Well this thread sure took a turn. I guess if everyone isn't bitching about BK that's a good sign.

You know, Joe Moorhead may be on the hot seat. I wouldn't mind taking a stab at him as OC if those cowbell clangers fire him

I don’t think Navy wins. But if they were it wouldn’t be in a blow out. It would be a close game.

I wish I had your semi-confidence.

I'm petrified. We haven't been spectacular at stopping the run this year, at least consistently. And I really don't know how much I trust our offense to get out to a quick start, especially since we've struggled running the ball so much.

I feel like Kmet should have 16 catches for 249 yards on against a secondary like Navy's but that won't happen because Chip Long.

Navy is ranked, so a win would seemingly lift them closer to a NY6 appearance, but what about a loss? Would that take them lower than the Camping World Bowl?

If they finish 9-3 I think Orlando is still highly likely. 9-3 ND vs. 9-3 or 8-4 Texas would still draw huge ratings.

The way I'm understanding it, ND is going to the Camping World unless a handful of teams ranked ahead of ND birdbox and start driving into pylons and running through 10th story windows. If there is utter chaos then ND would have a shot at the Cotton Bowl.

I'm pretty sure if ND takes care of business there are enough teams ahead of us that have to play each other where ND can easily sneak back into the top-10 or, at least, -12 which would put them in a prime position for the Cotton Bowl at-large bid.

With the bowl tie-ins, it's really about who makes the playoffs and how many SEC teams are in front of ND. ND needs to be minimum #10 in the country to even have a shot at a NY6 game because of what is going on in the ACC and Group of 5... and those two will steal spots despite low rankings.

If they're at 10 and Florida, Georgia, Bama are all still in front of them AND none of them make the playoffs then ND doesn't get a NY6 bowl game. It's basically that simple, because there are only two spots that ND is eligible for. ND either needs chaos in the SEC or chaos elsewhere to get two SEC teams in the playoffs, and if that happens they have a decent shot at the Cotton Bowl. And that's not even considering how Ohio State losing (or other Big Ten scenarios) could make it an impossibility for ND to be in a NY6 game.

I think we'll be okay. We won't be playing the same D we did against USC and will be able to put more in the box. The best scenario is for us to score first.

It's going to be difficult for us then. Florida will be heavily favored in their 2 remaining games. Georgia and Bama can each lose another and still be ranked ahead of us. Honestly, it's a long shot. We have to root against Georgia because that is the most likely to drop 2 more - TAMU, Auburn, and SEC championship.

No offense but does anyone think ND would be favored in a top ten bowl game this year? I understand the desire to push your team but lets be realistic here. ND has not been performing on a level that would be competitive with a top 10 team and that was before half the starting Oline went down.

Do you want to see another 30 pt loss?

ND can surely compete with Florida. Already showed they can against Georgia. The Michigan game is hard to explain but play that game 100 times and you wouldn't see a worse outcome. This team is top 10-15 quality still.

Cmon now. I don't think we are playoff worthy but I think we are fringe top 10.

Here are the rankings 5-15:

Alabama, Oregon, Utah, Minnesota, Penn State, Oklahoma, Florida, Auburn, Baylor, Wisconsin, Michigan.

I believe the scUM game was a fluke and outlier, and I believe the UGA performance is much closer to what we are capable of against these teams. Of those listed, who do you really belive would run us off the field? Each of these teams have glaring weaknesses just like we do. Oklahoma has looked very, very human the past few weeks, I think Minnesota proved that PSU is highly overrated, a popular opinion on this forum all season, more so than Minnesota proved it belongs in the CFP top 4, and I believe that was reflected by their #8 ranking

I think there are a lot of really good teams in the top 15 that have glaring weaknesses like ND. There are only a handful of teams who I believe would truly boatrace us, and I don't think we'll have to worry about them in a potential match up.

Personal opinion, I'd like to avoid anyone in the top 5, and Oregon. Anyone else, let's see what ND's got. Obviously this is taking into consideration that a rematch with Michigan wouldn't happen.

I think they can beat any of those teams aside from Bama and Oklahoma, and there's still a chance there too. Those offenses are both way more than we could keep pace with imo.

If I’m a football player, better competition is going to teach me a greater lesson than playing down just to be safe. But I’m not a football player, so it doesn’t really matter what I think. Honestly, I just want to see players competiting and playing smart football.
