Let's compare to his UC days, because it's still relevant! Zach Collaros ran the zone-read almost exclusively when he took over for injured Tony Pike, and it also made him a better passer because defense were forced to account for RB AND QB on ever play.
Not coincidentally, that was one of the most productive TE years BK has coached, too, as they had TE's combine for like 700 yards and 10 TD's. Those seams were OPEN.
They don't even need to be aggressive in attacking the seam. ND should be able to run a grade-school f*cking pop pass with the way teams load the box... take the snape, linemen all cut block, Wimbush throws an easy 5-yard popup over the linebackers. It's a guaranteed conversion when you need it most!
You forget that that's about the same distance of pass as a stinking screen pass. Wimbush would somehow throw it toward the ankles of the tight end and it would be intercepted by the linebacker.
