I do think season 9 was the worst (last season). When you go through the whole series, I feel like Kevin just ends up getting too dumb, just one of my complaints.

Absurd. The last season was by far the worst season.

I'll go to my death bed defending Season 9 of The Office.

The Jim and Pam stuff was a bit forced, but it also gave us two or three top-10 episodes. I also thought the series finale was one of the better series finales that's been done.

Lion mentioned Parks and Rec. Super great show. Very smart writing. I just started rewatching it with my GF (getting her into it). I forgot how different season 1 is compared to later seasons. Leslie is much more like Michael Scott in the first season, and that is almost frustrating

Season 1 is just bad. Very few redeemable points in those first 6 episodes. Luckily season 2 started pretty strong and got really good over the next few seasons.

It also had one of the best final seasons of any show in my opinion. They didn't drop any bombs or do any forced drama, they gave every fan what they wanted by showing them the entire lives of the characters going forward with a lot of very happy endings.

Kind of amazing comparing that show against HIMYM. HIMYM is a perfect example of betraying your audience in the last season. It's not a good look.

The way HIMYM concluded was atrocious.

The alternate ending that they wrote and considered would have been 100x better.

I liked what HIMYM was attempting, but they failed in execution. Overall it was bad.

What I didn't like about Parks and Rec was that towards the end, none of the main characters could seemingly fail in anything. I found it all rather boring.

That's it, someone must pay with their life. This statement simply cannot stand.

Oh no question was it fairly boring, but at that point most fans just liked the characters so much that seeing them succeed was a treat. P&R was such a sweet show (in the best and worst ways) that seeing anything but a fairy tale ending for everyone would have felt wrong. So they stuck with their shows theme and it worked.

That's why HIMYM, despite being a great show overall, had such a terrible ending. The main themes of the show were friendship/love/positive change over time/nostalgia. The show basically tucked you into a warm bed, read you a bedtime story, then dumped a bucket of ice water on your head at the very last second.

Spoiler: I mean, I'm okay with the mother dying, but to throw her away with a single line (and wasting a great actress too) was such a terrible move. Plus the whole Barney & Robin falling out thing was dumb as hell

Edit: smh, can't believe I have to whitetext a spoiler from a show that ended 4-5 years ago.

Bro you gotta spoiler warning that or something

SPOILER:

The death? Totally fine. Expected at that point.
Total regression of every character and apparent falling out of the gang: Not cool. Don't make me watch five years of Barney growing up and then take it away from me in ten minutes of screen time especially when its supposed to be the closure moment for the audience.

Never watched HIMYM but from what I could tell it was just a ten year long version of 'Definately, Maybe'

It's a great show. Has some of the best gut punch moments of any show I've ever watched.

It's a heartfelt comedy with a few of those moments sprinkled in correct?? I tend to like stuff like that, I'm a sentimental bastard truth be told... I mean my fav show ever is Wonder Years, which is prob all anyone needs to know about me....

Yeah Parks and Rec was great except it got too weird at the end. Just completed Peaky Blinders...liked that too.

Def a show near the top of my watch list... is it already 'done'?? I thought it was still going...

For those who have watched both, what should I prioritize more: Peaky Blinders or Boardwalk Empire???

Pretty much. The main thing that sets it apart from others, to me, is that the show writers do a really good job of playing with audience expectations and using the framing device of the show (that this is all set in the past and is subject to an unreliable narrator) in really unusual ways. There are a ton of really clever episodes that use the passage of time or the misremembrance of the main character for some very interesting twists.

You do have to get through the first season's humor, which is pretty normal for these shows where the writers haven't figured everyone out yet (and isn't nearly as bad as P&R's first season), and you also have to get used to the god awful laugh track, which I'm pretty sure they turn way down at some point but never get rid of completely.

"Dwight Christmas" and "AARM" are top-10 episodes for me.

I might also include "Finale" because of Dwight's bachelor party.

Dwight's wedding
Dwight: "Michael....I can't believe you came."

Michael: "That's what she said."

Also

Michael: [crying] I feel like all my kids grew up and then they married each other. It’s every parent’s dream.

Chuck Bass is a pimp. Dan Humphrey is the OG hipster.

Blair Waldorf can get it. I wouldn't throw Serena van der Woodsen out of bed.

That show is the tits.

Boardwalk Empire and it's not close.

did you watch boardwalk empire on a Netflix (binge watch/oon demand watch...or on hbo (waiting for new seasons, next weeks episode in season).

I think the whole binge watch Netflix style vs waiting for new seasons, weeks between episodes can have an impact on the overall viewer experience.

I gave up on boardwalk empire with all the time between seasons, same thing with ray Donovan. people lose interest.
could have never began walking dead when was on amc but binge watching it, no commercials on Netflix was great.
