Why not something overseas? Egypt or Mexico or something..
Follow the food! Maybe French, Thai or Scandahoovian.

Is that the home of the famous Whos of Whoville?
Looking at Notre Dame Fighting Irish's bowl option - ESPN
Poinsettia Bowl is easily the most appealing of these, especially if the opponent is Fresno State or Boise. We'd probably lose to Fresno State because of their high-power passing game but I'd love to beat down Boise State.
I'm just guessing/trying to read between the lines, but it's starting to sound a lot like the Hawaii Bowl right now. Warm weather, game played on Christmas Eve.

The only issue with that bowl is the relationship it has to the MAC:
“We would not renege on our agreement with the Mid-American Conference,” Poinsettia Bowl executive director Bruce Binkowski said Sunday night. “We have a long-standing relationship with them, either as a backup or a primary team through 2019. And I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize that.”
He also said he hasn’t been in discussions with anyone but the MAC to this point, but knows there can be backdoor deals struck between teams, leagues and bowls.
“The only way those work is if everybody could be made happy and whole,” he said.
IrishBlood81;1176161... Whoa! Scandahoovian… absolutely! *Calls Kelly* He said he's totally on board. Only problem is they'll be playing in a dirt field (farm) with trees for goal posts...[/QUOTE said:Yasgur's Farm. Gotta get back to the garden. Natural turf, mud, Jimi Hendrix, root vegetables, Vodka, Aqua Vit, and pickled herring.
Such a deal!!!
Looks like it is almost a certainty ND is playing Boise State in a bowl game (either Poinsetta or in San Diego) w/ the Pinstripe bowl probably being the only other possibility. Seems now we are looking at a interim coached Boise team as an opponent. I really like that matchup for us - a marquee name, a weak team. A nice win could be very good for the offseason.

I was really hoping for the Motor City bowl. Just being greedy. Also wouldn't like the matchup

Isn't the Poinsettia in San Diego?
^This. Although do we know that Petersen won't be coaching?; the wild card would be getting on the wrong side of an emotional sendoff.
It seems Petersen would coach BSU in a bowl game, unless BSU waives its contract rights.
Report: Boise State's Petersen to be named Washington head coach - Idaho Press-Tribune: Sports
This story states:
"A clause in Petersen's contract with Boise State requires him to coach the Broncos in the upcoming bowl game."
Would the players really get amped to play in that bowl for a coach who just bounced on them? Honest question.
