What about Frost?

Maybe having limited options will force them to open up the pocket book. Quietly offer $8M per year to Urban, Stoops or Peterson. Maybe one bites.

I’d take Frost. Dude has worked miracles at UCF.

One very important thing to remember here folks... Tennessee is getting turned down by these coaches because of the $$$ being offered. Everyone of those coaches takes the job if UT offered $7.5M.

Dollar for dollar, Tennessee is a Top 15ish destination job. At the moment because of the AD and the $$$ being offered, it's not. If Tom Jurich had been the AD there and he had hired James Franklin away from Vandy in 2013 instead of PSU, the Vols are a CFP contender right now. Tennessee is a sleeping giant.

Agree. Just get the right guy that can coach and recruit and they can be back in the top fifteen pretty quickly.

Another thing to consider. Everyone is talking about money, best jobs, boosters and the admins, but you're all leaving out one very important item, the Mrs. Given these coaches are already making millions, stability (not uprooting the kids, family ties, short time at current job, etc.) may be more important than another million or so.

Brad Stevens turned down a lot of offers and money to coach at bigger named schools. His wife came out and said they were already making more than enough to be comfortable with no worries. He only went to the Celtics because it was the NBA and it is arguably the premier franchise in the NBA. He would still be at Butler if the Celtics hadn't called. Damn you Danny Ainge.

Doeren turns down the Vols. How sad and funny at the same time.

He's been good but its been two years. College football always has these guys that look great at lower level schools and then struggle when they move up. Look at Sumlin. Guy had Houston up to #7 and beat Penn State in the Cotton Bowl. Started out great at A&M but things turned and he couldn't get it back on track.

Maybe Frost is the next big thing but I've seen this too many times to want him at ND.

Trolling FSU boards and they believe Taggart has a handshake deal in place at FSU, AND would try to hire Elko away from ND if he doesn't keep his current DC. Hopefully the Elko portion is bullshit.

Why would anyone want to leave the ACC ... for the SEC?

Who cares. If he takes it he's not the guy I thought he was. My guess is Elko isn't going anywhere and he has a plan that includes a bigger house in Michiana.

Well since they cheaped themselves out of hiring my pick, Jeff Brohm, they should go after my #2 pick = Dino Babers.

When Dino says no and @VolNation says no to Kevin Sumlin just give Tee Martin the job and be done with it.

In the end they'll have to do this last ditch $9M per hire:

Kiffin is trolling Tennessee so bad. Supposedly he went on Finebaum's show and said that he is no longer interested in the TN job. He said he would have been two weeks ago but not now.

We will never know if Kiffin would've taken the job or not, because no way the TN admin will offer him it now. Regardless, Kiffin took the opportunity to do what he does best .... troll.

TN is better off without Lane. He'd do well recruiting and on the field, but he's just another cluster waiting to happen. His trolling is hilarious, but suggests he hasn't learned a damn thing over the years from all of his ups and downs.

They'll end up with Les or some tier 2 or 3 guys that the admin thinks is the second coming of XXX....

SI now reporting that the Vols are after Sumlin.

I would consider UT a better job than NCS. At least their fans support their football and it doesn't take a back seat to Bball.

We're on the same wave length here. Dial in to 9 kHz folks.

where did you see this?
i was texting with UT buds just this morning, and both said they wish Peyton would just come coach for a couple years while searching, or groom someone to take over. Didn't hear anything near being irritated at him. Small sample, but they're up with all the news generally. They are tossing around names like Steele, Martin, Leach... and now Les Miles

Couple of threads on Volnation. There is some narrative that Peyton okay'd the Schiano hire and would be dead set against Tee Martin. Apparently there isn't much love lost between the two.

Because Martin replaced PM and won a NC, where PM failed to. I love PM, but he does have an ego. He just hides it well.

I like Tee a lot, not sure he's ready to be a HC at a school that needs a lot of fixing. But again, he could be the perfect thing. He's been an OC two years at USC. USC over the last 4-5 years has improved in total O year over year. Tee currently has them at 10 i think.

IMO, Schiano would have been a good hire.... so I'm not faulting PM for that. I had no idea about bad blood between he and Tee. And I've been a PM guy for a long time, been to a lot of Vol games, and have a lot of Vol alum super fans as buds.
