In the mid 90's who would thought in 2016 Jaromir Jagr would still be playing and playing for the freaking Florida Panthers?

When Jagr broke into the league, nobody thought he'd ever play for the Florida Panthers because they didn't exist. Jagr's been in the league longer than 13 of the current teams.

Awesome sell by Mason.

EDIT: Third period, 7:43 update. Yeah I'm sorry but here is my non-troll, non-drunk opinion on this series.

It is absolutely ridiculous to watch Philadelphia get their butts whipped and instead of trying to play better they go to cheap shots and fake tough fighting. Then the fans bail early and/or start throwing crap on the ice. I'm not trying to be a jerk or troll tonight... I'm just saying it's a bad look when a team abandons trying to win and throws a tantrum instead. NHL should call the series now if they have no interest in playing hockey.

Welp it was a fun ride into the playoffs but it's over. They don't have the talent to match up to the caps and are absolutely gassed.

Think Roenick is over the top, I don't think Bellemare really meant for the hit to be that bad. He shows genuine concern after he sees the end result.

But then after Orlov almost gets fucking murdered on the ice, Philly fans start throwing crap at him on the bench.

There aren't words in the English language fit to describe the garbage that is the Flyers behaving this way on a night that was supposed to honor the man that brought hockey to the city. Just shameful. But Alan May did a pretty good job of capturing what is wrong with the play on the ice from the Flyers' thugs:

Don't think the hit itself was bad, but it could have been a serious injury.

Thanks we try

I'm all about the "us vs. the world" mentality. I do it all the time as a Yankees fan. But when your own players and announcers are calling you embarrassing and classless, it's not cool anymore.

I'm going to a Yankee game Thursday night. I'm thinking I'll wear a Mets shirt. I hate you people.

Roger Maris' Career Was Ruined by Dick Young's Non-Existent Asterisk | Bleacher Report

Before 1961, Maris had always cooperated with the press. Mantle often refused to speak to the press. Maris almost never refused signing autographs. It was Mantle who, depending on how he felt, often brushed off autograph seekers.

By the middle of the season, Mantle was getting the good ink. Maris was ripped in the media. The fans cheered Mantle and threw chairs, nuts, bolts and half-empty soda bottles at Maris.

Sielski: Way to go, Flyers

In their first home game after the death of Ed Snider - their founder, owner, and chairman - the Flyers and their followers put on a display that manifested the worst instincts within themselves and validated the worst stereotypes about them. They embarrassed themselves, all of them, in every possible way. When spectators scream during a pregame moment of silence for a team's patriarch - as several Flyers fans did Monday - and it's not the most graceless, dishonorable episode of the night, that's telling.

The Capitals are bigger, faster, deeper, more skilled, and - in Braden Holtby - have the better goaltender. Other than that, the Flyers have all the advantages, and with no outlet for their frustration, with no hope either in Game 3 or in this series, they resorted to the boorish behavior that always thrills the most sycophantic faction of their fan base and always leaves anyone who appreciates decent hockey rolling his or her eyes.

No mercy from the local paper. Author is right... it's funny how fans screaming "FUCK YOU CAPS!" and "FUCK YOU OVECHKIN!" during a moment of silence for the guy that brought them hockey is just a blip on the radar compared to all of the other deplorable antics of last night.

MAF out again tonight... this playoff run could be quite a short one if my Pens are forced to continue with their #3 (at best) goalie...

I still think the Penguins get it done, they were playing the best hockey of anyone towards the end of the season IMO.

Caps vs Pens in round 2 could be epic. The bottom half of the eastern conference bracket is so soft compared to the top.

Agreed for the most part, though in simpler terms King Heney vs. our third stringer isn't a match up I look forward to....

We've had the Penguins number the last few playoffs and I don't see this year being any different. This Rangers nucleus has serious deep playoff experience and they know they can come down from any deficit. I don't see the Rangers losing a fourth game.

Jury's still out on the White Sox, but between the Bulls missing the playoffs, Bears missing the playoffs and the Hawks looking down the barrel of a 1st round exit...yeah, not a good year for Chicago. ND falling victim to the injury bug doesn't help.

Shaw , Crawford and the Refhawks in general are over. The NHL's darling cannot beat the blues no matter how crooked and despicable their behavior.

Ya, the last few years playing the Rangers in the playoffs have been brutal. This year is different though, these young guys swarm the puck like killer bees. Last nights game reminded me of how the Bruins played us a few years back where we scored like 3 goals in the whole series. Glad to see Crosby looking like Crosby of 8 years ago, Pens in 6!

And then there was this other team.........
