Thanks BGIF.......I did not know that!!! While I still question CBK at times, hes done an outstanding job this year!! Loses starting RB, QB & TE early in the season, loses two games by a combined 4 pts......not too shabby!

Yeah...that's kind of eye opening (the only coach with 200 wins). If we had pulled off either of the two games we lost he may have been coach of the year.

I saw that a few days back and then saw this thread today. This should answer the answer question. We can have the best coach in the game and still not let this thread die.

I looked at the coaching stats for the current crowd having at least ten seasons. I'd say that college football has about 10 coaches who might reasonably be called proven outstanding [I don't even know what the term "elite" would mean in this context.] In my opinion, our coach is in the top half of those.

There are some persons who say that there are only two, or even one, such admirable coach --- despite one of them not running Zeke Elliot at the goal line in the most important game, and hardly running him at all, and the other consistently having trouble creating excellent QB play year after year, despite being able to recruit anyone he wants to. Yep, those guys are perfect.

.... we will NEVER get the mass-posters of IE to agree that we have one of the absolute best coaches in the nation no matter how many aspects of running a program he takes from mediocrity to lofty heights. Just like we'll never stop ragging on certain standing whipping boy issues with ND football --- giving the OLine he!l and Coach Harry less than an A grade was the nadir for me ... smh incredible.

Absolutely not.

It's a bad one, but not worst. (although I've derived a lot of enjoyment out of watching this horse repeatedly beaten, we may as well name it Whitney Houston. Too soon?)


If we perform well in the bowl game, I think it has to at least suspend this thread for a year.

Haha, worst/greatest. I love this thread and hope it never does, purely for the comedy of the OP. The OP went on ISD and argued all off-season about how great Kelly is and how he is only slightly below (if that) Urban Meyer as being an elite coach. And this was one game removed from this thread where he was questioning whether Kelly was even a good coach lol.

Bring it up to the OP and he'll argue that it was his right to 'vent' as a Notre Dame fan and that Kelly made enough changes in the off-season to go from being an "HORRIBLE in-game coach!!!" to an elite one lol. You can't make this stuff up.

I heard that he averages 9.5 wins per year (including bowl games and D2 playoffs) over his career.

I went back to the first page and I remembered two things:

1. I'm so glad Title2214/NoJusticeNoPeace was banned, dude was insufferable. (I hated that he had Rick Sanchez as his avatar at first, my favorite cartoon by far).

2. Crazy Balki's opinions are like Jerry Springer: terrible but they manage to draw my attention for their comedic or shock value.

I like that we showed out better than Michigan and were really only at 80% with all injuries concerned.

I hate that Michigan will now jump us in the final poll.
