We really don't have a Heisman thread going for Josh Adams? It is a beauty contest folks - and he is our beauty! Yes he is a beneficiary of a monster OL but we should expect the top offensive producer on a Top 10 Notre Dame squad to be firmly in the discussion. In this case - he deserves it mightily (even this is shaping up to be a contest to see who finishes behind Barkley).

Yeah. I'd really like to see us win the Joe Moore award this year.

Though, after Adams had the long TD run I did contemplate having another child so I could name it after him.

In the sense of what the trophy SHOULD be, I agree. However, it has evolved to the flashiest player on one of the best teams so try to debate in that context.

beneficiary of a monster OL? sure. But you don't lead the country in yards after contact if you aren't a beast or an RB.

The Heisman campaign should highlight his blocking and stiff arms that have folded competitors in half. Maybe just a montage of stiff arm still shots with a pic of the Heisman Trophy as the last one.

I’ll agree with RDU here. And add if he finishes anywhere below 2nd on the Doak Walker Award it will be a joke as it stands now.

I look at the Heisman as take that player away and what kind of team do you have. OU is nowhere without Baker Mayfield. Penn State is nowhere without Barkley. Notre Dame could very well have the same record without Adams. That’s a compliment to every coach and player on the team not a slight on Adams.

If you agree that it's not a slight on Adams, you have to admit that's a pretty flawed test though. It disfavors players on talented teams and somehow even more disproportionately would favor QBs most years.

I've never seen that as being what the award is about.

I think Bama would have been just fine without Derrick Henry.

That's most valuable, IMO. The Heisman is supposed to go to the:

The Heisman Memorial Trophy (usually known colloquially as the Heisman Trophy or The Heisman), is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football in the United States whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.

I've never seen that as being what the award is about.

This is true. However, for the longest time it seemed to be the best RB on one of the top teams. Then morphed into the top QB on one of the top teams. Then they completely sold themselves out by giving it to JFF. SO while you are 100% accurate, not sure the voters care what it is SUPPOSED to be about.

Wooly, who would you give it to this year? For what the award is supposed to be about.

Agrees it’s a flawed test. QBs get all the publicity usually, defense never has a chance etc. That’s why I agreed with RDU. In my personal opinion on what the Heisman should be, Adams isn’t it is all I’m saying. I will also admit, one could argue I’m “too close” to the ND team and I im not giving Adams the respect he deserves on a national landscape because of my view of our OL.

Heisman is a popularity contest - Barkley has ESPN running a free PR campaign and our own broadcast can't stomach the thought of Adams as a contender? Schools pay money to promote these types of things and we are not.

Would love to see it more like STL states - who is the most impactful player on his team, BEST in CFB - which should ALWAYS include kids from less than Top 10 teams.

I have been tweeting at the AP and Heisman for weeks to get him in the conversation. He should be in New York.. First player in ND history to have 800+ yards in first 3 seasons. His YPC is insane as well. Get the kid in the convo.. Keep winning and he should be in it.

I love the kid, but Barkley is definitely the clear favorite as this point.

Who said that he has to be the favorite? Shouldn't we get the conversation going? The reality is that there's a lot of football left. Barkley could go down or Adams could simply outplay him the rest of the season. But we can't just start the conversation of whether Adams deserves to be in the conversation once he is the clear leader.

So far he hasn't even been in the conversation nationally. He's the top RB on one of the best teams in the nation. He's one of the rushing leaders in cfb. LETS GO!!!!

Look I love Adams and he absolutely should be top 5. But Barkley does it all. He has a KR TD, a passing touchdown, 3 receiving touchdowns, 450 receiving yards in addition to his 700 rushing yards. Without looking, Adams can't have more than 60 receiving yards this year can he? Sure, it is absolutely a popularity contest, but it is warranted for Barkley, and that pains me to say considering I hate PSU.

It is a long season. If Barkley has a poor performance at PSU and they lose, the race will really heat up if Adams continues to ball. If PSU goes undefeated, I can't see Barkley not winning.

That is fine, but they invite more than 1 player.. Getting Josh even to NY helps ND brand, and recruiting on so many levels. We want him also to be recognized for the stellar season he is having on a national level.

Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley would be my locks for an invite. After than there is a lot of discussion and football to be played.

If Sam Darnold even sniffs NYC I’m boycotting the whole thing.

If I'm voting, Barkley is battling it out with Mayfield for 3rd while Bryce Love tries to hold off Adams to the finish line.

But Love has the the two best PAC D's in UDub and Wazzu coming up along with ND. He's not going to keep up the current pace.

He's on pace to run for 1700 yards and 14 TDs on 200 carries or less. He's had runs of 70+ in the last three games. Josh Adams leading ND to playoffs after a 4-8 season is a good story too.
