Girlfriend has relatives in town. Her aunt's hubby is a police officer that was involved in the investigation. If I had a few drinks in I'd start with the conspiracy stuff.
So get to drinking!
I'm not in the mood to get tazed...
I'll give a quick rundown. He said the documentary only showed the sketchy stuff. Which is partially true. He said he definitely did it. He's a police officer so honestly I didn't get the vibe he cared much about how the investigation was handled. He mentioned "some shoddy police work.". He also said it happened how the kid described... But Steven was convicted on the basis that he did it in the garage, wasn't he?
He basically said the end justifies the means... Which to me, goes 100% against how the law is supposed to work... You know, however that saying goes, something about letting guilty men walk free instead of putting an innocent man behind bars.
Did he say which of the 4,000 different coerced confession stories was the real one? LOL.
Or where all the blood was? You know, from slitting her throat while raping her??
Brendan Dasseys conviction overturned
Judge Overturns Conviction for 'Making a Murderer' Subject Brendan Dassey | NBC Chicago
Wow. Lets see how the state reacts to this.
Is there anything they can do anymore? This was a federal ruling.

I thought I heard on TV that they can try him again?
'Making a Murderer': With Brendan Dassey's Conviction Overturned, What's Next for Steven Avery? - ABC NewsAccording to Dassey's attorney Laura H. Nirider, the state has the option to appeal or retry the case within 90 days. If the state pursues neither course of action, Dassey will go free, according to court documents.
I guess they can. I don't really get how a lower court gets to take an overturned federal verdict back to trial without any new evidence, but I guess that is the case.

My guess, they don't want the press and know that they don't have anything on him. It would be pretty hard to get a jury to re-convict him now that his case is public knowledge. My guess is they will refrain and save their energy for the possibility of Steve getting an overturned verdict as well.
Is this a show that can have multiple seasons? Or was this a one time thing because it took years to make?
They are doing a second season.
