For those that don't know, Mendelson had been on staff at ND for a few years. He now gets his shot to lead an OL group.

Two formers ND offensive coaches at WMU now. If any ND OL jumps into the portal, keep an eye out for Mendelson to swoop in. Football is a game of relationships, and who you know.

Not sure if it deserved its own thread and had not seen it posted elsewhere, but we finished #18 in the final AP poll.

Crazy to think what we would have been rated in Freeman's first year if we just win Stanford and Marshall. (Then again, you're probably playing a better team than SCar to close out the year.) I would say teams 8-18 would all compete with each other pretty well.

A few surprises there. Fitzgerald put us a spot or two ahead of the average. Pittman, Calhoun, and Wilson really don't like ND. Niumatalolo wasn't a fan either. Moorhead really wants to be Irish someday.

I thought the same thing about Moorhead when I saw that. Maybe he knows something about Tommy we don't?

Shoutous to Mike Elko for the ND/Clemson ranking. That's a dude that keeps tabs on one of his old jobs. (Immediate success at Duke; previous experience coordinating/recruiting for ND... is he a Freeman replacement candidate, should Freeman leave for any reason in the near future???)

Also, shoutout to the Nard Dog for not quite having the heart to put ND ahead of Pitt. Had to make sure Pitt was just one tiny spot ahead... probably sent a picture of his ballot to Philly J. when he submitted it.

Kinda wild how Elko was the only person - other than Freeman - who ranked us ahead of Clemson, when we beat the pants off of them and nothing happened in the closing weeks of the season to suggest that was a fluke.
Also Dino Babers, Notre Dame beat your team a lot more easily than Clemson did. For that matter we beat BC by more than Clemson did too.

Freeman needs to check himself before he rates Michigan above TCU. If we ever have the power to rank Michigan/USC lower in anything, I would hope we would take it.

Even Marcus Freeman has the Oregon State Beavers ahead of Notre Dame.

Not something I saw happening going into this season. I may never live this down.

That peaked my interest, as I had not yet looked at any end of season rankings. So, I pulled up the S&P+ and it has Notre Dame at 37. I immediately regret doing so.

Syler Hartner is going to be an electric factory this fall. We aren't going to know what to do with a vertical passing game and efficient red zone offense. Reesus going to be dialing up some good ones fellas!

Alexa- play Damsha Bua on repeat

Someone please find the stats for that metric across all FBS. I wanna know where we were this year and last year, it had to be near the bottom 10-15% this year. Last year.....probably bottom half?
Couldn't find air yard stats, but

Drew Pyne was 129th in FBS football in ADOT. .....Hartman was 1st.

Tom Z was on the Goolsby Show this week on Blue and Gold. Was nice to hear from him. Hopefully Goolsby can keep getting some fun alums. Nice to hear how these old guys are doing these days. Pretty fun to see my childhood heroes living their very normal lives.

They (Sampson talking with Prister) said Pyne was the only QB in the country to have at least 10 TD, with no interceptions, in throws over 20 yards.
That was surprising to me.

Pyne didn’t take a lot of risks (how many of those TD throws went 20 in the air?). He was smart with the ball. And of course most of his picks were batted at the line. #shortqbproblems

This is a common myth that isn't supported by the data, short QBs do not get their passes batted more often. Whether they have trouble seeing the field over their taller counterparts is another discussion.
