That's pretty cool. Stewart has been a very good AD so far. Brohm was a great hire and WKU supporters are completely sold on Stansbury returning the men's basketball to prominence. Sanford would continue his run of strong hires imo.

Willie Taggart left an insanely good foundation at WKU when he left. Petrino benefitted, and Brohm stepped in without messing anything up (and even progressed the team in some ways from Petrino).

WKU is in the unique position that it would almost be hard to *not* make a strong hire. Combine the current state of the team, the attractive base of talent to work with, the culture of success, pretty good facilities, and a competition-friendly conference with any up-and-coming offensive guru, and WKU will be set.

As long as they keep hiring coaches that (1) don't screw up the talent base left to them by previous coaches and (2) continue to take care of the recruiting inroads in Florida and Georgia, they'll be just fine.

And just when I thought I was gonna make it through a page without something negative about Kelly.

Olympia has made it a point today to post in every thread about the dumpster fire that ND has become under Kelly

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a Christmas cookie thread and he blamed Kelly for his grandmothers sugar cookies getting burned in the oven

Seriously. At this point, I think even people who want Kelly gone would say it's getting old to read on every. single. thread.

But did you see the fire Kelly sign I shoveled into my driveway? Perhaps that will change your opinion.

Hey this was far more specific than the bad old days of "Hey, I heard a rumor of something big about to happen, but I can't tell you anything about it until it happens" which of course led to the pie in the sky hopers overly hoping and the doom and gloomers dooming and glooming and then waiting for....nuthin'

And GK hasn't smacked your wrist?

Not sure if serious?

I apologize for enforcing the rules around here, which is my "job." I don't make the rules.

Whoever it was that I admonished for not sourcing his posts was stating things as fact and actually did not provide a source when asked. Rackem did nothing like that.

And...another one bites the dust.

Wonder if it would have made a difference if he could see himself going anywhere under BK. Did the guy ever actually make a call all year or just be a quarterback coach.

Western Kentucky is a phenomenal situation for a first HC job. The fact that it was open to Sanford reflects quite well on him. It's miles better than UConn or UMass or Miami of Ohio.

I'm excited for him. This is the first major step on him becoming ND's coach down the line.

He took the job at ND over Ohio State because he thought it would give him his best opportunity to realize his ultimate coaching aspirations. The next step for him is to take a HC job, and the WKU has proved to be a great springboard.

Sanford seems to have the it factor. I can imagine him recruiting well and doing well. Sucks for ND, but good for him.

Pretty sure it's a done deal but there are conflicting reports...

Replaces BK once the contract is up? Or they wait until the buyout is a bit smaller and Sanford has been successful for 3 years or so.

I feel less confident about going into next year without Kizer, but good for him. Hopefully he'll be back one day

Oh man.....I hope this isn't true but it look. Like it is. I'm guessing BK will be coaching the QB's this year. I hope we don't lose Avery or even worse, Jurkovec as a result if this. Damn, he was a great recruiter as well. These things happen though....onward and upward.

That's so amazingly Brian Kelly of Brian Kelly to bring Sanford in and then watch him leave without ever letting him call plays.

This isn't the end of the world IMO. Coaches like Sanford get HC offers and leave. That's College Football. I always expected this to happen. Maybe not so soon but I'm not surprised at all. Hopefully we can find a new QB coach who is also a good recruiter.
GO IRISH
