I've got 2018 feels all over again. Sure ND's defense is really good, but I don't see ND putting enough points on the board to hang.

I don’t get the love for Clemson’s defense especially the secondary. They’ll also be down Xavier Thomas and Tyler Davis on the D line. Obviously it’s still a good defense, but this isn’t the suffocating Clemson defenses of the past few years.

I also expect their QB who I will not even attempt to spell will play well, but this is also the best, fastest defense he will have played in his entire life so far. I expect him to over trust his arm, which will lead to at least one INT.

Win the turnover battle and ND will win the game.

Not counting his reps against Clemson's D in practice?

Idk about y'all but both times the refs announced targeting, I was holding my breath, fearing that they'd announce #14 or 6 were disqualified for the game.

Taking out the Book stuff, my primary concern is which team shows up?

The team that played GA tough twice? Probably should have won one or both, just needed to make a few more plays. The team was mentally ready and pretty locked in. The moment didn’t seem to overwhelm them

The team that was humiliated against Bama in 12, Miami at Miami a few years ago, Mich last year, Clemson after the injuries got us at the wrong time? We were not ready for the moment. I’m not saying we should have won all of those games, but the talent was not THAT far apart (even the Bama game). We seem to be nervous and tight in some of these games and our play calls reflect that unfortunately. There seems to be this tension on the players/coaches and when one or two things go poorly - the dam busts and we have a 5-10 year embarrassment to live with (it seems unfair that the big losses stick to us more than other teams).

My hope is that we see the 2017 USC type game where we force the other team into mistakes, open the playbook and let the talent play fast/loose. That game might be my favorite regular season game ever (also 93 FSU). I so badly want Book and BK to start to turn the narrative around about ND against elite teams.

Sellout shut down Etienne, make Ukelele move it on man CB coverage which sets him up for Hamilton to come snag it. I wanna see some exotic blitz's from JOK and Kiser too.

Keep Simon on the bench unless Kiser asks for a breather and even then, bring in Lamb.

Are we building any boats to burn this year? I just have visions of Clemson capitalizing immediately and exposing our D when Love left the game against them. Whether or not a freshman QB in his second start can make all the right decisions is a different story, but teams seem very adept at scheming for us. Offensively for ND, please don't play a side to side or end around type of game, won't work.

Agree. Clemson will be too fast for these. Gotta run right at them and throw in some draw/counters to use their speed against them

Honestly after watching the Clemson BC game I’m just as worried about the BC game. We’ve shown let downs after bigger wins (I.e. Michigan ‘18 followed by ball state) and after big losses (I.e. Michigan ‘19 followed by va tech sleep walk)

This shocks me. I think Clemson is still 2 tds better than us even without Lawrence.

You're worrying too far ahead.

There seams to be speculation every year that Kelly and Co are holding back, or not showing their entire hand. While this is likely occurring to some level, it isn’t going to be as big a factor as some think.

The FACT is the brand of football being played at ND is a winning formula. A defense that keeps the points down and an offense that controls the ball, as well as limits turnovers. They will no be playing swing for swing with Clemson. The game plan will stay relatively similar and ball control will be the emphasis. I, myself, believe this is the best chance to beat Clemson.

7 point underdog at home against their backup QB who is a true freshman. Kelly and them boys better feel disrespected as all hell!

Kelly needs to go all out Lou Holtz Miami week. We have no chance why we even playing...next day maybe we will be able to play with them for one quarter...etc

This should be a solid game. Last time we played these guys literally everything went wrong (flukey plays, injuries, that garbage fumble recovery that the officials somehow didn't give ND) and ND's defense still looked like they belonged out there.

Hoping the defense can stand tall again and that the breaks don't all go against ND. Offense needs to move the ball. I dont think we need some stellar performance. If they can play at an upper-tier P5 level, they should be able to move the ball and get some points.

The offensive line is very good, the tight ends are very good. The backs are pretty solid this year. Obviously the wide outs and quarterback are less than stellar.

I hope we see a good bit of play action. Keep the defense on their toes a bit. Hopefully wear 'em down as the game goes and maybe get our first win over a #1 in....idk how long. The 90's?

Somebody has got to tell Book to take some shots downfield. It really will help out the run game and underneath stuff even if it isn't completed, we don't need him to be Brady Quinn or Jimmy Clausen but we do need Clemson to respect ND's ability to throw the ball down the field or else Williams and Tyree are going to be running into 8 man boxes the whole game and thats not a winning formula.

If we play the way we've played all year, we arent going to win this game. If the guys come out with the right mentality and play 4 quarters of good football though they got a shot.

Please take some shots down the field. Please run north and south. And for the love of God, please don't get embarrassed in a prime time game. My heart can only take so many of these beatings.

I think what you saw was Clemson suffering a little mentally from the loss of Lawrence. They woke up at half and throttled BC in the second half. Our D is as good as Clemson's. Phile will get some numbers, but I saw a number of plays from him especially in the 2nd half that looked like a freshman.

I'm excited for this game. The speed of our D is so much better than what is was the last time we met and our depth is better. If Hayes continues his GT play this week, it will be huge. JOK plays bigger when the stakes are higher. I would love to hear BK's speeches everyday this week as they start & finish practice.

RTDB - This Clemson defense is young and haven't experienced an offensive line like the ND O-Line.

I expect a tight game - hope it's a fun weekend...

Wish it was going to be like 40 degrees with some windchill for those South Carolina boys. Looks like 60 and clear

If we are smart we RTDB and make the game short. I am not convinced their d can match up with our TEs though. I think rtdb and play action short passing game , move the chains and kill the clock is out best shot.
