If the producers aren’t lying about “Far from Home” taking place after “Endgame,” then we now know that Fury lives and that Tony Stark is either dead or 100% retired. I’m gonna guess retired, otherwise there wouldn’t be a need for Happy Hogan to still be helping out... it would just be Fury.

Pretty obvious Happy has a thing for Aunt Mae - might be working of the clock. Don't like how Spiderman's identity seems to be the worst kept secret in Marvel with Mae and Fury in on it. Mae especially - hiding from Mae and the weak ass excuses are classic material that this one gets away from. Either way a must see- love what they have done with this iteration of Spiderman.

I'd say good, but I thought Infinity War was actually the better movie released in 2018. Also, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse was better than either

Infinity War was definitely better than Black Panther on a simple film-to-film basis.

The job they did juggling so many headlining characters and tying into a plot that didn't feel overwhelming was amazing.

Devil's Advocate:

HOWEVER. If they have a specific set of criteria for what makes a movie "The Best," it might include cultural impact or something similar.

Infinity War was a better movie, but Black Panther had a greater impact for its audience.

BP was a good movie, but that’s it. I can appreciate how culturally significant it is. It’s good to see the black community have a character of their own. But this movie is just a middle of the pack MCU movie. Nominating it for best picture is just virtue signaling by the academy.

Just finished season 2 of the Punisher. It's a shame it's inevitably going to be cancelled. Just as brutal as the first season. I really liked the new villain but wish we got a little more of his back story. Agent Madani was much better this season. Mahoney was annoying though. The ending wasn't as satisfying as I hoped but it was still good. Definitely recommend it.

Actually haven't started it yet. My only question is does it have that kind of dead few episodes that so many of these have had where it feels like the story doesn't advance? My biggest complaint about Marvel Netflix shows is that would be better with a tighter 8 or 9 episode run versus 13.

Yeah, it does. It could have easily been a few episodes shorter. There’s still too much Madani and too much of new psychiatrist character. Would have preferred less of those two but that’s really my only complaint.

Saw Aquaman today. Loved it. Mamoa killed it. Amber Heard is awesome and hot. Interesting to see where DC goes with this. AM and WW can’t change as they have a good thing going there. Shame it didn’t work out with Cavill as I thought his downfall was because of shitty writing and poor story.

I rewatched ‘Man of Steel’ recently, and I actually thought it was a much better story than I remembered, and a much better movie than people give it credit for. Cavill’s under-acting kind of works for the part of Superman, IMO, at least in terms of the way they showed his origin and character development.

They didn’t do a good job with ‘Dawn of Justice’ or ‘Justice League,’ but I think that’s because of writing and story, like you said.

Just read this and I agree 100%. Watched Man Of Steel this week and really enjoyed it and thought the story was well done. DoJ and JL were an absolute train wreck. DC definitely put the ball on the ground with those two.

Anyone catch the Thursday night screening of Captain Marvel last night? Was looking for any non-spoiler thoughts or feedback.

Everyone one I know thinks Man of Steel and WW are the best DC movies out, never hear anyone talking down on Man of Steel

I think when it first came out people hated how it jumped around so much. Plus I think it got beat up because it did not follow the model of an MCU storyline. And also people thought it was 'so dark".

Yes, everyone thought it was too dark, and it was a travesty that they forced Superman into the moral choice at the end.

It DID jump around a lot, and the plot was cram-packed with like two or three movies worth of story lines. But I thought it was all handled really well, and the movie in general flowed nicely. It feels like an 'epic' when I watch it.

I'm always amazed at the world they created for the first 20 minutes of the movie with Krypton. You get the sense of how advanced and amazing the society was, but you see it as it's being destroyed. The mystique is always awesome to me, especially as you see these politicians worrying about small-potatoes stuff while their world dies around them.

Then you get a short but effective origin for Clark on Earth, learning to deal with his powers, while also getting the 'family impact' angle without being beat over the head with it.

Then you get epic, well-done action sequences on earth, both in terms of Clark's exploits and when he's fighting Zod's people.

You've also got an archaeological epic tied in with the arctic dig and the discovery of the ship.

