That's kinda what I was saying so let's just win our bowl and fuck the haters. With all the shit that happened this year any bowl might as well be a BCS game to me anyway.

I think a bowl win is very important this year because there's a world of difference, in perception, between 9-4 and 8-5.

My concern is that, because we lack a conference tie in, we often get either overmatched (some past BCS appearances) or undermatched (playing Hawaii a few years ago). There are exceptions -- Miami, FSU....But to me, a danger this year -- a year where we had high hopes and expectations coming in -- is that we get a lousy team match up and have the classic "what are we doing here, this opponent is beneath us" bowl letdown performance. Besides, this team has a "play up or down to the level of our competition" complex, so I really don't want a crappy opponent.

This is all a long way of saying, I favor any bowl that allows Kelly to reward the kids, but still gives him an angle to get a "chip on their shoulder" edge, something to fire them up and take the game seriously as a dogfight.

A Bowling Green type worries me as too inferior an opponent. But a Boise State-type might work better; not because I think BSU, e.g., is good, because the perception is that they are good (because they've been good lately). Thus it's an opportunity for Kelly to work the team into a lather and for ND to burnish its rep with a win.

Once we were eliminated from BCS contention I ceased to care what bowl we end up with. Give me some middle of the road bowl against a softy so we can enjoy a bowl win and reward our seniors.

Unless a backdoor deal is struck, I don't think ND can get the Hawaii Bowl. But I could be way off. Right now its: MWC #5 vs. Conference USA #2.

Touche. I want to win as well, but like a Penn St. or a Nebraska. Wisconsin maybe? Something other than Houston that gets me a little more excited. We've been woefully outmatched in some larger bowls and have gotten curbstomped. None of us want that again.
