Why the aversion to a night game? It cools down considerably after sunset. With a 1:30pm MST kickoff, the temperature will likely be in the mid-90s. (Too damned hot for this late in the year).

Night games are a totally different feel I feel like and ASU seems like a legit home crowd. I would rather play when it's a little bit warmer then play in front of a ruckus crowd at 930

5:30 est time kick-off....shit I better hang my tree stands fast as I will be driving into Michigan from Florida (leaving Friday) that day. Damn it for some reason I thought the game was 7:30.

This x100. I'm more worried about the crowd than I am with warm temperatures.

Bugz,

I'm here to give you another hour of drinking!

With DLS ending on Nov. 2, Arizona goes into the MST zone and therefore kickoff is at 1:30p local. So buy another 6 pack and enjoy!

Same here. Had big tailgating plans, actually, with baby-sitters lined up and everything. Now it'll be a stretch to even make it to a game watch on time.

Other Phoenicians might disagree with me, but I don't think Sun Devil Stadium is an intimidating venue. ASU has very little tradition, the fans are mostly fair-weather, and the students are more concerned with getting drunk and laid.

And I say this as the son of an ASU alum who pulls for the Devils whenever they're not playing ND.

I agree with you which makes it a great environment for a college student but it is not an intimidating place for a visiting team.

Just gonna have to get up earlier. At least this might let me nap after the game and go out Saturday night. Typically I'm too tired to want to go out after the game.

The only time Tempe is on par with football back east is when there's a good game with the Wildcats or maybe SC when they are on top. I went to the Mizzou Black Out game that was Disney's national night game and it wasn't even an ND / Air Force atmosphere. Georgia was the same, Georgia's fans were louder than ASU's.

As a Chicago pro sports fan, I can tell you it is the norm for Chicagoland teams to have better turnouts than the home teams when playing in the valley. Bears, Hawks, Cubs... hell, even my Sox were 50/50 with the DBacks the last game I caught.

I imagine ND will have the same type of representation.

Agree with you and Whiskey. Been to quite a few games over the last 4 years and have never been very impressed with the crowd. This year seems to have a bit of extra excitement surrounding the program and I've noticed a slight increase in crowd activity but nothing to be scared of.

OK, now that we know the weather will be perfect let's talk about some other goings on that day.

This will be ND's first non-night game on the road since the Pitt game in Sept. 2011. That's amazing. It would have been the night game but Bama is at LSU the same day and that date and time was set in stone from the minute the game was scheduled years ago.

I wish FOX would have gotten the game but they may have been contractually obligated to the Big12 that day because Baylor is at OU and K State is @ TCU (a 2 loss TCU squad coming of an L to WVU on the 1st).

Oregon will also lose (outright) @ Utah later that night... or so I will be telling Vegas.

A night game would have made for a great day in the sun tailgating but having some cold ones with the ND Club of PHX until 1pm will have to suffice. Hopefully, this will make up for the '06 Fiesta Bowl that I had to miss because of work travel. My Valpo crew tail gated with the Samardzija and Zbikowski families all day. The hourly updates were cruel, especially since I was at Hooters in ice cold Schaumburg, IL for the game.

It's gonna be a big day all the way around, I think the Irish go to sleep as the soon to be #3 team in the country.

You are correct NDCrusader. Completely slipped my mind AZ doesn't roll the clock.

Buddy said the earlier kick off sucks for tailgating but afterwords is insane. Had to ask if it was still insane when they lose

Saturday nights on Mill are always bumpin if you are college age up to mid 20's. The douchebag detectors start beeping once you hit 27 unless you got a baby face or prove that you are working on your PhD.

If you don't make the age cut-of, you head to Old Town Scottsdale if you want club action. I will warn you, if you are allergic to Affliction t-shirts on guys who work arms 6 days a week and wear bedazzled bitch jeans to cover their pencil calves... steer clear and find a grown up bar where the big game cougars are hunting. It's like the grown up version of Padre Island or Daytona from back in the day.

My favorite part of the Valley is you could go to the dirtiest, crappiest dive bar anywhere and see better looking women than even the fanciest places in the Midwest.

*The best bet for 30 something guys visiting would be the Arcadia part of Phoenix/Scottsdale. Old Town and Mill are a fun scene, but definitely more for the college folk. There are some good, laid back bars with good looking young professional women.

Sounds like heaven for a disease free 30 something male from the region. I'm there.

There are a few killer places in Arcadia. Postino's and Arcadia Tavern to be exact. Women out the yang BUT if you want the REAL cougar / Wifey's World action you have to head up to NoSco to the Kierland / Scottsdale Quarter areas on N. Scottsdale Rd.

I personally find this joint to be better than ANY place on the planet and I am a self proclaimed big game hunter... though recently retired thankfully!

any good mexican restaurants around the tempe area?

Just like Vegas... depends on what you want: Authentic sit down, taco joint or commercial interpretation. There are two joints I like in that area, Sombrero's and America's Tacos. America's is known for their award winning carne but their al pastor is completely off the hook.

Now, if you wanna see trim, go to Z'Tejas outside Fashion Square Mall in Old Town Scottsdale. It's about 5 miles or so from Sun Devil Stadium. Food is... um... I don't know to be honest, Margarita's are huge and premium. The place is right next to Kona Grill which is another cat trap. This is world class talent, believe me. Just bring your A game, ladies are skrong in Old Town!
