Is Notre Dame the only program that does it the right way?

I keep hearing about doing it the right way. ND does it the right way. Now I'm seeing ND fans criticize Stanford, of all schools, of cutting corners and not doing it the right way because they have easier degrees and classes than we do. And then of course every other team that is doing well must clearly be cheating, going all in and being a football factory

So is ND the only school that does it 'the right way'? And if so, have they taken it too far and priced themselves out of the market?

Nobody does it right like ND. We are superior in every way but Football.

but yup, and that's why a lot of folks hate us.

and to be clear, i love the way ND does things (most of the time), and proud of it...but i don't like the mega superior attitude of some fans.

Stanford does it the “smart” way. My understanding is that while it’s more difficult to get admitted to Stanford than ND, it’s tougher to stay eligible at ND due to difficulty of classload. I believe Stanford players can take a course on “Football” that counts towards their degree in additional to easier majors. If that is incorrect, I know someone can clarify on this board but I believe that may be why we never hear about Stanford football players being academically ineligible due to grades or “cheating”. The only player I can recall Stanford suspending was one of their stud LB for a DUI a few years ago. If they don’t have an easier academic path, they have to be the best behaved student-athletes in America.

Obvious Troll is becoming, obvious.

Why is he a troll? Is it because he is generating discussions that do not play into the “ND is the greatest thing slice bread and you shall be excommunicated if you don’t believe the sun revolves around the earth” typical threads?

Feel like Im taking crazy pills. There is literally a 0% chance this thread is made if ND didnt wet themselves and embarrass the living crap out of the school, program, and fanbase on Saturday.

No offense, but this seems like a classic "people have said" kind of statement that coaches/players hate in press conferences. Who is saying that on here and where? What specifically did they say?

Post-Harbaugh Stanford is an extremely clean program. They did publish an "easy class" list for athletes, and they still have those classes. Shaw does make some outlandish comments about how hard their admissions are that simply aren't true.

ND's administration ensures they run about as clean of a program as they can. That doesn't mean bad stuff never happens... it does. It's just not institutionally supported the way it is at football factories. As an aside, the title of this post is one of the main reasons people think Notre Dame fans are pompous.

I mean, he's right. Sucks that Bama can have Trent Richardson (long time ago, I know) driving around in a $50,000 car with $10,000 rims and not forfeit his eligibility somehow, but ND will never pursue such devious means to gain success on the football field. What we should do is venture into Stanford territory and develop a curriculum specifically for 5-star guys that have zero intention on graduating. That could be the window to land the Tee Higgins and 5-star RBs that Bama has 4 or 5 of at a time. Do it. Just do it.

Some programs are dirtier than others. I would wager that at least half of the programs (Mostly the bottom feeders) are doing it the right way, otherwise you would expect better results and recruits. I'm sure we have some shady things that go on behind closed doors, but I don't think it's on the coach's side really. I think some players see an easier road like with the Frozen 5 and they try to cut some corners. That said, when 3 players all come back from random drug tests by testing positive for a banned substance, I think all players should be tested. That's more than a coincidence.

Why does this guy keep creating trolly/bot-esque threads?

I've been a member here for 8 months. I've created two threads questioning the program in that tine right after getting crushed in yet again, another major bowl. Both in a respectful tone.

But if you want to act like I'm some troll who waited 8 months to go active then go right ahead.

Turtle, people are beginning to think you're a troll because you've started 7 new threads in the last 9 days. None of the topics involved were unique or important enough to merit its own thread. Your takes can be as pessimistic, "real", etc. as you want; just find an existing thread to post them in. Starting a new thread every day since the Cotton Bowl screams either "I'm looking for attention regardless of the quality of my posts" or "I'm an emotional wreck and demand others join me in my misery regardless of how this board works". Neither one of those is going to win you many friends around here.

I never called you a troll. I asked why you are creating so many, troll-like, threads.

See the difference?
