There used to be a show on Friday or Saturday nights back in the 80's IIRC that dubbed voices over the movie similar to Rifftrax. Always had me laughing.

Are you thinking Mystery Science Theater 3000? Because Rifftrax evolved from that directly.

Historical note: The initial "Mystery Science Theater was a Minnesota production put together by Joel Hodgson and initially aired on a local TV station, KTMA.
Joel was a fixture in local comedy and had a delightfully twisted and dry sense of humor.
I had the pleasure of working with him a number of times.

With the Oscars ratings setting a new low again, it's fair to say a lot of folks are yelling at the same cloud. I personally don't mind a little messaging now and then, however Hollywood has gone well past the point of saturation.

I mean Kimmel hosted... they literally could not have picked a more antagonistic, one-sided, and completely pompous tool who is currently reasonably relevant to host the thing.... The only thing shocking about the ratings continuing to drop is the fact that Hollywood still can't seem to grasp why.

Hollywood believes for some reason that they are superior and that people care what they have to say. Given the historical hypocrisy and seediness of Hollywood, I mean why wouldn't people care.....

Kimmel - I never watched him, but he used to have a pretty even audience before he took a hard left. Gone are the days when folks like Johnny Carson could entertain while making fun of both sides. That was entertainment, not some holier than thou sermon from the mount we see today. I'd love to watch a host or comedian rip both sides of DC. There's so much from both sides to make fun of.

Yeah, that movie looks ridiculously good. I still haven't seen the first one, except for chosen clips. I need to get on it.

Pacific Rim: Uprising

I thought it was a pretty good sequel, maybe better than the original in terms of strength of narrative and action sequences, as far as "giant robots vs giant aliens" goes.

You're not asking for an Academy Award-worthy film when you go to see giant robots fight giant monsters... you're asking for giant robots to fight giant monsters. And that's what the movie gives you, but with a bit of a twist.

John Boyega in this was a better lead than Charlie Hunnam in the original, and Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny give the co-star cast more depth than the original, where it was just Idris Elba, basically.

Charlie Day and Burn Gorman get more face time as the crazy doctors, but it felt kind of forced compared to the first film.

I think it was a better film than the original, and the final act was stronger than the first film's, mostly because the narrative was surprisingly strong for the genre.

10/10, would recommend if you like giant robots battling giant monsters.

just googled that, yeah, as comedic as it was (they looked like sausage fingers), probably not suitable for a 7 year old
