Floyd Arrested

Res Life doesn't make announcements on student hearings. Those matters are considered confidential. In the past the coach, Weis, Brey, etc would simply mention at a press conference that, "Larry Lep is no longer with the team. We expect to see him rejoin the team next semester. Next question."
Sometimes the student provided information but most seem to say, "I left for personal reasons."

As long as he attends classes, I'll take it that he will be playing.

For real? Gotcha... so we could be waiting a long to for someone to hint at it.

But, even if he attends class, can't he still be 'banned' from football?

Thank you for telling me this. Now I won't be holding my breath.

I see a 3 game suspension for Mike. That plus missing spring and fall ball is sufficient for this kind of offense. Hell, driving smashed was a way of life in this country not too long ago. Not that I do it or condone it but he shouldn't be kicked off the team for it.

Can any current student confirm that Floyd is indeed showing up to classes right now?

Res Life suspensions are generally not from class but from all extracurricular activities be it football, cheerleading, or the glee club. They don't ban a specific sport or activity. I believe the intent is to get you to focus on your issue and your classwork while taking away distractions. ResLife can also issue community service, counseling and in drastic situations separation from UND - expulsion.

Some ResLife decisions are enacted the same semester (Powers-Neal), some the following semester (Cerasani, Yeatman). I don't know how they make that distinction, perhaps how late it is in the semester when they hear a case. (That's a guess on my part.)

Kelly took the unusual action at ND of suspending Floyd indefinitely from the team. I think that was a preemptive strike by Kelly so that ResLife could consider "time served" for his Spring suspension and any counseling Floyd put himself into voluntarily. Keep in mind they don't have to consider Kelly's and Floyd's actions. IF Res Life were to suspend him for the Spring Semester, I'm guessing that would include Preseason Camp which takes place before the Fall Semester starts. As I mentioned in a previous post if he missed Preseason Camp he would have still have to go through NCAA preseason conditioning prior to becoming eligibile to play. That could keep him out of the first couple of games in the season.

Depending upon ResLife's decision, Kelly could comment in his Spring Ball wrapup that Floyd will be able to participate in Preseason camp OR in August he might comment or just issue an updated Roster with OR without Floyd on it. Keep in mind Floyd could also do what Yeatman and Fauria did and leave. The NFL draft is a question mark. If ResLife issued a Fall suspension, Floyd might chose to stay OR might transfer rather than sit out the season.

That's why I say as long as he's in class there's hope. He should know soon. We may not since this a personal matter.

In the past the commentary has been low key in these situations. The coaches don't comment on ResLife decisions and ResLife doesn't issue press releases.

I suspect when it gets known it will be leaked by a teammate, roommate, etc. Hopefully and estatic one.

So Mike reactivated his twitter apparently? This has to be good news right? *Crossing fingers*

Of course the trolls are asking him if he talked to BK and if he can play. Like he is going to answer you on twitter people.

No, not necessarily. Could've gotten the boot today and is going pro. There are plenty of reasons why he could/would have reactivated it.

@floyd3 ATTENTION... this is the real mike floyd. Ask any of my teammates!

Could it be a good thing that he says teammates?

I'm going to guess that Louis Nix reactivated that account. I'm pretty sure he is the one who set it up initially and the first tweet from Floyd today said to follow Nix.

Friends on Twitter usually give other people shout outs, so they can give there friends more followers.

Considering Michael has way more followers. He could just be helping Nix out.

I don't think Nix would get on Micheal's account while all of this going on. and the fact that he puts a exclamation point after teammates, could be a way of dropping a hint that he has teammates.

Obviously I don't know, but I think it is actually him.

at this point I'm less concerned about his future with ND football as I am simply with his future and yes, the way he represents ND away from football...

idk how far this team can go with or without him this year to begin with, how he responds to this as a man is much more important imo...

Am I the only person that's sick of this nonsense and just wants Floyd to play?

Yeah I understand that, but if you pay any attention at all to Nix on twitter, I'd say its a pretty good possibility he is the one who was on Floyd's today. The kid is a goofball.

Couldn't agree more. Let's hope whatever happens re: the team, playing status, ResLife, etc. that Michael Floyd comes out the better because of all of this. Prayers and thoughts to him no matter what ResLife decides and whether he plays for the Irish again (although I certainly hopes he does).

@eTruth_Irish: I saw #NotreDame receiver Michael Floyd walk into Loftus for pro day, so that's one football-related activity he's not suspended from.

The more I think about it, the more I think losing Micheal won't be the end of the world.

And it would be awesome on NDs part to lay down the law and show they have higher standards than the rest of the college teams.

If higher standards means not employing bagmen, fine. If it means callously hammering a kid over a mistake, count me out. I think when it comes to recruiting kids, ethics are pretty clear. But once a kid is in your family, you protect the kid. My loyalty in this situation would be Michael, not some abstract idea of "higher standards." You want kids to want to play in your program, you stand by the kid when they are going through a difficult time.

My punishment for Floyd: time served (no spring ball), 50 hours community service to be completed before he puts pads on again, mandatory AA/counselling, and a zero tolerance approach going forward.

As they say, "haters gonna hate." Fans of other teams will ridicule the decision either way. LET FLOYD PLAY!!!!!!

Michael Floyd walks out of #NotreDame pro day with Dayne Crist & Manti Te'o. Sure doesn't look like a guy whose career is over, anyway.

Floyd's 2nd hearing is set for today where he should learn his punishment according to II sources. This may be the quickest decision in ResLife history which could be a sign of the new age of ResLife with the newer panel that works better with the students and teams.

something i got from a facebook post
