If I averaged being under 100 i'd be fired up!

Then again im pretty militant about not using foot wedges or anything. Makes the occasional par and EXTREMELY infrequent birdie feel great

Pate acting like he’s revealing groundbreaking info. This is EXACTLY the same guy who was at ND. The one who barely knew his players, didn’t develop relationships with coaches, and couldn’t be bothered to recruit. Shame on LSU for not doing their due diligence on him. Their mistake was the best thing that could’ve happened to us! Pay up, LSU!

From a media standpoint, how did none of this come out before he was fired? I get that networks like Fox and ESPN have to tread lightly - they can’t torch a coach and risk losing access - but what about independent guys like Pate or other podcasters? They have more freeom to report and this is the type of shit that gets views.

To be clear, I get why guys tied to certain programs keep quiet about recruiting or internal drama that could expose a source. That makes sense. But what’s coming out now about Kelly - things like him being on vacation instead of recruiting, showing no interest in hiring or interviewing staff, etc. - is a different story. None of that points to one specific source. Everyone in the building knew it was happening. Let Kelly, or any coach in that position, speculate about who might’ve said it.

Brother has the most vanilla takes imaginable and says it with the conviction possible. Him and Shit Pants (Vince) could do a marathon podcast arguing that the top two conferences are the SEC and B10.

How many coaches do you think we would have had over the last 13 years if BK took the Eagles job after 2012?

I’m seriously guessing 3+.

We were still in the mindset of people like Randy Edsall (insert other old heads that had an impressive 8-4 season with a shit team) being a “name to watch” during job searches.

If I am forced to say something nice about BK,
it’s that he didn’t leave until much later.

I am curious about the "real world" implications of this "duty to mitigate" clause that is in coaches contracts that requires them to seek another coaching job or a job in media.

If BK (through his agent) simply lets it be known that he really doesn't have any interest in coaching again, but would agree to do an interview if a school would like to talk. I'm assuming that would still allow BK to get his money.

If a school actually does ask for an interview and BK is just brutally honest and says "Listen, my heart really isn't in coaching anymore. If you hire me, I will likely put in the most minimal effort possible relying on my assistants to do all the work. If you are OK with that, then I guess you can hire me if you want".

I would think that it would be pretty hard for LSU to get out of the buyout even if BK has a "duty to mitigate".
I imagine BK would interview with 3 schools every December, say there wasn't proper alignment, and continue cashing LSU checks.

Says 1 major donor is going to pay majority of the buyout. Dude really wanted him gone if true
You could buy the best roster in the country with the money that dude is about to spend to be rid of Brian Kelly lmao

For reading pleasure, someone on Irish Illustrated found this Josh Pate post on LSU's 247 board from when BK was first hired:

"We discussed this name on this very board several weeks back and I told you he'd be my ideal candidate but I never believed it was possible. Apparently it was possible. If Woodward closes this it's beyond a grand slam. I have listened to the doubters and have yet to hear a logical reason why LSU folks shouldn't be over-the-moon excited about this. Brian Kelly has essentially been trying to compete in the Daytona 500 with a Prius given the limitations at ND relative to CFB's tier one.

To even HAVE them consistently in the CFB Playoff convo has been incredible. If you want to know how incredible it was...keep an eye on the program once he leaves."

I hope he kept his eye on us.

Appropriating Declan’s death for your own Twitter clout is BS tbh. Why is he complaining about both BK not talking to him and being forced to retire? Are you asking for sympathy for real medical difficulties or saying you should still be playing football? Because if you think another opinion would mean not retiring, you can transfer anywhere else and play. Inconsistent and nothing like a tragic death.
