By Sagarin's Nov 3, 2018 Rating (this past week) ND would be the favorite over Syracuse at Yankee Stadium (a neutral site therefore No Home Field Advantage) by from 8 to 15 points depending upon the various Sagarin Models:

HTML:
Model Rating Points Golden Recent
Points 8.70 8.24 12.77 14.89

This game worries me because we tend to play conservative on hitches and shorter routes. Cuse will make us pay if we come out of the gates playing a soft cover. They also still have big play ability with their tall wide receivers.

FSU could have marched down the field a few more times had their wideouts not started dropping the ball like a hot potato in the second half.

This game scares the crap out of me. Since Cuse lost to Clemson, they have been playing very good football.

Our defense has not looked right in weeks and I worry if Book is not 100%

Love Wimbush but if he is QB we have no shot at beating these guys. Also special teams needs to play lights out and the DB’s can’t sit back and give cuse 8-10 yards because we will get killed if that’s the case. I’d honestly drop one DL guy and rush 3 and mix in some all out blitzes like last night when Gilman almost got a sack I’d like to see more of that. Rumor is gameday is going to Orlando to watch the boring UCF and Cinn game

This is 100% false.

Syracuse is having a good year but I'm certainly not going to lose sleep over them.

Whats the best defense against a good offense? Time of possession and scoring. I wouldn't be against it if Kelly and Long can come up with a game plan where they slow things down, still be on rhythm, and still efficient.

This Syracuse team gave up 44 points to Pitt?? Ehhhhh

I try to not over-analyze garbage posts, but I think I speak for 95% of this board in saying we all wish you'd just stop for like the next two weeks, please. You say the dumbest stuff and contradict yourself within minutes sometimes. Often that's a sign of intentional trolling, but I think it's more you word vomiting your direct stream of consciousness onto the page without pausing to think for a second.

First of all, Wimbush is not a consistent passer like Book so obviously the offense has more potential to struggle or implode with turnovers if you're asking him to distribute the ball. We all get that. But saying we have "no chance" to beat Syracuse when we've seen Wimbush beat teams like Michigan and PAC12 Champ USC is not factual and very stupid.

Second, there are 21 other players on the field. The defense can win the game. The running game can win the game. If the OL plays how it did last night for the remainder of the season ND is going to be hard to stop, period. They gashed a very solid run defense for huge gains basically all game. Florida State has the #33 rushing defense in the country by S&P+ and ND went for 300+ yards... Syracuse has the #77 rushing defense. So stop with the myopic bullshit.

Sorry Yeah we have a chance but look at last night if we don’t get two turnovers in our redzone and if FSU punches that score it it’s now 28-20 too close for comfort. Game could have been a lot closer. Dungey is probally the best QB ND will face all year

Lol so, yeah, if a few things that happen in football games wouldn't have happened, it would've been a closer game. Did you know that if Notre Dame wouldn't have scored then FSU would've won 13-0?

Also, "player x" will be the best QB Notre Dame will face all season has been said at lest 3 times.

I was very interested to see that the game predictor that NBC was using last night had us losing to USC as more likely than Syracuse. Any stat heads want to explain that to me?

You said this perfectly. So my post is just so that it gets seen again.

NBC is using the "ND is 3-7 @USC over the last 10 trips nervous nelly" predictor.
honestly in my gut i'm as much or more concerned with USC than Cuse as well.

Shit man we're two games away from the playoffs. We could be playing the teletubbies and I'd be nervous about it.

I wouldn't be nervous if we played Citadel (Bama), Idaho (Florida), UMass (UGA), Liberty (Auburn), Rice (LSU), or Chattanooga (SCar) next week......... lol

Is this being played in the Quiz Bowl? If so, the Crusader+ has LSU as a 13 TD dog.

This game will depend on a lot on how the defense response to Syracuse’s high paced offense.

Yup...controlled pressure on the QB and not giving them the short/quick hit passes. I think we will score on them. Special teams have to not give up the big returns...obviously.

That must be that very important,“extra datapoint” we always seem to be lacking.
