Simmons can be childish and his own personal content has certainly taken a decline in the past few years. That being said, Grantland is ESPN's best site, he has a great eye for talent, and he's a really good idea man (30 for 30, etc.).

I bet Simmons is looking around and may not return to ESPN once is contact is up.

Simmons is such a douche... I don't think I've heard one human being ever speak well of that guy. I don't know where the fan base of his is, but I don't think its in the Midwest. And honestly, the 30 for 30's are hit and miss IMO.

He has my respect for his basketball knowledge and everything else he brings is just gravy. If he were to leave, he'd get a loyal follower from me. I don't think he would want to go without Zach Lowe though.

I own the first 30 box set... Some of them were pretty sub par imo and uninteresting... others are so one sided it's pretty laughable, "No Crossover" would be an example of this...

with that said, well over half of them are at least 'good' and a handful or so are truly great, "Two Ecobars" was one of the best docs I've ever seen.

I haven't seen a lot of the early ones but I think my favorite so far has been Requiem for the Big East. It really makes you hate college football.

Hmmm... haven't seen that one yet... my fav of the new ones was definitely the one on Bo Jackson. admittedly I'm biased though, he's one of my childhood heros, and I've only grown to like him more in adulthood.

College Football Daily is almost unwatchable. The ESPN SEC love is so over the top. They just did a blind résumé pick for a playoff spot with 3 teams. Everyone agrees- it has to be the 7-2 team with a FPI of 3 (Ole Miss).

What more proof could you possibly need that ESPN is biased toward the sec besides the ESPN FPI. They reference it all the time. SEC has the top 3 and 6 of the top 11. Arkansas is #19!...4-5 Arkansas is 3 spots behind #16 ND.

Clearly the algorithm is broken but they continue to reference it like its the holy grail of metrics.

Don't really know how ESPN does their FPI. And don't really care one way or the other. But I would take Ole Miss over anybody ranked from #12 on down. I would also take them against three teams from #11 on up. Fourth position in the playoff? No.

As far as Arkansas, they are a pretty decent team that just hasn't found a way to win the big games. Been close, but at some point they will break through. If Stanford is at #20 then I have no problem with Arkansas right there with them.

In fact that goes for the entire state of Mississippi (At least it's closer to the truth than the current BS assumption about either team)
