Loy is having a heart attack on twitter about how great of a recruiter Stamford would be.

If Stamford is all he's cracked up to be, I'd rather have Denson - someone who's younger, and more appealing to recruits and willing to put in the work. Offense will be in good hands between BK and Stamford. Don't need so many cooks in the kitchen. Get players, get a grinder.

Sanford.

It's Sanford.

Cooks to OU
Alford to OSU
LaFluer to NFL
Elliot off field role.

Todd Lyght replaces Cooks.
Sanford hired as OC/QB.
Is Quinn in/out?
Denbrock no longer OC?

Elston to LB?
Who for DL?

These are my burning questions right now. Will this move result in a net loss of coaches?

On running the ball: “When you look around at championship teams — conference championship teams and national championship teams — they can run the football. Your foundation is being able to run the football. Teams that throw it 85 times a game, you’ll put butts in the seats and you’ll have some stats that you’ll hang your hat on, but at the end of the day to win 11, 12, 13, 14 games — those teams can run the football. That’s something that I believe in.”

I am ready for 2015! Hire Quinn and Bryant Young and perfect.

This is very intriguing. I hope this works out for ND. Seems like a great hire for the program if they can make it happen. Solid football coach.

Absolute home run hire. BK injects some life on the offensive staff, adding a young guy with the potential to grow into a fantastic coach, while at the same time already being a brilliant offensive mind and a guy that can fill the recruiting coordinator vacancy if needed.

Anyone know much about the offense he ran at Boise this season? I didn't catch much of them this year.

Their QB threw for 3,696 with 23 TDs and 14 INTs but completed 70.8%.

Their RB ran for 1,823 and 28 TDs and the backup went for 592 and 8 TDs.

3 guys caught over 50 balls (1 was the RB), and top guy had 877 yards.

They averaged 39.7 points per game.

Honestly, no reason that cant be duplicated with our current roster. TO's gotta come down tho no matter who is behind center.

Depends, take a look at Boise's schedule. While we have superior talent to Boise, their opponents are a significant downgrade to ours.

I don't necessarily think that he needs to duplicate that type of production to be quite successful here.

II said Quinn could potentially take TE and assistant HC. Then Elliot could move to an admin position, Booker to safeties, Lyght to CBs.

There are plenty of guys without a lot of coaching experience that can do the job. To me the key is finding out, if they have the passion and are willing to be hard workers. Look at Brad Stevens. The guy was working for Eli Lily quit the job to take an assistant position at a much lower pay rate. In the blink of an eye, he takes Butler to two consecutive NCAACG's and now coaches the Celtics. Frank Vogel is another example. Very little experience gets thrown into the HC position after O'Brien is fired and turns out to be pretty good.

Would be on board with that hire! He's a young guy who would bring energy to the QB room.

Kelly must have read my post.

But the question still remains, would BVG take over the DL or maybe the Elston news was wrong or was dependent on getting a bigger name DL coach. That would put you at the limit for coaches with Lyght, Quinn, RB coach and Sanford coming in to replace Alford, Cooks, Elliot, Lafleur.

It hasn't been decided yet and I think this is why.

I agree with all.

Just was thinking how we have one true starting RB and a very capable back up (RB ran for 1,823 and 28 TDs and the backup went for 592 and 8 TDs.)

1800 yards is a long stretch but folston had 889 last year, he passes 1K this season and Bryant had 289. 500 isnt a long shot.

We return all wr's (3 guys caught over 50 balls, and top guy had 877 yards.)

Only Fuller had over 50 catches this past year, but CRob and CB each had 40. Fuller obviously had more yards.

Yeah, I could see maybe the news about Elston leaking out early before it was decided what route to go. Maybe they had negotiations with Sanford and a DL coach and choose to go with Sanford.

Can't complain at this point though, we'll have to see how the rest of the moves shake out before we can really judge considering surprises keep happening. Going to be interesting to see how the recruiting responsibilities with regard to territory shake out.

Boise State offensive coordinator Mike Sanford is leaving Boise State for Notre Dame, a source tells me. First reported by @247Sports

Sampson's thoughts on what happens to Denbrock

I would expect Denbrock to move to recruiting coordinator or assistant head coach under Kelly. Wouldn't stun me if Elston moved into the recruiting coordinator role either. Sanford has experience in that capacity at Stanford, which is significant whether he is the actual recruiting coordinator here or not.

The only drawback, if all these hirings come to fruition, is the lack of adding a guy with a ST background.

Maybe, Kelly brings Quinn aboard for TEs, and asks him to tag team ST with Booker to try to solve the problems. By all accounts, Quinn is/was a strong X's and O's guy. I'm sure he's more experienced with them now after being a HC for 5 seasons than he used to be.

Here you go, Jeff. A small position group and the special teams to rehabilitate your career.

Just a thought.
