Thank you all for your concern LOL. I ended up working late and then totally spaced on this when I did get home. Here goes...

On Oklahoma... sources (re: coaches) are saying the game plan is to run the ball and play ball control offense. Doesn't seem like there is a lot of faith in the D's ability to stop the Oklahoma attack. I'm expecting a bad loss.

Crootin'...
-Lots of visitors in town this weekend, but USC seems like the end-all be-all of recruiting weekends. This weekend you've mostly got underclassmen plus some current commits. For Oklahoma you've got commits in Weishar, Brent, and Tillery + Aliz'e Jones + a lot of prospects without an offer... Morgan, Vann, Littlejohn, Austin Mack... guys ND very well might offer down the road.
-Status quo with Tranquill. I personally continue to believe he is a very valuable piece for this class for when we play spread teams with speed in the future, and I think he's got a similar athletic profile to Zeke Motta except maybe a tad faster straight line speed. The question will be how much he can bulk up and if he can play with "power" at all. I really hope we land him.
-Tillery looks like the cornerstone to 2015. The fact that he's making so many trips to South Bend and that he didn't go to Texas A&M/Alabama is a big statement.
-McKenzie seems to be but a formality in terms of a commit. May announce on USC weekend. He's making good academic progress... still has yet to take SAT.
-Our OL commits are currently recruiting Bo Scarborough and to me he seems to be the only real RB target left on the board. IMO, he's very similar to Hood but less of a natural RB so I like Scarborough less. But he's a PHENOMENAL athlete. Will visit ND for the USC game and right now it's probably a toss up between Florida and Alabama.
-Hoge, along with every recruit seemingly on the face of this earth, will be visiting for the USC game. I'm not sure how much I like this super recruiting weekend thing because it failed last time in 2011, but it also has potential to be awesome I guess. With respect to Hoge... if ND can lock him down it'll more or less close out OL recruiting for 2015 save elite prospects that the coaches can be very picky on.
-While many believed Rosen would shut ti down for Stanford if offered, he seems pretty perturbed by the lack of offer from them. He doesn't plan on seriously getting into recruiting until after his season and he's no longer a Stanford lock. I still expect him to stay west, but ND will have a shot. Just another example of how not offering early can burn you.
-Tyler Luatua eliminated Ohio State citing "shady business"... sound like they were telling him he was their "#1 guy" and then looked to have him move his visit or otherwise is more interested in Mike Gesicki from NJ. Gesicki visited Notre Dame and our coaches chose not to offer/pursue. Or maybe Meyer told him he'd be the "next Aaron Hernandez" and that struck the wrong cord ;).... either way, looks down to Alabama and ND and I like our chances if we don't tank down the stretch here.

Not much in Intel this week... the biggest takeaway is that McKenzie, Quick, Scarborough, and Elam all might have trouble qualifying for ND. And those are some of our best shots right now for impact players.

On ASU... expect us to try to run the ball and hopefully not turn it over. We'll see what happens. I'm not optimistic, mainly because I think the ASU team is designed to shred our defense so we might have to abandon the run sooner rather than later, but that's why they play the games. If ASU has a bunch of self-inflicted wounds like they did against Stanfod we might have a shot.

So funny, I love their lead-ins to their stories. They say there's a new big visitor, and you need to read the Intel to find out who it is--the file name of the picture they posted is TashonSmallwood.jpg LOL.

Haha welp, so much for protecting the information behind a paywall.

Yeah, Smallwood is visiting. So is Tranquill.

