I'd love to see ND go after a home run hire at OC... but with Bama and LSU also looking for new OC's, it looks like BK will just stay in house.

Unless Quinn is going to call plays, it doesnt make sense to make him OC.

It wouldnt surprise me at all to see Sanford take Booker with him to WKU. BK gets villified alot on these boards, but to his credit, he seems to take care of his assistants.

Bama is probably going to sty in house for an OC...

And the fact that Booker still has a job blows my mind. BK taking care of his assistants is not a good quality.

Gotta be Denbrock with Quinn moving up to positional coach.

If Quinn were promoted to active staff and jumped right to OC, that would be pretty shitty for Denbrock. As much as I like the idea of BK/Quinn going back to what they did at UC, I don't see BK doing that to Denbrock.

Agree, but BK's butt couldn't be hotter if he was sitting in an electric chair waiting on the warden. He knows he has to make some changes.

Why does everyone on here want MS to fail? I mean y'all are wanting him to take the worst ND coaches with him...

Good luck Mike. I hope you are very successful as a head coach and I hope to see you in South Bend again some day.

Sort of wish we had Sanford for one more year for Wimbush's debut.

You'll see him every other year when he's the coach of Stanford. You KNOW it's coming.

Well.......wouldn't that be EVERY year, since they're always on TV?????

Listened to his introductory press conference. Such a great, energetic, and well spoken man. I hope he excels at WKU and maybe one day can call him our head coach because I feel he is going to be successful as the head man.

Yeah I really wish him well. I think he will be one day a premier HC in CFB and we will look back and say "do you remember that he used to be coaching at ND???" Yet another waste of talent at ND under BK.

Man I hope someone hot comes on the CFB HC radar this year. Im having a really hard time with BK running the show anymore.

I used to be really behind BK. I remember an old strength coach of mine in HS that I have kept in touch with for 25 years always has said he never liked BK. I didnt understand at the time because BK was winning games, seemed a good recruiter and a heck of a lot better than what ND had since Holtz. But now Im starting to understand him.

I love Sanford, but lets remember almost everyone hits a HR in their first press conference. Easy to be confident and tell the world how its going to be. I remember Brady Hoke sounded like a stud and within 2 years he was more Fred Flintstone than Bo. Bob Davie hit a HR, and most people around campus were praising him that first year.. We saw how that turned out.

I think Mike is in a great situation, and I think he will be a very good HC, but I'm leaving judgement of actually watching him coach a couple games before I anoint him the next HC in 2020

posted in the ND coaching changes thread as well.

Fox Sport's take on new coaches....
Said this about his move to WKU...

Grade: C+

Sanford wanted out of Notre Dame and made an excellent pitch to WKU, which is a spot where he *should* have immediate success. The offensive transition should be seamless, but is Sanford ready to helm a program with expectations?

C+.... Wanted out?? Can anyone elaborate???

He wanted to be the OC and call the plays. Like he was brought here to do. C+ is a little low to me, I agree wit ya thur

I would have given it a B or maybe B+.

Had no doubt he wanted to call plays, but had no idea he wanted out.

"Wanting out" and wanting more responsibility are different to me. Was there friction between he and BK?

I had assumed his role would grow and more responsibility would transition to him in 2017 but he just got an opportunity he couldn't pass up.

I have a hard time believing Sanford wanted "out" Did he want more? Yes, I think everyone can assume that. But he is walking into a great situation for him. I don't think there was friction I know for a fact he loved being in SB and so did his family.

Sanford's dad is leaving Indiana St to join his staff. Cue the "Sanford & Son" theme music.

Maybe he found BK insufferable?

Shocking I know!

If LSU hiring goddamn Ed Orgeron got a "B" grade, Sanford should be considered an A+ hire on that list.

I wouldn't have given the what, A-A+ for the Kiffin hire.....NOBODY in their right effing mind would hire him for a head coaching position, smdh

Yes, WKU and Houston are basically the two best stepping stone programs in existence right now. Set up to win.
