Another discovery that makes the fantasy theory more plausible is that the photo Walt looked at in the Schwartz's home was of him and Gretchen. Why would a photo like that be in their house?

Whoa. Seriously.

Man, that was some crazy stuff. From "Dead Freight" onward that was just a total roller coaster in the last season.

The dream theory is interesting. Very interesting. But it has a ton of holes in it, too.

Here are some final thoughts I had:
-What was up with Gustavo's Chile connections and such? Did they laid a lot of groundwork and put forth a lot of hints for him to be connected to something very big... did they just abandon that story line in favor of a more succinct one set to end in a 5th season? Or are all of those previous connections gone? It seemed to be implied he was either connected to the government of Chile or a cartel of some sort. Also, Gus claimed to have children/family yet we never ever see any of them. It just seems very, very interesting that after killing Gus more guys loyal to Gus didn't come after Walt.

-It really bothers me how much of a dumbass Walt was. He was incapable of taking anyone's advice. He was also strikingly inconsistent. I thought Mike put it best right before he got killed about his ego and pride. A running theme throughout the show has been Walt's insatiable need for "respect" and to feed his ego. Ultimately, it's what ruined him and made him into a total douche.

-The character I most sympathized with was Mike. Second was Jesse. Hard to see both of them get f*cked over by Walt. I did not like Skylar at all... thought she was the ultimate hypocrite.

-Did Gustavo order the kid dead? Did he cut Victor's throat because he was a loose end and was seen at the crime scene or for another reason? Did he opt for Jesse over Walt because he realized Walt's ego was too big and that he didn't know his place?

-Why did Walt call the cops and say he was in New Hampshire?

All in all... fantastic show, fantastic last season, and really solid ending.

Walt called the DEA in New Hampshire to turn himself in. Junior told him they didn't want the money or anything to do with him. Walt was giving in until he saw Gretchen and Elliot. I don't feel sympathy at all for Jesse or Mike they were lifers, they made enough bad decisions on their own to get what they had coming. To me Walt being a dumbass is the jest of the whole show, he was a simple man too blind to the "thug lifestyle" and still climbed to the top. Though his ego and blindness to what he was doing caused his own demise. Gustavo cut Victors throat because Vic was seen at Gail's apartment. I think he knew Walt was a loose cannon and had no choice but to have Jesse cook. I just feel that Walt was always talked down by everyone in his life and felt he wasn't respected by Elliot and Grethen, Skyler, Hank, Jack, Gus or Mike. Walt to me only wanted to be respected and wanted acknowledged for what he did. That is why his conversation with Skyler was needed he took responsibility and said he did it for himself and was good at it.

Okay, so I don't watch any shows at all on TV really... I have only kept up here through Netflix and I use 'kept up' losely...

So I finally finish season four last night... just freaking wow... one of the best endings to a show/season I can remember... this show is really good.

Welcome to the party. Kind of wish I were in your shoes and still had new episodes to watch.

I just finished watching a couple weeks ago, started several months ago. Bought the last season on Vudu instead of waiting on Netflix or DVD. Definitely one of the best shows I've ever watched. I knew I was going to enjoy it when I saw then using hydrofluoric acid to dissolve bodies. I have to deal with that stuff at work. Scary shits.

lol... it would have been better had you not explained why... ;)

anyway, I am almost thinking a perfect end to the whole series would have been the end to season four... but I'm going to assume the actually end works better... we will see.

Things I want to see in this show:

1. A joke referencing Huell being left in a hotel room for an extended period of time.

2. The series to end with Walter White getting in touch, the same way that Saul was introduced to Breaking Bad.

I like this. Really curious how they handle the after.

Is Walter White really dead?!?

J/k but that would be pretty neat.

...although, Cranston was quoted on saying something along the lines of "Who said Walter White is dead?"

I absolutely love shows that depict the same scene from different perspectives. I think it's called a synchronized arc or a simultaneous arc.

Just watched the entire series as AMC reran it, in order, the past month or two.

Loved it! Loved the finale!

Will have to go back now and read through this thread now that I am able.

I think I may be in agreement with Buster as the top 2 shows go of all time. The Wire and BB (and other shows) are so different though, it's hard to compare and contrast and make lists.

Whereas I know what I loved about the Wire (the authenticity, the wholeness of different institutions' role, the backdrop of overall urban decay, etc.), I'm still not exactly sure what I loved about BB-- but I know I loved the sh!t out of it.

I think the finale was, ultimately, what sealed the deal for me though. Walt went out on his own terms-- what he stated he wanted from the beginning in episode 1 when he received his diagnosis. And he saved Jesse-- his biggest success and failure as a teacher.

But I can't quite put my finger on the other aspects of the show I loved. Maybe one was that the entire series, for the most part, was in real time? The incredible likability of Walt and Jesse...and the empathy I could feel towards and for them?

The word my brother and I use to describe Breaking Bad is gangster. Vince Gilligan really eases you into this downward spiral of morality and in doing so just keeps upping the bar. Just when you think it can't get more gangster, boom, bar raised. The final scenes of each respective season finale come immediately to mind. Walt blowing up Tuco's drug den. Jessie shooting Gale in the face. Walt letting Jane die (darkest moment in my opinion). DING! DING DING! DING! DING! And of course..

So gangster.

I had a birthday last weekend and more than anything I wanted to make the number 31 out of my bacon...

I forgot and ate the whole plate w/o doing so. Very unfortunate.

Why I liked BB:

-The writing. VG did a phenomenal job developing the plot and allowing it to grow each season. It never got too bizarre and always had a perfect balance of drug game chaos blended with a normal man dealing with difficult circumstances in his life. Wow, what an idea.

-The character development was insanely good. The relationships between Walt/Jesse, Walt/Hank, etc are unmatched in television, imo.

-The acting. Bryan Cranston really outdid himself. I don't think he got near enough credit for how good of an actor he was before this show. He's simply amazing. Aaron Paul grew a lot during this series. I hated his character in season one. But he owned it and as the story played out, he became a fan favorite for a reason. He killed it as Jesse Pinkman.

Breaking Bad really set the bar for me. Besides House of Cards, I'm not sure there will be another show that will keep me engaged the way BB did. Bravo, Vince Gilligan.
