I think James Franklin is the biggest winner of this coaching cycle, regardless of whether he even takes a new job or not.

He's going to be able to play USC, FSU and Penn State against each other. He's either getting a huge offer at a new school, or getting a massive raise from PSU.

He's gonna get better-than-Harbaugh money.

Yup. He picked the right time to have his best season (through 8 games at least).

I should throw my name out there too. I've accomplished about as much as Lane as a HC so why not.

A Tallahassee TV/Radio station is saying FSU is "very close" to a deal with Bob Stoops. No idea if its well sourced or not.

Chad Morris has been fired by Arkansas.

I’d love to see them go after Mike Leach just for the entertainment value.

Football is better because of Mike Leach. I’d love to see him in the SEC.

The comedic value of Mike Leach beating Tennessee in 2020 would be so delightful.

But really, what coach in their right mind is going to that program? They just fired their coach before the hire's two year birthday. Sure, they were terrible. But look at the 2020 and 2021 schedules.

2020 - At Notre Dame, Texas A&M in Arlington, Bama, LSU, At Auburn, with UT and Missouri as cross over games. 4 wins is a good year next year.

2021 - Swaps ND for Texas, swaps Tennessee for UGA. Still has all the SEC West foes. Again, 4 wins is good, 6 would be amazing.

If the coach isn't fired by end of 2021, 2022 would need to save the job and the schedule does lighten a bit, but not enough to see anything more than 6 wins.

Coach who takes this is a dead man walking.

IMO (which means nothing) I’d have the following on my list of candidates if I’m the Arkansas AD:

In no particular order -

Dave Clawson
Eli Drinkwitz
Bill Clark
Mike Norvell
Willie Fritz

Norvell as Arkansas ties as he played WR for Central Arkansas. Drinkwitz was an assistant coach for Springdale HS as well as for Arkansas State so he has ties as well.

Norvell would be a great hire

Sent from my SM-J337U using Tapatalk

And he just might be homer enough to take it. I’m sure they’ll pay well, but Arkansas is a really tough job. On paper that program has no business finishing better than 5th in the SEC West. Not sure why any coach with ambition would take it if they weren’t from there.

Whatever happened to Bo Pelini? He wasn’t that bad. How come nobody looks at him?

Arkansas should have never fired Bielema.

Pelini is still coaching at Youngstown.

I assume he doesn't get many looks b/c he's a throwback - a defensive guy living in an offensive world. He's brash too. Remember that leaked recording of him telling his players Nebraska's AD is a total pussy after he was terminated?

Pelini was 67-27 at Nebraska.
Since he was fired, Nebraska is 27-32

Maybe he had a point. Nevertheless, not something a hiring AD would want to deal with, unless he was a proven title winner.

These are all crap jobs. Even Arkansas and Rutgers.

Is there any smoke out of USC at this point? If they keep Helton there's basically going to be one major opening this year - FSU - with relatively few dominoes to fall in its wake, and a pretty quiet year on the coaching front.

Going to be interested in the UNLV job and what happens. They have a brand new stadium and new football facilities that just opened this year.
