Fine. It was less down-to-the-wire than some of our other wins. But it was a close game. They're still a talented team. We're not as good as we were last year.
Just as much as I thought some people were needlessly pissing their pants about Arizona State 36 hours ago, when I hear talk that this next one should be a rout, I think some people might be underestimating USC. That's all.

I agree, this has always driven me a little crazy. The sports TV media keep showing that 4th down play where that SC fullback dropped the pass in the end zone as if the game hinged on that play. Even if USC had scored there, we still would have had the lead and a chance to ice it. It would basically have been just like last night's game. The score would have been closer; that's all.

Terrible? They are 3-2. Sagarin ranks them as his #35 Team, one slot behind Michigan and two slots behind ND.

They lost to WSU by a FG while Sagarin says they should beat the Cougars by a FG. A 3 pt spread either way. What should have been a close game and was. The Cougars aren't a 2-10 this year.

They also lost to ASU, a 4 point favorite, in a game that was close until sometime in the 3rd Q when ASU put up to quick scores, one via a turnover, to open up a 2 TD lead. USC ended up losing by 21 and Kiffin got left in the parking lot, making USC a better team by subtraction. Sagarin would make ASU a 7 pt favorite today.

TYes, they're hurt by sanctions and injuries but still have an incredible array of talent. And without Kiffin's temper tantrums, they probably are a better team than they were.

How much disarray USC is will be demonstrated Thursday night when they play Arizona. Vegas has USC a 5.5 favorite while Sagarin would make USC a 2.5 to 3 point favorite.


As of today, Sagarin would have ND a point 0.09 favorite over USC on a neutral field. ND would get 4.28 for Home Field Advantage, so make ND a 5 pt favorite.

Tony Dungy just said on the Dan Patrick show that he was contacted by USC and he has no interest.

sounds like hayden wants to clean up the image of the program a bit. I would be surprized if its not Del Rio.

I hope its Orgeron. That guy is an idiot. When he was the HC at OleMiss, he would speak at the clinics in MS. You couldn't understand half of what he said because he would get excited and start talking like Farmer Fred from "The Waterboy". Remember, Ole Miss ran him out of town for handing the Egg Bowl to Miss State. I can't remember what it was he did exactly, but I remember saying at the time, "Holy Sh1t, he's giving the game away!" He is a great recruiter no doubt, but he is worse than Kiffen with his temper tantrums. I hope he gets a 10 year contract to usc!

Sucks that you couldn't watch practice, but I can totally understand the coaching staff trying to limit distractions and shelter the team as best then can.
It will be interesting to see how well they respond this week against Arizona. I'm not sure about the mental fortitude of this USC team, Kiffy didn't seem like he would be a good coach at developing a teams mental toughness.

Me either. Any team that can complete short routes to tailbacks coming out of the backfield can score at least 21 against us. We do a poor job letting running backs get easy releases to be matched up against our slow inside linebackers. We also are capable of shooting ourselves in the foot offensively. So, I do not expect this to be an easy win.

I love this fanbase... a week ago we couldn't beat anyone... now we should be more than a two touchdown favorite against SC...

I am thinking the same thing. The ASU gameday thread was so schizophrenic. i wonder what two weeks off will bring.

Every year I think I can't hate a team more than Michigan. Then the USC game comes around....


Didn't realize this was our bye week. I really like that we get to take a breath after an upset victory and regroup for the second half of the year. Nice that we are resting up with mid-terms and fall break on the horizon.
