I may see it this weekend. What would you compare it to in the MCU as far as how you like it. Maybe a better way to say this is where would you rank it MCU-wise? Middle or better or down with IM2 and Thor 2?

I would say it’s one of the weaker MCU movies but that isn’t a huge knock because I don’t think there are any truly bad MCU movies. It’s better than Thor 2 and Iron Man 2. I’d put it on par with the First Avenger, the Ant-Man movies, and Dr Strange.

Thanks. I see it in about an hour.

I actually liked it more than I thought I would. I have been hearing all the social media takes on it. I don't think it's in the upper half of the MCU, but it is good. I think Marvel's marketing department did a horrible job in its marketing campaign.

I do wish we saw a bit more Phil

I will agree that the marketing has sucked so far. The trailers I've seen have show Capt Marvel as a stoic strong figure similar to Thor from some of the first trailers for Thor 1. That's unappealing to me. The only reason I'd bother with the movie is because I know she's integral to Endgame.

The movie was good not great. Some of the girl power stuff was a bit on the nose, but it was a win for the human spirit. The continuity did seem to make things a bit off. Brie Larson was a bit off but other than that it was a good movie. Better than Iron Man 2 and Thor 2.

I've seen this complaint before, but I don't get it. What seemed off about the continuity to you?

I do believe there might be a slight issue regarding Fury's eye, but the tessaract timeline holds up.

Can you explain the tesseract timing?
Nick Fury's Eye seems off from Winter Soldier.
Shield was big we new from the previous Ant man and Captain America movies in the 90s.
Also you would have thought that news of aliens would have been out in the public before 2012 in the movies after Captain Marvel.

I know Im nit-picking but I am a nerd for this stuff.

The tessaract is pretty straightforward. Howard Stark finds it while looking for Steve Rogers. Howard Stark later worked with PEGASUS, which was not part of SHIELD back then. It was a joint project of the USAF and NASA. Mar-Vell gets control of the tessaract through her infiltration of PEGASUS. The events of Captain Marvel transpire, and it ends up at SHIELD, where it remains until the events of The Avengers. Along the way, PEGASUS is restarted, this time by SHIELD.

It was a lot better than I expected from the social media reviews.
Wasn't a fan of Brie herself. Pretty poor performance.

I just stopped by wiki, and decided it was the 16th best Marvel film.
I was pretty surprised/disappointed how they handled the Skrull story.

They sure weren't the Skrulls of my childhood!

I have heard it described as Brie was a supporting character in her own movie. Also, I think a concern is that she is way overpowered compared to the other Avengers. Per the comics, Scarlet Witch should be one of the most powerful but they haven't explored that.

Agree with the Skrulls... SPOILER (highlight to see) If the Skrulls are just friendly refugees, how is there ever a Secret Invasion which was one of Marvel comics best stories

I enjoyed it - debriefing with my 15 year old decided it was a mid tier MCU offering, also decided that none of the movies suck. Watched as a stand alone without any context of the others it would not have been nearly as good though. Fury was a bit too much of a puss - he goes from that to total hard ass in like ten years really?

Enjoyed the INTRO hat tip to Stan Lee - and unexpected cameo.

New Endgame trailer:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Whatever it takes. Watch the brand new trailer for Marvel Studios’ <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AvengersEndgame?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AvengersEndgame</a>, in theaters April 26. <a href="https://t.co/PjfoMUkzcG">pic.twitter.com/PjfoMUkzcG</a></p>— Marvel Entertainment (@Marvel) <a href="https://twitter.com/Marvel/status/1106164808515235841?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 14, 2019</a></blockquote>

Theories out there about Banner/Hulk not being present for the "group" shots in the trailers, but there are clear gaps where they've taken him out of both trailers now... what are they hiding???

Also, I thought those were space suits, but Twitter is calling them Quantum Realm suits... the key is obviously the Quantum Realm, as Scott Lang was there during the snap, but somehow got out on his own?

Is anyone else worried that there will be very little action for a majority of the movie?

The word is it will be around 3 hours or so. I think we will get similar action as there was in Infinity War, a couple main battles with bits thrown in around the results reaction to the decimation, exposition, and plan to undo the snap.

It's interesting how with Ragnarok and IW they made Thor from one of the most forgettable Avengers to my personal favorite.

He's a god. He's OP. Now that they're letting him show off some of his god power, rather than keeping him bogged down and dampening his powers via the narrative, he's awesome.

Also, they really did a good job with building on his "kind of a ditzy blonde" humor, while also developing him through his family issues with believable emotional moments.

Speaking of relative power levels: Lol at Black Widow shooting at targets with a handgun in this world of Gods/ Aliens/ Hulks.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I mean if I want to go watch a movie for the dialogue a Marvel movie probably isn't my first, second, or third choice.

I feel like it's going to be 2 hours of build up and one final big battle.

I doubt that. Like Connor said, it'll probably be like IW with battles scattered throughout, with one big one at the end.

Who exactly would the Avengers be battling though? Thanos isn't a fair fight before they do whatever they are going to do to weaken him.

I guess I'm not seeing a viable opponent and/or reason to be fighting throughout the movie.

There's a lot of time travel theories where they need to go back to the Battle of New York etc. The idea that there will be no action in the movie is pretty unlikely; I bet the reason there's little action in the trailers is that the scenes would be spoilers.

To expand on this, I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this...

1/2 hour of Iron Man floating in space and the rest of them figuring out why they are alive but others aren't.
1/2 hour of Hawkeye and Ant Man showing up and Iron Man being saved.
1/2 hour of developing the Bruce/Natasha romance and other interpersonal relationships.
1/2 of them coming up with a plan to defeat Thanos

That leaves an hour. I could see a battle with Thanos somewhere in there where he just toys with them and they are handily defeated.

That honestly doesn't sound too bad to me, though.

So many different ways to go, and the pieces getting put in place is a good bit of the fun, IMO.

I'm really curious as to what they will do that will get Thanos' attention, since he's currently retired to his homestead with his mangled hand and armor scarecrow watching his fields.

I like how the dust forms the A at the end of the trailer - nice imagery of putting the pieces back together.

What are the odds of some massive time travel induced re-set to open the door to do-overs on the entire MCU?
