The fact that fans are completely checked out about this game says a lot. VT is going to be infinitely more amped for this game than ND. I do not understand the point spread.

I think ND fans will get over being shook if ND comes out and actually plays a complete game... otherwise, we've all seen how ND can implode in November after a bad loss.

Hashtag FACTS.

Most Notre Dame (post-Michigan game/post-‘93) fans are likely still seeking therapy (aka alcohol) for ND-ED.

Since Vinny Cerrato's guys graduated that year ND hasn't had much of a package to erect.

I mean really, ND should start by asking for silence in the stadium (as if there'd be anything otherwise), having bells rung on campus, then playing For Whom the Bell Tolls. Then the players exit the tunnel.

I don't know. I think the team comes out pissed off. There's been a lot said of them this week, should stir up some emotions.

This is the first ND game in a long time I just don't care about. Even in losing seasons I watch every game.

Willingly raking the leaves over watching the game. Probably a 31- 21 win, and people will think Book and the offense is good again.

I hope they play younger players and get a W.

Maybe. But they weren’t going to say “this team has given up.”

Same here about not caring. I even watched every 2016 and every 2007 game. Now it's like there's absolutely no difference to me between 8-4 and 10-2.

JFC. It's like some people have never seen us lose before. What program have you been watching for the last 25 years? Last week sure sucked but it's time to move on.

I still think we've got a good team and they'll play like it today. The defense especially. Win 21-7 or something like that. Would like to see Phil get some meaningful snaps and some of the younger receivers get a few targets.

A-f***ing-men! Anyone who "doesn't care" about this game because of a bad loss last week should prolly just go take a lap. It's clear they've lost site of the condition this program was in not all that long ago. 10-2 is still a milestone achievement and a NY6 bowl victory would be the biggest accomplishment in 25 years. So please, for the love of God, gents- pull the string out.

Interest in CFB in general is declining. Look at stadiums and ability to get fans in.

Saturdays are valuable. And they should be. Interest in watching ~9-3 teams with no shot of winning anything that matters is not a valuable use of my time, every Saturday. Im sure others who aren't posting feel the same way.

This is a problem for schools committed to coaches and programs who will never win it all (BK).

And for CFB in general. I truly believe they need to expand it to 8 so fans don't check out so early. Then wven if we don't have a realistic chance to win it all, we stay locked in for longer out of blind hope because we're in the hunt.

This is completely fair and I agree with you. However, insinuating that people who still choose to watch are blind homers or Book/Kelly apologists is not fair (from earlier responses). Sometimes, watching football is just cathartic and a way to blow off stress.

I said "every time". As in I'll still watch this team this year, but Im not cutting out every Saturday afternoon or evening to do so.

I didn't mean to sound pretentious - there are Saturdays where I don't have anything better to do and will watch them. But this Saturday raking (which could be moved) is taking precedent. And that's new - I don't know if ive missed a game this decade.

Has part to do with obly 4 teams mattering. Has part to do with knowing what we'll get from Bk and Book.

Hey, those leaves are a force to be reckoned with, man. So, I get you. But take a break at halftime and see what the guys are up to. Hopefully, it will be better things. I mean, we still have a pretty young team. Many of these guys are still growing into their collegiate skills. If anything, do it for the Kyle Hamiltons in the B&G. Kelly might not be forever, but the gold helmets and ND are.

I have mentally taken the week off.

Going through the Bob Davie, Willingham, Weis, some Brian Kelly years I will take this start over the majority of them in the past.

Hell to the yeah man, well said. I may go thru periods of ND-inflicted depression, but I'll tune in every Saturday til I die, barring my daughters wedding or a funeral or something (and no guarantees there lol).

Watching Maryland’s d control Michigan’s O in the first half much more convincingly than ND’s d last week is disconcerting.

I will throw this at you for your attendance comment. Away game at Georgia their largest crowd in attendance. Michigan in a down pour their 2nd largest attendance to only our last night game their. People are still coming to big time games and to see ND. I don’t t know the stats on our home games but big game on the road they are coming.

Hopefully they come out with fire. I hope that they have moved on from last week but still have a little bit of a bad taste in their mouth’s.

Those were big time games because we were still in the hunt.

Now no one gives a shit. That's my point.

Only 2 teams mattered for the 14 years before the playoffs, what's changed that the playoffs need to be expanded to keep fans interested?

Most years of a fan's life, his team isn't going to sniff a championship. Even Bama fans older than twenty-five have lived that reality. Saying games don't matter because you're not going to win a NC means that 99% of games "don't matter."

Not surprising; Michigan isn't good and has lost to the two good teams they've played.