ISD breaks down how they rate each of the 2014 visitors for the game:
McKenzie - Hot... surprising to me with all of the bluster about WVU and things I've heard, I wonder if ISD is out of the loop here.
Luatua - Hot... think this is a done deal unless the visit sucks/Ole Miss was awesome. He's been more or less in the ND boat for awhile now.
Quick - Warm... they think we're in good position, but with his decision schedule he could possibly end up somewhere else. May accelerate that schedule... who knows.
Tranquill - Warm... still a tight race. A stinker by Purdue + strong performance by ND might seal it. Or vice versa might seal it for Purdue.
Watkins - Warm... says he wants to take all OVs, but could possibly pull the trigger on the visit. I hope he does.
Smith - Warm... everyone seems to like our chances here better than I do. I guess we'll see.
Brown - Warm... the Washington commit allegedly has some really strong interest in ND and the feeling is mutual.
Hendrix - Moderate... chances go up a lot if we land Watkins.
Elam - Moderate... I think we have a solid shot here. He realizes the opportunity he has with Nix leaving for early playing time. Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio State, and Tennessee are the others... so Notre Dame is a bit of an outlier... I think we've got a legitimate shot to make a big impression.
Mama - Moderate... will be tough pull from west coast, but he has legitimate interest so this visit could go a long way. Need to have an A+ visit to stay in the race.
Lazard - Moderate... status quo. Need ISU implosion + firing probably coupled with awesome ND experience.
Smallwood - Cool... this visit will gauge interest level.
Scarborough - Cool... trail both Alabama and Florida. Need a big visit.
Morgan - Cool... will be fresh off his Ole Miss visit with Treadwell (he might not even make it, IMO, if he commits to the rebels this weekend)... is very intrigued by the opportunity for early PT and that's about all we have going for us. Plus his family I guess.

I think the USC game next week lands ND a few verbals, the atmosphere should be off the hook. This is the year in which the mega recruiting weekend pays off

If we play well. Big if. This is the most important game of the season, Stanford and bowl game be damned. Win this and we likely close with some good recruiting setting up the future.

The Smallwood visit is interesting. I'd like to hear more about that and how it came about. Excited nonetheless, I think we have to have 1 more NT/DT with Dickerson already on board.

Recent 247 article:

“Smallwood is a big three-technique,” said long time Central East assistant football Coach Tony Perry. “He is very quick, strong 6-foot-1, 295-pound defensive tackle that is like a defensive end. He is very quick off the ball, and he is an inside guy as he plays the nose then sometimes over the guard. He always has to be double teamed and he usually beats that double team. He is a very good D-tackle.”

Big Intel just dropped, updates below...

-They expect Tranquill to change his pledge this weekend or shortly after.
-For months they've been saying Luatua is a virtual lock for ND, even whether other places point to Bama and California schools. They think he makes the pledge this weekend, but there's a solid chance he could wait... they think Tranquill is more likely than Luatua.
-They think McKenzie would've offered his pledge and we would've accepted. Seems like he's actually following the step-by-step road map we laid out for him unlike some other recruits. Expect him to be Irish if the test score/academics check out.
-There's a punchers chance on Watkins/Hendrix if everything goes perfect. Otherwise, expect them to drag it out.
-Contrary to other reports, they don't expect Hoge to pull the trigger. He has the Irish #1, but wants to take other visits. Makes sense.
-Alford visited Scarborough this week and ND made up a lot of ground. Still trail Florida/Alabama who could be considered "tied" at the top, but wit ha great visit ND should be in the race. Academic hurdles still there.
-Quick likes ND a lot but seems pretty set on a long decision process.
-Might be in a better position with Mama than we thought and have a puncher's chance.
-Pretty open race for Juju. ND has a good shot.
-Elam might be our best shot at a dominant interior DL.
-Status quo for Lazard... if he does flip because of something drastic at Iowa State, expect it to be to ND, but that's unlikely.
-Brown is probably behind Quick and Lazard on the ND board, so if McKenzie hops on the train as expected ND might not have room for Brown depending on how things shake out with Quick/Lazard.
-Need a paradigm shifting visit with regards to Nyles Morgan. Parents are likely the only reason he's making a visit. If he hits it off with other players or loves the atmosphere or has some sort of unlikely epiphany then we'll have a shot, but right now it's hard to take us seriously as a contender when he has so little interest.
-Some minor notes on Cornell, Smallwood, Barnett, and Andre Robinson... the most interesting note was on Barnett, who was apparently a baller his first year as a starting QB and could land an offer. Andre Robinson is a guy ND could offer later and already has some serious BCS offers and mututal itnerest with ND... this is his second visit.
-Also 6'6" Bishop Dwenger WR/TE Keenan Centlivre has accepted a preferred walk-on position.

And the kicker that will send this board a frenzy... ND has ramped up contact with Nathan Starks. If ND continues to seriously pursue him, it will likely be a battle with Oklahoma to the ND.

BTW I love me some Blake Barnett highlights. Total sleeper right now.

<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/93UqTlmyhMM?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/93UqTlmyhMM?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Not a blazing fast athlete, but very fluid. Wish he had a more compact throwing motion but he can spin it.
