Ranks #8 in average recruit rating and #9 in overall points per 247.

2012 Football Recruiting Team Rankings

Michigan ranks #10 in average recruit rating and #3 in overall points. With a Kiel commitment we should jump up near #4, right below Michigan, in total points.

BTW the reason I cite 247 is because they have the most mathematically accurate way to rate a class I've ever seen a recruiting service attempt to use (to go along with a 100 point recruit rating scale that makes perfect sense). Click the little info bubble on a page for a look at the formula. As an engineer, it makes me happy.

Our recruits average rating is also skewed negatively because one of our commits is a long-snapper, a position not highly rated by the recruiting services. Subtract Daly and our average rating is 91.47 on 247.

Which would put us #3. Sweet.

This post is a thing of beauty!

As someone previously stated, the most important aspect is that we are focusing on positions of need.

Additionally, we have a few prospects that will prove bigger than their original ratings.

Yea don't they use the highest rated 17 commits?

Scout moved ND up to #6. Highest of any team not with at least 21 commitments. I know scout isn't that great but still. That's impressive.

That hurt last year with our kicker as well. However, if we're going to do that for ourselves, then we have to take into account any other schools with specialist as commits, you know?

None of the sites counted Prestwood in our ranking either. Add him in, and we had a top 5 class last year.

24/7 is the best in the business as far as news/quality. Rivals has the profiles/videos/info on each player as well as future prospects that cant be touched. Rivals also has the worst message boards as far as quality discussions/quality people lol. IrishEnvy is second to none in this area. There is somewhat of a mutual respect on this board lol. 247s boards are nice.

Scout.well u know. ISD...effort is there, quality isnt.

Wiltfong.......best in the business.

All of the services need to either (a) pretend kickers and LS either don't exist or (b) actually rank them.

It makes no sense that you would be hurt for bringing in a good ST player.

Agree with most of this.

Rivals has an entertaining board. Some real bipolar people there. Sampson and Jake are good

247's is F'ing atrocious. I feel bad for Sapp & Wiltfong

A few of the teams ahead of us (OU, USC, and Auburn) do not have a specialist committed. Subtracting specialists and the top ten looks like this:

1. FSU 93.38
2. Texas 92.29
3. UF 92.27
4. Alabama 91.5
5. ND 91.47
6. OU 91.06
7. USC 91.00
8. Auburn 90.69
9. Texas A&M 90.43
10. UM 90.26

CORRECTION: If you remove Daly's 75 rating, ND's player average is 91.69... which is #1 in the country ahead of Alabama's 91.67.

NOTE: I did not take the time to look at which other teams have specialists included in their average.

5 most likely.

I'll do the averages taking out specialists if no one else has started.

Thank ya SIR! Question from the novice when it come to recruiting. How are you able to tell who the specialists are on the top 10 recruiting classes? Is it strictly kickers and snappers?

If we go Shumate, Wright, Fuller, Ekanem, Neal to close out this class... sweet mother of pearl. And that's not even a "dream list" counting current longshots like Armstead or Agholor. Or even a realistic dude like Garnett. All those guys I listed we either currently lead for or are tied up top for.

Right now I'll just be thrilled to hang on tight to Shephard, Greenberry, Darby, and Decker. But holy crap does this class have amazing upside.
