We only have 2 players committed and according to 247 all the other players we had offers out to are verbaled with other teams. Last week i think it was we had 3 verbals. With not having good depth and now the transfer you think we would get more then 2 players.

I think each team carries 12 players at a time. Right now ND will probably lose Abro, Dragicevich is transfering, and Crowley is a walk-on.

That leaves 9 Scholarship players. With 3 recruits coming in next year to bumped the total back up to 12. After next year ND loses Cooley and Martin (if he is able to get a 6th year which he may)

With the two recruits coming in from 2013 that will bump the total back up to 12. This is all without anyone transferring.

EDIT: Forgot Brooks with graduate after next year, also. From what I have heard Broghammer may be done because he has bad knees, but if he does still play he still has two years left. That leaves either 10-11 players after next season. Room for 1-2 more players to sign in 2013.

the class still has 3 members, but only 2 are top 100 (Brey's best class ever). Year after we have 2, are hard after Djax, and maybe will add another due to Drago leaving (though may add a transfer. BBall is looking up.

Just a FYI, Broghammer is officially done.

Not recruiting but didnt deserve a thread

“@DickieV: Happy to hear ND -Purdue - IU-  Butler will play again in Indy - Irish should sign @NDMikeBrey  to a long long deal    Katz 3-point shot - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN "

1. Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said the Irish have extended their commitment to the Crossroads Classic for another two seasons. Brey expects the event to continue and be a fixture on the Irish’s schedule. Notre Dame lost badly to Indiana last season while Butler beat Purdue in thrilling fashion in the first event. Next season, in what will be the second of the initial two-year deal, will pit Notre Dame against Purdue and Indiana against Butler. Brey said the rotation of Notre Dame and Butler alternating with the two in-state Big Ten schools would continue in 2013 and 2014. The coach doesn’t anticipate playing Butler in a separate game since it might be hard to justify playing another in-state school, even one as highly rated and respected as Butler.

Why not just make that a tourney? I like the concept but if feels incomplete without have the winners play each other to crown an in-state champ each year.

And I like the odds of Brey tracking down a transfer to join us. He has had good luck with Martin and Hansborough and we have schollies to spare on someone sitting out a year.

They can't because Indiana and Purdue can't play each other b/c they already do in conference. That's why ND will never play Butler in this event. It will just rotate between IU and Purdue every year.

Well that kind of sucks.

and for the record I am excited about Brey getting two Top 100 recruits.

I might also add those twins for 2013 are looking for a two sport situation, their schollies would count for football but if we have a good shot at them that give Brey plenty of depth without costing scholarships.

Do we have a shot with Jabari Rodgers? He's the #1 player for next year I believe. The reason I ask is that a co-worker of mine was talking about him yesterday and top me that he was looking at us. He told me that Jabari is Morman and that he plans to play his freshman year and then do his 2 year mission. It's worked itself out with Te'o and Badger so I thought would be a interesting subject. Thanx!

No shot at Jabari Parker.

We have a good shot at Kyle Washington for 2013. Really like him. Nice offer list.

That sucks, sorry I got the name wrong too.

Good to see BB recruiting pick up though, last years haul is gonna help a lot!

Yup. Beachem is like a taller Grant. Vasturia is a nice combo guard who could very well be our next great white 3 point shooter.

Does anybody know where ND stands with Demetrius Jackson?

Saw he's up to 32 on ESPN's top 100 for 2013.

We were in his top 2 and wanted to decide in December 2011 but has moved his timetable to this fall or winter. IMO he picks up offers from the big boys and goes elsewhere.

Yup which sucks because he's a local talent. Just got to good.

He grew up with a really nice family. He won't just pick a school beacuse they are a "top dog". Education could play a big part and Notre Dame will be in it to the end

I went to the Indiana Kentucky all star game last night and Austin Burgett. He is a real nice player and IMO will see the floor immediately.

Does anyone know what this is about? This sounds like potentially very good news for ND basketball. I couldn't find anything myself though, so I have no legitimate guesses as to who/what this means:

Sapp:
Been plugging away on a story for our BGI FB preview since I touched down in Nashville. Sounds like I missed out on hoops...

In video interview on ESPN, mentioned Kansas as a school that is interested in him along with the other known competitors in Illinois, Butler, and MSU.

What other top 100 recruits has he ever gotten? Ryan Humphreys I think. Not sure of any others.

Don't we have a dark horse football recruit or two that want to play some basketball too?

Humphrey was a transfer from OU. Chris Thomas technically comitted to Doherty but Brey convinced him to stay. Torin Francis was probably his best recruit based on rankings as I think he's still the only 5-star recruit he's brought in.

Per Jake Brown on II Demetrius Jackson and VJ Beachem are visiting ND today and Tommorow. Jake also says that we probably lead for Jackson.
