Who brings more fans to South Bend this year between Miami and Duke? The showing of Canes fans in Chicago was underwhelming.

I was actually impressed in Chicago. There were more Canes there than I would have guessed, but obviously my expectations for their turnout was minimal at best.

Probably Duke. Their fans will probably appreciate a trip to ND for the actual experience, and there is a decent chance that they are 3-0 heading into South Bend.

I would say Miami, but their schedule before they travel to South Bend is pretty brutal, and the "New Coach, New Hope!" bump will have worn off by then.

Only pockets of Miami fans at the Sun Bowl. Those near us showed up drunk and quickly lost interest in the game. Probably a costly flight from Miami, but if you commit to going...

They now complain their new stadium, which is now not in a questionable part of town, is too far - 17 miles.

Why Sun Life Stadium Just Isn't Working for Miami's Football Program

The author proposes they play their home games in the MLS stadium that seats 20,000 - the house that Beckham built - "just eight miles away" so they can get a home field advantage.

Don't get me wrong, their fan base sucks but I will say 17miles from Miami's campus in S. FL is a solid 45-55 minute drive.

Key UM player's status in serious jeopardy; Heat signs two interesting prospects after the draft | Sports Buzz

Key UM player's status in serious jeopardy; Heat signs two interesting prospects after the draft
Noon update: UM junior Juwon Young, who was expected to get playing time this season, is away from the team and his status for next season is in serious doubt as UM investigates a potential NCAA violation involving the linebacker, our ace contributor Peter Ariz and I have confirmed today.

Multiple people inside the UM football program do not expect Young to be on the team this season. One source cautioned that he's in limbo and it's still possible he could return but he's not in a good position.

The matter, according to a source, involved Young gaining use of a luxury vehicle from a car agency. It's unclear if Young paid for the vehicle or if he intends to.

UM also is investigating whether standout defensive end Al Quadin Muhammad was involved with this car agency and whether he committed an NCAA violation.

Muhammad has not been cleared, but he remains on the team, according to a source with direct knowledge. Multiple sources told Ariz that they expect Muhammad to be on the team next season.

UM, whose NCAA probation is ending in October, is investigating both players' involvement and would report the matter to the NCAA if it confirms any violations occurred.

After appearing in four games in his first season (2014), Young had 57 tackles, including three for loss, one interception and one forced fumble in 10 games last season.

He was expected to get playing time this season, potentially behind freshman revelation Shaquille Quarterman at middle linebacker.

Muhammad is expected to start at defensive end if he's cleared. He had 54 tackles and five sacks last season and is UM's best pass rusher.

A lot of people on here, myself included, really wanted Muhammed.

What is the deal with Miami's schedule this year? Through four games, Appalachian State is the toughest competition?

I will laugh my ass off if Appalachian State beats Miami!

An article on Muhammad's (DE) and Grace's (LB) dismissal.
UM dismisses two of its best players

Juwon Young (LB) was previously dismissed. Muhammad, Grace and Young were Miami's three leading tacklers last season.

His (Grace) departure means it’s likely the entire linebacking corps of starters will have never played a college game. Of the five contending to start, three are fresh out of high school, one redshirted last season and one is a sophomore who was fighting for a starting spot but was trailing by a bit in the competition.

True freshman Shaquille Quarterman, out of Orange Park Oakleaf High, is a lock to start at middle linebacker. Contending to replace Grace are true freshman Zach McCloud out of Lantana Santaluces and sophomore Charles Perry of Royal Palm Beach High. Battling to start at weak-side are true freshman Michael Pinckney of Jacksonville Raines and redshirt freshman Jamie Gordinier out of Redbank Catholic

Two of their incoming freshmen ('16) have now cleared admissions. Deonte Mullins and Cedrick Wright - both from Miami - Gulliver Prep - needed to take on-line courses to qualify.

Gerald Willis (DT) has been suspended for the opener against FAMU. Willis transferred from Florida where he was dismissed in Feb '15. Mark Walton, RB, who was suspended for DUI, is off suspension after charges were dropped.

Sam Bruce ('16), their highest rate signee, may be suspended for two games after a photo emerged showing him with a gun.

Miami's NCAA suspension, which resulted in the loss of nine scholarships over three years, ends Oct 21, 2016.

As may have been posted, Trayone Gray, backup RB, and Lawrence Cager, WR, who may have contended for a starting position, are out for the season. Both had ACL injuries.

Miami has five players who have transferred into the program - Gerald Willis (DT from Fla), Vincent Testaverde (QB, from TTech), and, in the last year, graduate transfers Adrian Colbert, DB (from Texas) and Gage Batten (FB, transferred from Auburn) as well as George Brown, Jr (OL from LSU).

Four Miami true freshmen started last week, including all three linebackers. Thirteen of the eighteen freshmen played. Of the other five, one is serving a three game suspension, one is injured and the other three are likely redshirts.
