just listening to some of the ISD podcasts there and was wondering if anyone on IE has ever gone along to those local SB pizza joing meet and greet things with Mike Frank and those dudes? Do they talk about stuff that is generally unprintable/off the record? Always been curious to see who would show up to these events lol

Can’t link from my phone, but Driskell is currently beefing with Ohio State coaches, players, and writers over graduation rates. He’s not wrong, and I kind of respect his balls. On the other hand, he’s trending dangerously close to JHop territory.

I got you.

Because the numbers are that bad. It's the same reason I included Georgia in the original tweet. I put the Big 12 on blast, they have 0 schools above 60%. I put the SEC on blast, b/c 8 of their 14 schools are under 50% grad rate for black players. This tweet is a response to a tweet from our boy Tony Alford.

There is a long line of them from yesterday/today.

Good for him. I wish more people would push back on the garbage Meyer is pushing. OSU is in the 3rd quartile for degree value and African-American GSR, and in the bottom quartile for Racial GSR Disparity. If you're a minority, the Buckeyes aren't interested in making sure you leave with a marketable degree.

Just read through, some pretty good stuff by Mr. Driskell. Alford's response was, "why single out OSU". Driskell, "because they are that bad" LOL.

Those numbers are absolutely terrible and I'm glad someone is making a big deal about it.

This is beneath a company like Cox Media Group, (part of my former employer). He lifted Christian McCollum's quotes (with credit) from Christian's story on ISD this morning and ran it on ND Diehard right behind it an hour and a half later. It had no additional content than what McCollum's quotes provided. To make it feel even more shady, it showed up on my Twitter feed back to back. Low rent & lazy in my book.

I thought we had a general media/sportwriting thread, but I can't find it, so I'll post here:

Does anyone have a sub to "The Athletic"?

I have a subscription. The ND related material leaves some to be desired, but for the Philadelphia sports market no better sports coverage out there.

Supposedly the NFL, NCAA and MLB coverage are amazing from what my friends say. Lot of big names working there now.

Bruce Feldman is leaving SI to join the Athletic

Wow. He is, IMO, the best college football reporter in the business, with Mandell being second. Do they have anyone covering Notre Dame? I may need to subscribe.

Old friend Matt Fortuna is football for ND.

Matt Fortuna covers national college football for The All-American. He previously covered Notre Dame and the ACC for ESPN.com and sits on the board of the Football Writers Association of America.

Michelle Smith does NDWBB articles.

Michelle Smith, who has covered sports in the Bay Area and nationally for nearly three decades, is a contributor for The Athletic Bay Area. Smith has worked for the Oakland Tribune, San Francisco Examiner and Chronicle, as well as ESPN.com. She was named to the Alameda County Women's Hall of Fame in 2015 and is the 2017 recipient of the Jake Wade Media Award from the Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).

I have a subscription. Highly recommend it.

I have a subscription and really enjoy it

Either of you guys comfortable with sharing the "State of the Program" article with me?

I was not super fond of Fortuna's coverage and writing when he covered ND for ESPN, so I'm hesitant to commit. I'd like to judge before I commit to a subscription, and I figured that article would be a good one to look at.

Getting it from one of you guys saves me from the hastle of signing up for the trial and then potentially cancelling lol

Didn’t know Tony was fired 12 years ago. He was one of the best I ever heard. Whoever’s making these decisions aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed.

I would love to have Roberts back at the mic.
