Didn't know where else to put this.

247 introduced a new feature called 247 composite.

The 247Composite Rating is a proprietary algorithm that compiles prospect "rankings" and "ratings" listed in the public domain by the major media recruiting services. It converts average industry ranks and ratings into a linear composite index capping at 1.0000, which indicates a concensus No. 1 prospect across all services.
The 247Composite Rating is the industry's most comprehensive and unbiased prospect ranking and is also used to generate 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings....

Introducing 247Composite

Example of application:

Smith is #9 overall in composite, likely because of ESPNs lower rating of him.

2013 Top 247Composite

And a big change, Rashad Kinlaw is #160 overall on 247 but #330 overall on 247 Composite.

Rashad Kinlaw

Quite interesting stuff..... after the new composite rankings, the only player who is not a "composite" 4:s: is Corey Robinson and Michael Deeb. With that being said, they have an error for Deeb and are not including his rankings elsewhere (such as 4:s: #17 ILB on ESPN).

On the overall composite rankings, we're #6 without Jamel James and our 247 "score" basically didn't move at all. Instead, OSU got a major uptick in points dropping us back one spot. Really cool system, definitely needs a couple tweaks though for accuracy. They have an issue with Mattingly as well which is either an oversight or an intentional issue because some services list him as a TE/ATH and not OLB.

Also of note, relative to the 247 rankings, Elmer, Montelus, and McGovern all get sizeable bumps... especially Montelus. The only guy taking a big relative hit is Rashad Kinlaw. Everyone else just nudges a slight bit up or down. It's crazy that our new composite score is only 1 total point different (up) than our 247 score... that's crazy little variance.

Also, we have the composite #9, #13, #14, and #15 OTs per the rankings. 4 of the top 15 OL in the country is a pretty damn awesome haul.

"And when the Irish line goes smashing through, they'll sweep the foeman's ranks away; for Notre Dame man fight for Gold and Blue, and Notre Dame men will win this day!!!!"

....part of the really olde alternative fight song from my Dad's day in the 30s.

While I don't much care for the rankings by the services, I do think it's great to see these kids get recognized for their efforts. That being said, I couldn't be happier with this class, and the job the staff is doing on the recruiting trail! They have put together an amazing class that doesn't have the star power of Southern Cal, but has the right kids with the right mindset. Jamal James came out of nowhere, to go along with the OL haul and LB haul. Throw in Malik Zaire and a few talented WR's, and this has turned out to be an outstanding class.

Do we have an explanation for why Jamel James is not being included in our class per 24/7?

247 as reintroduced their own team rankings, they had gotten ridden of them after 247Composite but now both are an option.

247: USC Bama UM UF ND Auburn OSU Clemson LSU UGA
247Composite: USC UM Bama UF OSU ND Texas UGA Auburn Clemson

consensus top 5 recruiting class so far... :) But has ESPN updated their rankings with our 18th and 19th commit. That would affect ND's composite score.

Na ESPN hasn't updated their class rankings. They don't do it dynamically like their other sites, they do it periodically.

2 out of top 4 are northern schools and one from out west? Obviously Rivals has something against southern football.

Think it's time for a nice bump to this thread...

Rivals-#2
Scout-#2
ESPN-#4
247-#6

That's pretty darn awesome. And doubly awesome if you expect us to land AQM and Redfield... please lord baby Jesus let that happen.

Kelly can't recruit; all he got at Cincinnati were 3 and two stars.

Gotta keep a close watch on this pretender.

Anyone who needs italics, needs more than that....

It has already been established that this staff can't recruit... Clearly when Les Miles jumps you someone just got exposed.... Again.

i still don't understand 247's class ranking methodology. How can you have a higher per player point average, more recruits, more 5*s, more 4*s..... than Ohio St., and be behind them. Do they get an Urban Liar bonus. And UF, higher per player average, more recruits...

^ If I remember correctly they only count the top 17 or 18 players in your class. So they could possibly have higher rated guys at the top.
