There's a reason why Calipari says getting guys drafted is more of a goal than championships.

It's what recruits care about.

Brey offered Thon Maker 's teammate who is a mid major kinda player but Brey wants that package deal like dj and torres

Have they offered his brother, Matur? I know he has said that it's important to him, likely much more so than a kid that just transferred into the school this year. Djogo should get more exposure now though and likely picks up a few more offers.

A one and done like him is absolutely not a bad thing. What you don't want is a team full of one and dones. Duke does it the right way. 1-2 Elite Freshman and 3 other experienced starters.

Thon would be a program changing player on every level. We need a lottery pick asap to keep the momentum Grant and PC started.

On 247 a prediction came in today for Jarrett Allen to ND. Top 20 player. A really good Center. A big big recruit. Also visiting this weekend

Getting a five star center out of texas would be the biggest recruiting win of the mike brey era, and I don't think it's particularly close. Would be absolutely gigantic.

For what its worth, Scout has Jarrett Allen as being lowly interested in ND. Thon Maker, who I would love to see in an ND uniform has shown a little more interest.

Is Thon Maker a realistic option?

He will be OV ND at some point before he decides and it sounds like Brey is optimistic about ND's chances as he talked about 1-and-dones during the press conference. Either way, I think ND gets a big man to finish the class whether that be Maker or not.

So it gives good info on thon. Said he would like to take an official to ND but doesn't have a timetable yet. Most likely in April. Also said it ALL depends on what djax does with the draft so.

If djax comes back and we get thon i might shit myself. Auguste is very athletic but thon is a different specimen not only on offense but especially on defense where we lack

Also idk how to embed a tweet

I've made this comment before but I continue to not understand this. We just don't have enough scholarships for DJax and Maker to both be on the team next year. Is someone planning to transfer that we don't know about? It just doesn't make sense.

I'm sure if they both wanna come we will find room somehow for it to happen. Brey knows thon is thinking this way and he is still pursuing very hard to get him so he must know something.

What are the chances DJ comes back? All of the chatter seems to say that he is going pro.

Just for kicks:
Jackson (Sr.)
Vasturia (Sr.)
Beachem (Sr.)
Colson (Jr.)
Maker (Fr.)

Plueger (So.), Ryan (So.), Geben (Jr.) as bench contributors.

Looks like a Final Four team to me if Maker is as good as he is hyped to be.

So wait... Maker will come to ND, but only IF Jackson is still on the team?

If Mike Brey could recruit like he coaches, he would have top 10 caliber teams almost every year. I just don't understand the way he recruits. For example, Notre Dame basketball needs a big man like Notre Dame football needs a pass rush. But according to 247, Notre Dame only has offered two players in the 2017 class and the tallest one being a 6'8", 185 pound small forward. Just offer a few 6'10", 6'11" big guys that you would have a chance with and call it a day.

Looking back at his last 6 recruiting classes, Brey's 2013 class might be his best one. 3 current starters were in that class- Demetrius Jackson, Stave Vasturia, and VJ Beachum.

Other than recruiting big men, Brey has always had at least one really good guard on the team and sometimes even two. So kudos for that.

Supposedly he'll at least visit and seriously consider ND if DJ stays. Which does make sense since he'll probably be a one-and-done type of guy and he wants a true PG out there.

I know Diamond Stone said Trimble staying at Maryland this year is what sealed the deal for him.

I really only see DJ staying if we make a tourney run and lose a heart-breaker like last season.

Recruiting has certainly gotten better the last couple years under Brey. Gibbs is a top 50 player and Mooney we stole from Florida. Back to Back sweet 16s would do wonders for our future.
