Time for you to go Pro NDC!

As soon as I retire next time, I'm gonna do my idea. If NDMIA was instead NDAZ (and didn't mind being grossly underpaid), I'd do it now. Just not enough time in the day for this working man.

I'm actually doing some stuff on weekends here in AZ this fall that came about in part because of my hobby-posting here combined with my connections in Orange Co. Good experience to get out and talk with industry types that don't wear Irish Only glasses. Should be fun, the schools districts that surround my house have an unbelievable amount of talent this season.

Too bad about Vorel leaving. He was a good one. But moving on up. Looks like he’s off to cover the Seahawks for the Seattle Times. So, good for him.

Sampson would be a good hire for the SBT, if that’s where he’s going. Or The Athletic? They’ve been hiring like crazy and, I don’t believe they have anyone full time on Notre Dame yet.

Also Tyler James is lying. Covering recruiting seems like an absolutely miserable job. Unless you like endlessly sucking up to and being lied to by teenagers for lousy pay.

Still doing podcasts with the boys? Doesn't sound like it's NDInsider. Maybe the Athletic's a good call.

great pickup for the Athletic, I bet they headhunted Sampson for the role. He's the premier ND beat guy.

I lol'ed when somebody on twitter suggested he was leaving II to become a mod on NDNation hahaha

This thread is titled "the good, the bad, the ugly"... you guys want to see the "ugly"?

This is a professional sniping at a player's parent because that parent gave props to another writer instead of him. If you wonder why people are consistently critical of him and why he isn't respected by his peers, it's this kind of stuff.

It’s sad because he knows the game so well but is unbearable to listen to. I gave up on his podcast because he’s such a douchebag to Lou.

I caved and bought Phil Steele's 2018 CFB magazine yesterday and I come to share what he says/thinks about Notre Dame this season:

-Notre Dame is his #1 surprise team in 2018. Points out that Notre Dame only plays 4 true road games; two of their toughest games will be on the road at VT and USC. States VT is young on defense and USC might have issues replacing Darnold.

-Defensively, he ranks all 3 defensive units no worse than #21 in the country. Thats surprising to me, personally. That is a lot of praise.

-He ranked top individual units for every position. Notre Dame is #22 at QB, #22 at RB, #46 at WR, #8 at OL, #21 at DL, #13 at LB, #17 at secondary, not ranked in the top 55 on ST.

-Ranks Mustpher as the #10 draft eligible center in 2018. I think that number will rise as the season progresses. Tillery comes in as the #7 draft eligible DT. Tranquill comes in as the #13 OLB. Coney comes in as the #11 MLB. Love comes in as the #3 CB.

-Alex Bars and Julian Love made his 3rd team All-American team.

-Predicts that Notre Dame reaches the Rose Bowl and plays Wisconsin.

If the defense can stop the run, then that's an easy W vs a team everybody counts as good. Plus f*ck Sconny

Easy win? Pump the brakes there. They consistently show up in big games, we dont IMO.

Exhibit A) Wisconsin beat Miami by double digits in Hard Rock Stadium last year

Exhibit B) We lost by 33 to Miami in Hard Rock Stadium last year

One of Wisconsins greatest strengths is people constantly dismiss them, and they just keep plodding away with ugly wins.

I've sadly had to watch a fair amount of Sconny football over the years. Stop the run (which you need to do in order to get to the Rose Bowl anyways), and you'll get a W vs Wisconsin. Don't be afraid of the badgers

Rose Bowl CANT happen this year. ONLY in semi final years. This season Cotton and Orange are the semis and the Rose is Big 10/Pac 12 by Contract. So, Phil Steele is incorrect.

Wisconsin doesn’t suck, but our defense is built to stop teams like that. Coney and Tranquil would have 15 tackles apiece. If we have a dynamic offense (which we’ll have to to win 10 or 11 games and make the Rose Bowl), we win.

If showing up is getting off the bus, I agree.

Seems to me what defines Wiscy is they lose the biggest game they play every season.

It can if the B1G and/or Pac 12 have representatives in the playoffs... so I guess it depends on who he projects to be the top 4 teams.

No, In that case the 2nd place Team in that conference goes. Example, Washington made the playoff and played Bama in the peach, USC was second place and played In the Rose vs Penn State.

Would have to be a Pac 10 team in there. If it’s USC, then he’s basically predicting we play them for a playoff spot Thanksgiving weekend, no? (Figuring we’re 10-2 to make the Rose). Obviously I’d rather we win, but that’d be pretty cool