Then it's all tied up with another huge action sequence where you can really *feel* the world being crushed under the weight of the World Engine.

I think Cavill did a really nice job of Superman in all of his DC movies. I think he was stuck with poor writing in BvS and JL, but I think he was the best part of those movies as well as his yurns there played off his reaction to the occurrences in MoS. I think there were some understated ways he played the character that gave it a decent story arc in spite of the writing in his 2nd and 3rd appearances. If you ever watch JL again, notice how the movie only comes alive when he does and the seen in the corn field with Lois is touching. I will miss him in the role.

I actually think that Affleck's Batman from the start of BvS could have been a great character, but I think they should have gone more into an exploration of how he got there emotionally rather than just showing Robin's suit spray painted with the message from Joker. Then DC screwed it up completely by making him the wacky comic relief in JL.

Gadot was good with what she was given in her introduction in BvS and great in WW despite some issues I have with the writing in that one. I think her naivete through most of WW to finally learning that things are more complex and experiencing loss was well portrayed. I don't think she was given enough in JL as a character and except for a couple of things was mainly around for her powers.

I tend to be a Marvel fan more than DC but still appreciate the DC characters. But I think they took Marvel's biggest problem and had had it about 10 times worse. I think that the bad guys in the DCU are mostly worse than the dark elf in Thor The Dark World at best and on level with Mickey Rourke from Iron Man 2 at worst. I did not like Zod in MoS but things got worse from there. Lex Luthor, Doomsday, Ares, and Steppenwolf had no depth or story, they just were chasing macguffins to rule the world and had to be stopped before doing so. Don't even get me started on Enchantress or Leto's thug life Joker. Marvel has had a ton of bad guy issues big time except for Loki until Zemo, who I didn't like at first, but came to realize this was just a normal guy, whose life was ripped apart due the actions of the Avengers and decided he was going to rip them apart without superpowers and he did it. Thanos shined in Infinity War (it was really his movie and not the heroes). Ego at least had a story line and an emotional connection to Starlord. Michael Keaton was badass as Vulture, the scene at his home and in the car with Peter as he goes from not knowing this kid to his realization of who he is and his reaction should be used as an instructional video to actors.

Batman is probably my favorite comic book character (tied with Wolverine) but I was never that into Justice League because the powers of Superman/WW/Aquaman, etc. always made Batman seem lame. The movies didn't help because Batman was just the ringleader and didn't really do much damage fighting.

Avengers >>>>> Justice League. Both comics and movies.

Dark Knight >>>>>> any other comic book movie.

Just got back from Captain Marvel. Lots of people giving false reviews both for and against the movie so I say go see it for yourself and find out. It isn’t great. It isn’t bad either. It’s a decent movie with good humor, some good action, some interesting twists, and a killer mid-credit scene. It’s not without its flaws though. Brie Larson is just okay. I think some of her scenes suffered from the writing and directing. They beat you over the head with the 90s references. There is one fight scene that throws in a very on the nose 90s song that made me cringe. A couple of the characters I was excited to see are barely in the movie. I think a lot of the focus of the writer was dropping easter eggs and trying really hard to tie this movie to the rest of the MCU. They should have focused more on Captain Marvel, the Kree, and the Skrulls than forcing the tie-ins to other movies. Overall I say it’s entertaining but nowhere near as good as it should have been.

I may see it this weekend. What would you compare it to in the MCU as far as how you like it. Maybe a better way to say this is where would you rank it MCU-wise? Middle or better or down with IM2 and Thor 2?

Heading to the theater now. Wife and kids are at Grandma's house and the theater is showing it in IMAX 2D, which is the undisputed best format for any superhero movie.

I'm taking my son tonight.
Not expecting Civil War or Homecoming awesomeness, but hoping it's better than Thor 1 and 2.

Just ended. I honestly thought it was fantastic. It was Thor 1 mixed with Guardians of the Galaxy 1. The SJW bullshit was kept to an absolute minimum and you can easily view the main "girl power" moment as more of a general "triumph of the human spirit" moment. The head Skrull had some great moments of humor similar to what we got from Korg in Thor 3.

This is what a good Superman movie would look like.

Stay for mid credits. Skip post credits.
