With CK off the board that was the best possible hire for them. Better than Frost.

Great hire for them. Ran Urban's offense at Florida, coached in the SEC a long time now, knows how to recruit Florida and most importantly knows how to develop QB's.

Watching the meltdown on Tennessee twitter is just the thing I need to feel better again.

Hey STL... given the reactions and doing more reading, I can honestly say I had no idea that the hatred towards him was quite this high and the PSU stuff quite this bad... he obviously shouldn't be a HC, anywhere.

I still can't tell if the PSU stuff is real or if what he knew is being massively exaggerated by Tennessee fans to try to force the admin to do better.

Even beyond that Schiano as a HC was only 68-67 at Rutgers with one great year and 11-21 with the Bucs. He strikes me as a solid DC but not a HC. Can't believe Tennessee thought that was the best they could do.

Who are they going to get who's better? Maybe Kevin Sumlin or Todd Graham, I guess, but they'll be viewed as retreads. Les Miles?

I am not a as Schiano fan but his record at Rutgers is much more impressive than you are giving him credit for. Go look at the records of the coaches before him. The fact that he made Rurgers competitive is impressive. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rutgers_Scarlet_Knights_football_seasons

I agree that Tennessee can do better but Schiano is a better coach than the record shows. Winning consistently at Rurgers is damn difficult.

I had no idea Shiano was associated, to any extent, with the filth at PSU.

He can coach defense. But if he knew what was going on at PSU and didn't speak up, I'd hire BVG before I let him near my sideline.

He may very well be the best they can do. Too many other big programs grabbing good coaches right now and Tenn is a dumpster fire to take over.

Until Florida returns to being Florida or someone else steps up, Tennessee is still a very attractive job. You’re fighting with Georgia for a trip to the SEC championship game.

If they were smart at this point they should just go get David Cutcliffe and get Tee Martin as OC and see if he can eventually take over for Cutcliffe when he retires. Right now that program just needs some stability.

I'd go after Brohm. He's regional and he's got a 100% success rate.

Plus, you'll probably agree... guys from Lewelvulle are football geniuses.

I have known Brohm family members going back to grade school. Watched Jeff's father Oscar play QB at my dad's HS Flaget (where Hornung and Schnellenberger went) when I was a little kid. I'm not fully convinced Jeff would leave Purdue after just one year unless it was for Louisville. He's a high character guy.

The PAC is about to be the most stacked bunch of coaches in the country.

Aggies swapping Sumlin for Chad Morris would be a total fail, IMO. I just cant imagine Jimbo taking the jump. They will offer the golden palace though, I'm sure.

Watching some of the miserable FSU - FU game really made me unimpressed with Jimbos team. I think he's overrated.

What about Matt Campbell??? I figured he would draw some bucks after making ISU respectable.

Campbell right now has an enormous buyout. Schools would be reluctant to pay it for such a young coach.

Usually they are, but that program is in complete disarray and a few big money boosters are meddling and causing major problems. It's unstable and chaotic and not an easy job right now. A viper pit inside a dumpster fire on a sinking ship... with an angry unrealistic fanbase.

I mean I know about the claim but like it’s a pretty vague piece of 10 year old hearsay that nobody really took seriously until today (nobody seems to have thought of this at OSU). Let’s just say I have my doubts about the genuineness of the reaction of Vols nation today.

You're not alone.

If Charles Manson had a .750 winning percentage Vol fans would be demanding his body's release to Knoxville.

Recruiting is difficult at Tennessee as the in state talent isn't all that great and then you are fighting with Georgia, Florida, Clemson, FSU, Alabama, etc. for recruits. I also think Tennessee's administration is incompetent. I wouldn't go to Tennessee right now.

I also would be very surprised if Brohm left after just one year. IMO, the money would have to be huge to get him to do it. There's probably some hefty buyout in his contract as well.
