Well, a couple of St. John's CBs camein for Luther Muhammad. Kinda sucks if he goes there, but it'll be okay because getting him would be gravy at this point because of the Carmody commitment. If he does commit to us then that's cool but I don't think he's as big of a need as he was a week ago. Plus, if Dane Goodwin goes Irish then it's all moot

That's what happens when when you start going toe to toe with Duke and UNC and beat them regularly and make some nice runs in the NCAA.

3 sg's in one class? Where the bigs?

Well Hubb is a combo guard so he'll be playing PG but yes I agree we need more bigs. I mean technically Durham will,be in this class so there's a big right there but I agree we need another big. We are in it for a couple of bigs but I don't think we will get anyone but who knows

I look at it like people are the most important thing to me, and all of the people at Notre Dame are top notch people. Also the academics are as good as it gets. Definitely the basketball program is one of the best. They went to back to back Elite Eight's, and just have had a lot of success

So Muhammad is out, that leaves us with 2-3 more spots with the likelihood of landing one of the bigs we are in the race for not being the greatest. Let's hope Brey and Co can finish strong.

They're gonna ping to get their big and combo forwards now. Goodwin killed the small chance of Muhammad coming aboard. They have 3 scholarships left to give out. I'm hoping for either 2 bigs and a combo forward, or vice versa.

On Goodwin, I've read he is pretty much the opposite of the player that Carmody is. That's not a bad thing, it just means they'll play off each other well. Carmody is your driver and Goodwin is your shooter. I think Hubb, Carmody, and Goodwin will all thrive in Barry's offense.

It's hard not to get excited about this class that Brey has put together before the July evaluation period has even started. I'm confident they will land a couple front court guys. This is the class you need to get past that Elite Eight hump.

For someone who watches the tournament and that's it, and doesn't know anything about these 3, can someone explain why Brey/these kids would sign up in a class with what on paper looks like 3 very talented SG's?

Is one a true PG, but listed as a SG? Is one a SF in a way?

All 3 are guards.

Kind of like how Jackson, Grant, and Vasturia took us wire-to-wire with Kentucky.

Problems?

Don't get defensive, I clearly said I don't understand the dynamics. Vasturia was a SF, Jackson a true PG, and Grant a PG/SG combo. All 3 weren't true SG's.

Hubbs is more of a 1, Goodwin and Carmody both will play 2 or 3. With Carmody more likely at the 3 if all three were on the court at the same time. Brey likes his smaller lineups so I think this is likely. Remember we are talking about 17-18 year old kids still so someone could hit a 2nd growth spurt or could still be growing.

Edit: I think Goodwin would more likely be the 3. Carmody is a driver where Goodwin is more of a shooter. As stated above.

So it sounds like this might look weird on paper, but work out perfectly. Good to hear Hubb can play PG. Having a good PG in college is underrated.

All 3 could play the 2 or 3. But Hubb has the versatility to play PG and be a good one at that. So, Hubb looks like he'll be a PG at ND when Gibb's is gone, he could play the 2 when Gibbs is playing PG, and he could be the PG when Gibbs needs a breather.

Carmody, at least at the moment, looks like he will be Brey's player that does the dirty work and could be the "junk yard dog" on the team. He's a driver that has a good mid range game and an above average 3 point game.

Goodwin, to me, looks like he'll be Brey's sharp shooter. Not sure how he is with driving the ball but his perimeter shooting well compliment Carmody's playing style

Yeah, I mean we had 6 schollies coming into this off season so with only 5 positions on the court at once you're going to grab more than one player that plays the same position somewhere. It just so happens that 3 true SGs committed first.

If Brey lands a top 100 C/PF cycle this year, I might quit watching football for a few years and hone in on the bball team. At least Brey is fun to root for, unlike Kelly.

He already has in Durham. It's whether they will get more.

That's because Brey looks like that businessman who went on a bender all weekend, but still comes in and does his shit. So you decide to go out one Friday night with him, he's your boss after all. You wake up Monday morning in your work clothes from Friday. You don't know where you are, but Brey walks into the room with a fresh coffee, and lets you borrow a shirt as he drives you both to work. You can't even look out the window of the car during your mid-morning commute, yet he's laughing at everything the sports radio broadcaster has to say, humming along with the intro music after commercial breaks. When you get into the office, he greats everyone with a smile, and you shuffle to your desk and throw your head down. 20 minutes later, he lets you know you are joining him for a week long conference in two months, and your stomach turns as you rush to the bathroom.

One PF to watch is Saddiq Bey. He's a 6'7" guy from DC so hopefully Brey can use his East Coast ties and maybe get Harvey on him. He taking an OV on the weekend of the UGA game. From watching his spring highlights, I'm 90% sure he plays on the same AAU team as Hubb.

I can't imagine it'd be hard to get a big or 2. Brey' new assistants have been awesome so far, they can now use their new guard commits as recruiting firepower, and any new big will have little competition besides Durham.

I had to edit this pot because I thought it was Simi Shittu who was visiting during the UGA weekend. But that's not the case.

I found it kind of humorous that this article was posted to Elevenwarriors just hours before Goodwin committed. It makes stealing Goodwin from pOSU even sweeter given where he is from.
There is No Lower Arlington | Eleven Warriors

You cannot imagine Nicklaus not going to Ohio State because it's unimaginable. He is from Upper Arlington, which bumps right up against main campus. It's the most Buckeye neighborhood in the state, which means it's the most Buckeye place on earth.

If Brey loses out on Sh!ttu and Hauser I think he offers Riley Battin and we land him. He isn't close to the athlete that the earlier two are but he's a big bodied guy. Like a Jack Cooley, if you will.

Somebody said "I assumed Holtmann would start dominating recruiting like Urban"...um, why would you assume that? There is no evidence that Holtmann is a once-in-a-generation type coach.

As for ND not being better than OSU in BB (another theme) that might be true over the histories of the program. It clearly isn't true right now, though.

It may have also helped that OSU got rid of Matta? Holtmann is a top recruiter so getting him after Holtmann had spoken to him is a plus. Doesn't matter the sport. Anytime you can steal one from the Buckeyes it's great.

Well recently it was true. By recently I mean 10-12 years ago. Ohio State was one of the best programs in the country for a few years. Now, I would agree. ND is doing better.

Overall though, it's ND. We are 8th all time in wins, and they are 30th. Yes ND is in the top 10 all time in men's basketball wins, something people overlook. We also boast a better win %.

Couple of videos of Prentiss Hubb hooking up with Sh!ttu at the NBPA Top-100 Camp. The thought of the possibility of that pair at ND has me drooling.
