Why say grades just come out then and post right after?
:banghead2
I think he assumed grades but he obviously didn’t read the article he linked. Javon McKinley’s mom called him out on it.

We should just run the ball. Every damn down.
We going Wishbone?

Seriously, if only we had someone left to throw to, and a QB capable of delivering, this would be a big development.
I don't post a lot here, but lurk quite a bit. I did want to throw my $.02 in here though. Since the advent of the playoff I don't believe the bowl games (outside of the playoffs) mean much to the players. For the blue blood programs it seems like it’s playoffs or bust. Bowl games outside of the playoffs just mean free swag and a month of extra practices in December (not sure players totally think that is a plus). I think this thought might have something to do with the way ND played their last two games. The stated goal of winning a natty was no longer attainable. Do I think that was the sole reason? Definitely not, but maybe played a small role. An expanded playoff might be better for post season play, but then regular season games become less important. Which is why college football is so great. I’m not sure which way I lean on that topic.
Time to go full Stanford: 13 personnel and Manball™ rushing punctuated by frequent jump balls to our TEs.
I know you're half kidding but I think this is the only thing that really even has a prayer of working. Honestly, with LSU's LBs out and our WR core decimated, anything other than some version of Zaire-vs-LSU (The Remix) for the game plan is probably a terrible idea. OL will be rested, Adams will be healthy, just run it and pray.
Because putting the game on Wimbush's arm is going to be a disaster without any WR that will remotely scare the LSU DBs.
Theft not grades

They need to show the same looks they showed against LSU in '14, except they need to actually let Wimbush try to read the triple option a few times.
My kingdom for a quarterback that BK actually trusts to make a read!
helen keller could read the option better than BW

I'm starting to wonder if there is something in the coaching that prevents ND QB's from making effective reads on the unblocked man.
That's a very good question. We've never had a QB under Kelly who could reliably execute the Zone Read, which has limited our offense in lots of ways.
I'm starting to wonder if there is something in the coaching that prevents ND QB's from making effective reads on the unblocked man. I am a 100% armchair QB that played OL when I played football, but I can still watch an ND play unfold in real time and recognize when it's time to pull the ball and keep it... Wimbush gets it right sometimes, and usually makes a nice weaving run for 10+. But he also gets it VERY wrong sometimes.
Same thing with Kizer, same thing with Golson, and even sometimes with Zaire (even though Zaire actually just got mostly designed runs, not reads).
It's not such a big deal if your QB can at least hit a WR with an accurate pass on a slant, but alas... We have zero things keeping the defense honest if Wimbush isn't on his game.
I agree about the bowl games being insignificant-I'm sure these guys most of the time just want to shut it down. The coaches and families love it for practice time and vacation but the players are the ones that have to play. Example I'm sure Big Mike and Q will bring it as leaders but what about (no names here) guys who are beat up mentally and physically. With what these guys went thru this year taking an average team with 3 pro prospects and winning 9 games I believe they are spent. There is some credence to the old Notre Dame custom of if it isn't a chance to play a really big bowl game let it go. I don't think they will be very motivated for this game with LSU and LSU will treat it as a super bowl game. Its a bad combination. And lastly aren't we tired of ESPN telling us how great these ridiculous games are--I men really most of these games if played during the regular season wouldn't even get a sniff of national attention. Do I really care about sc/Ohio State in the Cotton bowl-^&%% no. If it was the Rose Bowl it would be different. The beauty of college football is the regular season with games played at home against quality opponents or on the road against the same-these games are as anti-climactic as can be. And don't tell me about conference match ups and what it means -it means nothing-if Iowa played Fla during the regular season I would care-if they play in the Outback bowl I do not-hell they haven't played for a month so just roll the dice. College football has shot itself in the %$# with the way they have screwed up the bowl games and no matter what ESPN tells you about what a titanic matchup a game is its really not. And don't get me started on the semi pro 85 guys on campus to win a football game 4 way playoff-you could change uniforms and all 4 teams would look like each other-minor league pros who rally aren't college guys. And this year ironic as %$## all 4 teams spiff some shade of red-appropriate and ironic. I love college football especially Notre Dame but this not good anymore. When would I ever watch FAU play a football game.

most definitely, there hasn't been a QB who can read the option in the entire BK era.
The irony is BK had success at GVSU running an option offense in his early days :S
I was thinking about this. I'm thinking our TEs could/should make the difference in keeping LSU honest. Of course we would have to blow the dust off the playbook to incorporate them. I think they are the answer.
If ND needs motivation after a 4 win season going to a Jan 1 bowl, then they just flat out suck. Thats like a homeless man complaining about living in a middle class neighborhood after living under a bridge for years...
