What was the answer?

Basically it was the watch Jesse gave him on his 51st birthday and when the shot the scene in the cafe for Walt's 52nd birthday he wasn't wearing the watch. So they needed to go back and account for that so they had Walt take the watch off and leave it where he did as a sign that Walt knew things were coming to an end.

If you could take one souvenir from the set of Breaking Bad, what would it be? I'm thinking the green jacket he died in because both him and Jesse wore it.

im gonna go with a barrel of money.

roof pizza is a distant second.

pure brillance though, Vince G just dropped the mic.

viva la heisenberg.

my initial theory when he put the watch down was a dead man doesn't need a watch.

obviously VG explained it as stated but nevertheless that was my own take on it.

love the details that go into this show.

I still need to process this episode a little, but my initial impression was that it was brilliant and lived up to the reputation of the show.

My money's on himself or Jack. But I could see it used on Jesse, Todd or Lydia too (if Walt finds out Lydia's trying to hit Skylar).

A good scene would be another coffee shop with Lydia ordering a chamomile tea with honey (or whatever it is), and him getting it in there somehow. Maybe in a splenda packet or something.

You are good

I was hoping that before he died he would have cooked one more batch and it would have been 100% pure.

It was perhaps the most obvious aspect of the show's entire run. I was honestly a little disappointed.

For the finale overall, I thought it lacked the epicness (not a word..) I was hoping for, but was very very solid.

If I could have a souvenir it would be the book signed to Walt by Gale left in his bathroom. That lead to his undoing, and ultimately his death.

Agreed. I think that this finale wasn't as action packed as i was expecting. The subtle slow pace had lots of underlying meaning that i will appreciate on my second or third watch through.

Yeah I think a lot of elements of this finale will ultimately be legendary. If they tried too hard for epicness they could have botched it. I'm good with how it ended.

Exactly. Trying for epicness would have been a huge mistake. Prescription for disaster.

Of all the tension, build up, anticipation, etc. that was involved in the show... nothing made me more nervous than when it showed Jesse flying out of that place in the car.

I was paranoid he was going to bite the dust in a horrific accident as a final twist in his unfortunate life.

That's not fully why he got into it though. His wife didn't work initially and she would've had to have raised two kids. The ~$700,000 estimate he was working towards wasn't for cancer treatments.

Funny and topical Buster, that's it.

I thought it ended just fine. No black screen. No opening the doors and heading off to the great beyond. Loose strings tied up.
Everyone got what they deserved, hopefully Skylar tells Flynn the truth about Walter.

My mind is still a little hazy in regards to Walts old business partners. Was it ever explained fully how and why he left the company and what happened between them? Because he states, as he is making them promise to give the money to his family, that this should make up for it.

They never really explained it: Gray Matter Technologies - Breaking Bad Wiki. He had a relationship with Gretchen, but then just abandoned her during a vacation. I find it hard to believe that writers as meticulous as the Breaking Bad writers would just forget this. Perhaps it doesn't matter - the point is that he turned his back on the potential for enormous wealth once, and wasn't going to make the same mistake again. He was a brilliant but simple man, maybe he didn't want his love of science to be turned into a pursuit of money. However, seeing how much Gray Matter was worth (billions) and reminding himself that he sold his share for only $5000 was one of the factors forcing him to keep making meth.

And as far as making up for it, he may be talking about his rightful share of how much Gray Matter is worth. He sold it for a ridiculously low price to Elliot, denying his children their "birthright" - so this money will make up for it.

Yah but Walt sold it. Elliot didn't force him to sell it, or maybe he did.. We'll never know I guess. Perhaps he was talking to himself in regards to making that mistake and making up for it. But I believe he was talking to them and referring to them in making it up.

That confused me a little bit too. It was brought in like a huge point to keep in the back of your head, then it never materialized unless they "owed" walt and he used that as a guilt thing to give money to Walt Jr, but then the "assassins" threat wouldnt have been needed.

Why did Walt Jr only eat breakfast in the show is my question

I don't think his "make up for it" threat/comment was about them not giving him his money's worth, nor do I think it was about his own mistakes...

I think his "make up for it" comment was about them making up for selling him short on national television when they said the only thing he contributed was the name of the company. It was clear throughout the show that he contributed majorly to Gray Matter. They just didn't give him the credit he deserved.

(Which is understandable; why would you credit a meth kingpin on national television when it comes to your very successful company and your charitable donations?)

Another discovery that makes the fantasy theory more plausible is that the photo Walt looked at in the Schwartz's home was of him and Gretchen. Why would a photo like that be in their house?
