I heard 247's Nick Ironside quit today. They said he's going back to school to become a teacher. Of course he is.

Update: Last day at Irish247...

From watching their post practice videos, Ironside looked very awkward in front of the camera and didn't give me the vibe that he knew what the hell he was talking about half the time. Not nearly as good of a X's and O's type of guy that Sharpley is.

He seems to fit the mold of a teacher. So good luck man.

how little 247 must pay if your taking a teaching job instead.

i always get the impression these jobs aren't very lucrative at all. Didn't one of the ND beat guys quit before to take a medical sales job?

Yep always incredibly awkward to watch. Him and ES didn't mesh at all.

Sapp i believe. Who most thought was the most reliable reporter there. Although, medical sales seems to have a better chance at some legit money than teaching.

Do all these guys have side jobs then?

Yeah, it was the guy that was more beloved than Wiltfong in terms of his ability to accurately report on recruiting. His name escapes me at the moment.

Not sure if serious. He's been covering the team for a while now.

Not serious. It's kind of my catch-phrase.

I still find it somewhat amusing that Sharpley was our starting QB for a number of games in 2007 because we couldn't find a concrete starter in all the talent between Zach Frasier, Demetrius Jones, and Jimmy Clausen. Jones would later switch positions after transferring, and Frasier would later go on to beat us as the starting QB for UConn, and Jimmy was Jimmy (But still young). That kind of makes Sharpley legendary, like a walk on Pat Dillingham leading a comeback against Michigan State in 2002. Just a horrible season in 2007, punctuated by a complete inability to have any of the quarterbacks prepared to lead the team despite having a lot of good, yet young talent to work with.

Oh gotcha. I remember a few people reacting like that when it was first announced, but it's been a while, also it's early and I need coffee

Steve Hare has taken Scout / Irish Illustrated out of his Twitter profile but still says he reports on Notre Dame Football. He has always had OhioVasity..com and ND TunnelVision..com too. Maybe he's gonna try to go pure indy for a while? It would be nice if he had a Ohio regional job with one of the big boys because I like to stay on top of the slightly UTR and younger Ohio kids for ND obviously and for my home boys in Miami, the MAC and for Cincy.

I always liked his work, Scout would provide much of his work for free like they do with Biggins and Trieu... there just wasn't that much of it. He was always on top of Ohio kids which for ND recruiting geeks is mucho mucho importante.

Best of luck to him in future endeavors.

The tweet says it remains closed following Monday's follow-up inspection. Today is Tuesday. How is this a problem?

I thought you vanished, LOL. It really is hard to walk away.

I had nothing to do yesterday and again today except pack. On the road tomorrow for a while so catching up on a week's worth of ND info.

Don't worry I'll be gone again for a while starting tomorrow.
