"I was speaking to coach Mike Elston while in the stadium and he pulled me aside to let me know they were offering me a scholarship," said McCoy. "Then, later, I met with coach Mike Denbrock who solidified that they were offering me a scholarship and spoke to me about details about the school and how well I would fit into the program. When I was first told, I was sort of in shock that such a football powerhouse was offering me, especially given I'm only a freshman, but they made it known I was well deserving and I had a future there."

"This offer is massive and means the world," said McCoy. "People, including me, dream of attending a school like Notre Dame and being offered so young, it's a feeling and experience with no comparison."

"Being spoken to by coach Kelly had a huge impact on me," said McCoy. "Having someone speak highly of me and say from evaluating my ability that I'm good enough to play at a school like Notre Dame meant a lot to me and made a huge impression with me."

"I got to speak with coach Denbrock and it was a conversation I will remember for the rest of my life," said McCoy. "Mostly because of him openly telling me they are offering me a scholarship and then following that by making comparisons between my current high school, Mater Dei, and Notre Dame. He was showing how similar they are. Also, we spoke about what I need to do to keep improving not only as an athlete but as a student."

"It was an amazing experience," said McCoy. "The campus was beautiful and the coaches were very welcoming and genuine."

This kid is unreal. Glad to hear he was so ecstatic about the offer. Would be great to get this kid but it's a long road to signing day '19. I love that he's coming to II.

Four-star athlete Bru McCoy, the nation’s No. 3 athlete in the 2019 class, said his family and him are fans of USC, the early Crystal Ball favorite.

McCoy (6-3, 205) could play wide receiver or outside linebacker on the next level. He also lists high interest in Alabama, Nebraska and Michigan. McCoy said USC, Alabama and Michigan like him as a wide receiver while Nebraska offered him as a linebacker. He’s open to play either side of the ball.

Um so someone just put on the 247 message boards that Bru Mccoy may be leaving USC. Loy responded but I can't see it. this cannot be legit right?

Not sure about what Loy is saying, but Bru wants a waiver to transfer to TX.

Hopefully this means Kyle Ford is probably reconsidering as well.

He did say right before signing, that he was told KK was staying.

First off, you can’t be that naive and think Clay Helton will be there for your 3 years of college. Second, you heard the rumors of NFL teams interested in Kliff before signing day. On top of that, you know Tom Herman has his dream job and is there for at least your next 3 years, but you’re signing with USC. I guess being a 5 star recruit isn’t included in decision making skills. I think it is going to get messy

IMO, he wanted to play for KK. He purposefully got them on record saying KK would be back, in the case he needed leverage if KK left. I doubt he gave 2 shits about Helton.

So if that is the case, and he is able to make the jump via the leverage, perhaps he is better at the game than we think..

But did he really think the USC OC would last 3 years? It is just terribly silly to pick a school because of a position coach or coordinator. I know how hard it is not to do that, but marry yourself to a head coach and a school that you are excited about. Coordinators are moving more than ever in the college football business. Chip Long is about to become Brian Kelly's longest tenured offensive coordinator at 3 seasons! Saban goes through coordinators like Jeff Gordon went through tires.
