? Syracuse?

Rutgers.

*Just saw asked a different question from what I was talking about. The answer to your question is None of the Above.
I said Philly is the largest media market without a Power 5 school. That stands. Rutgers is only 10 miles or so from Staten Island so it's in the NYC media market. That and its AAU membership are the only reasons it's in the B1G.

How do you mean?

From the article, the data doesn't support that Rutgers is the majority. It's fairly diverse, although certain teams do well in different parts of New York:

New York City has its own set of divided loyalties, but the passions tend not to run as intense as they do in other cities. In many parts of the New York region, the leading team — often Syracuse, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers or Michigan — claims only about 10 percent of fans. Notre Dame does a bit better on Staten Island and Long Island, Syracuse in Westchester and Michigan, oddly enough, in Midtown and lower Manhattan, as well as parts of Brooklyn.

Since I haven't seen a prediction thread I'll posts mine here. ND 42 Temple 20

If Temple scores 20 points, *&*()&()()*()*)(*)+__++)

If we hadn't given away two red zone scores might have shaped up pretty good in my prediction. But, sadly I did get Temples score right. Just glad we pulled out a W.

I didn't say they were the most popular team. I just said they are the only P5 team IN the New York City media market. That's all.

Being from close to NYC (Go ARMY Beat Navy) I can assure you that Syracuse is the #1 team in the state. Rutgers is the most popular team in NJ, but not NY.

There is a very large Notre Dame minority.

All that being said, people don't really care about college football in NY State or NYC. It's a pro sports town.

The most successful college athletics program in the region is located in Storrs, and plenty of fans travel to NYC for big games. If we are talking about an ACC fit, I don't think Temple can be fairly placed ahead of UConn.

It's not about what you've done, it's what you brung.

UConn = #30 media market. Philly = #4.

I do agree that UConn fits and should be in the ACC someday. Especially if the SEC grabs Va Tech and NC St. in the next round of realignment.

The guy is laughable. I know there are homers for every fan base, but I just have a hard time believing someone can be this big of a homer for TEMPLE. Just amazes me.

I had a pretty good track record of silently trolling the site, but it looks like one of my comments was just removed by Mike. I posted the figures on how ND/Virginia had more total viewers than the Temple game, refuting Gibson's earlier post, and now it's gone. Oh well, fun's over I guess.

One last parting shot...in their picture gallery Gibson put up today there's a picture of the handshake between Kelly and Rhule where the caption is "Rematch in bowl season, okay?" Gameday in Philly, Temple 7-0, and it was the biggest game in Temple history. They basically blew their load on this one and still came up short, and they want a rematch on a neutral field? GTFO.

SBNation's Bill Connolly just published a Football Study Hall on the Temple game:

1. Temple had turnovers luck and drive finishing on its side, but it wasn't quite enough.

2. Man oh man, Temple can tackle. So many times, an Irish ball carrier had the ball in space with one guy to beat, and that guy brought his man down.

3. That pass to Will Fuller for the game-winning touchdown was beautiful (even if the angle taken by the tackle was awful).

4. That KeiVarae Russell pick that sealed the game was even more beautiful. He came out of nowhere.

I'm forever jealous of any team/program that consistently tackles in open space... even now.

Temple losing not good for ND. We need them to finish in the top 25, and hopefully with a single loss.

More from Mike, he can't help but drop our name after they get embarrassed by USF.

https://templefootballforever.wordpress.com/2015/11/15/getting-the-defensive-swag-back/

So now the question that needs to be answered is how to get that defensive swag back that the Owls had against both Notre Dame and Penn State, two teams that are arguably—and the stress is arguably—better than Memphis and UConn. Wins over Memphis and UConn is all that matters now and the way to get them is to follow the same schematic blueprint—with a few tweaks—that worked so well on defense against ND and PSU.

So yeah. Apparently there's some doubt whether we're better than UConn or Memphis, because his instance of using "arguably" insinuates that the case can be made that either team is better. This is UConn we're talking about, who is 5-5, and Memphis who is a respectable 8-2 but was blown out by Navy and is 0-2 in the last two weeks. This guy is hilarious.
