i will donate every vbuck i have, streak thru times square naked if Ed Orgeron was to ever become the next head coach (not interim) at USC.
there is no way in hell Haden picks him to succeed Kiffin.
they are one and the same Haden knows this.

Kiffin was simply a placesetter at USC, from the get go...Haden is in this for the long haul and will clean house

ps Kiffin is going to be on ESPN College Gameday tomorrow morning (guy has no shame)

As far as Haden is concerned, yes, but I think Garrett hired him thinking he's a good coach.

and when USC Prez Nikias got there he got rid of Garret (for many reasons) but all that ive read was he had no use for at all for and began his own purges of anyone that had to do with OJ Mayo, Reggie Bishe etc... Garrett, Kiffin, the whole lot of em were all a part of it....Haden had to bide his time, and Kiffin was gone as soon as was feasible...Kiffin is such an idiot he never realized he was a dead man walking out there the day he set foot on campus.

I know he's probably just doing it to make himself more employable, but he's been a class act so far on Gameday.

I really don't think he's as bad as everybody makes him out to be. A lot of accounts describe him as pretty shy, so I think he just puts forth a more blustering, loudmouth personality because that's what he thinks he's supposed to do at a big-time school. I was really impressed when he went to the ND locker room after we beat them to offer condolences to Manti. He didn't have to do that and it wasn't for appearances because there weren't supposed to be any cameras around. He's a good OC, I just think he was too conservative in his playcalling this year because of his new QB(s).

I have a bad feeling we're gonna see Chip Kelly on the sidelines next year. That is absolutely terrifying

If you mean on the Eagles sideline I agree. If you mean in college he's banned for 3 years I believe

Totally forgot abut that. Runs til roughly end of 2014 I believe, no? That makes me feel better - his system at a program with the tradition, resources, and recruiting ground of USC could spell disaster for ND. Still not convinced Haden won't at least give it his best shot.

I don't know if you understand...he's banned for 3 years. Don't see that being lifted. He accepted it.

USC is going to go hard at Pep Hamilton and James Franklin

With the way Franklin has turned Vanderbilt into at least a respectable team, I would think that USC would give him a good look.

Of course, I have no idea who Pep Hamilton is, at all. Who is he?

To better understand what a show-cause means...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Show-Cause_Penalty_(NCAA)

There is even a section on Chip Kelly specifically detailing his case. Basically, if USC hired Kelly they would lose scholarships, lose official visits, have recruiting restrictions, and be put on a modified sort of "probation" for the duration of the show-cause.

Yes, USC could hypothetically hire him. Realistically, there is a 0% chance that Haden wants to follow up this era of scandal/scholarship losses with more scholarship loss, recruiting restrictions, and NCAA attention. Chip Kelly WILL NOT be on USC's sideline next year.

Per the Dan Patrick Radio Show:

USC is pursuing Jon Gruden for the head coaching spot. Expected to announce official pursuit within the next 2 weeks.

Gruden at USC would be hilarious. No way could he find a QB to run his schemes though. He would probably end up getting frustrated and quitting for an NFL gig or back to ESPN.

There are a lot of coaches out there for USC that scare me more than Gruden.

On a somewhat related note, do you think Gruden would be successful recruiting? I know he's a big name and all, but his act is a bit clownish during broadcasts, and I'm wondering if he'd resonate with high schoolers that forget the Bucs won that super bowl.

Yeah I don't know if he will be the solution long-term but I bet he would be a hell of a recruiter with all his NFL connections.

Seriously, his broadcasts annoy me to no end.

Anyone who can even attempt to spin this as a negative hire for SC is on drugs. Gruden would land most any kid he went after and wouldn't even have to leave his office to do it.

I completely agree but I think it's important that he surround himself with the right staff. CFB guys, not NFL guys. As we saw with Weis, it's one thing to get the players and another thing to develop them.

He will have to dumb his schemes and expectations way down. After watching him interview QBs prior to the drafts it is obvious he knows a good mind in a player. I am a Bucs fan and if he goes to USC it will break my heart. Love Gruden.

 Every school/fanbase says they're going after Gruden. USC could pull it off, hope not, but...it's just so cliche at this point.

Because lord knows Gruden can't win titles without elite QBs...

Dear Jon Gruden,
Please don't go to USC. Southern California is overrated...nice weather year around, beautiful beaches, beautiful women, and close proximity to Los Angeles...who has time for all of that? There's a National League Football franchise located in Minneapolis, Minnesota that will need a coach by year's end however. We'll even have a top 3 draft pick so you'll be able to pick a franchise QB and I know how much you love QBs. From personal experience Minnesota is beautiful during the fall...

Signed,
Every Vikings fan anywhere.
