This feels SO MUCH like the Saban to Bama stuff...
Gruden will not be coaching at any college.

^this^Never say never I guess (referring to this UT thing specifically) but I've always felt he would take the ND job if it feel open at the right time. I have long felt that'd be the only cfb job he'd take at this point, but stranger things have happened.

In some ways it does, but UT is NOT UA and few realized just how miserable Saban was in the NFL (and just as importantly, how unhappy his wife was in Miami), plus Bama was willing to sign a blank check for Saban. UT fans really cannot grasp that they aren't one of the top 3 jobs in the country. You have no idea just how convinced they are that UT is an elite program that EVERYBODY wants to come to.
Alot of this was said about Bama with the Saban thing at the time too tho... key factor was Saban being miserable...
That's true. Hard to remember just what a dumpster fire Bama was by 2006, how toxic the atmosphere was, and how little any good coach wanted to walk into that situation. OTOH, there's a difference in a dumpster fire/bad situation at a Bama, ND, USC, OSU or Texas, and in one at a UT, Auburn, UCLA, OKST, or Michigan State. Those first five are always going to rise back to the top sooner or later as soon as they get the right guy (and there will always be the money & willingness to eventually find the right guy). The others have a ceiling.

I hope tennessee pays Gruden 10+ million a year, for 7 or 8 years, then he sucks. I'd love to see who they want in 2 or 3 years into the regime, when they realize they literally broke the bank for a coach that will be 55 by next season, hasn't coached a football game in 10 years, has been away from the college game since 1991, barely ever coached in college in any fashion, has one of the cushiest jobs on the planet, probably already makes 10+ million in salary and endorsements, and doesn't have to recruit and babysit 17 and 18 year olds all year long.
The Malzahn to arkansas rumors had a little bite. There were serious rumblings that if auburn lost to georgia and alabama, auburn would move on. The university of arkansas job was a natural fit. He didn't just happen to coach at arkansas. He grew up there, went to college in arkansas, spent 15 years as a HS coach there, worked at the university, and turned down much better head jobs to take the head gig at lowly Arkansas State already. Him becoming the next coach of the razorbacks wasn't far fetched. But...he beat georgia and if he upsets alabama, will be given a raise and extension at auburn.

Auburn would be totally nuts to get rid of him. He's probably top 3 coaches in the conference and done fine at Auburn.
Your case is sound. I'd love to see him flip the bird at Auburn.
A coach told me Saturday before the Auburn/Ga game that he thinks Gus does go back home to Arky when the job comes up, no matter the outcome of this season. I don't know how he would know this but I do know he speaks with Gus on a regular basis. I guess we will see.
Hog fans would be ecstatic. While Gus is easily a better HC than Houston Nutt, he would bring similar drama/politics with him to Fayette Nam. Not so much brought on by Gus but the Gus Factions vs the Anti-Gus factions on the BoT
Who in Arkansas doesn't like Gus?

Jimbo has been on the swag copter and has an agent in College Station. I swear. - TexAgs
IDK. "Facilities" is a pretty weak argument for why Jimbo Fisher would ever leave FSU for Texas A&M.
Why would you leave FSU for aTm? Currently Jimbo only really has to worry about Clemson in his division and if they beat them they are going to the ACC title game and the other division is pretty weak. 12-1 is going to get you into the playoffs.
If he goes to College Station he has to play Alabama, Auburn, and LSU every single year. Why put yourself in a division with Saban?
Agree. Jimbo would only go for the $$$$$
So with Long gone at Arky, does Bret survive? I say no. And I think Arky makes a push for Gus. And what if A&M moves on Sumlin? Word is Jimbo is their guy if so. Then potentially having the Auburn job open. Geez.
Also saw where OBC said that Chip is not the coach Florida is pursuing. He said the coach is currently active and coaching at another school. Guess that would be Mullen. Don't know if OBC has inside info at Fla anymore, but it is interesting comments to say the least.
