Envious of you who don't have this bullsh!t rattling around in your brain:

My mother-in-law couldn't afford cable growing up, so my wife felt deprived of all the Disney shows she never got to watch. After we got married, I was subjected to a solid 5-years of High School Musical, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, etc. Must have been penance for the sins of my dissolute youth.

Those were the peak Disney years for my son and can answer many questions about Disney and Nickelodeon shows during that time frame

Big Zac Efron guy. Have you seen Neighbors? Dude is the man. If anyone here doesn’t admit they wish they were Zac Efron they are lying.

This.

Anyone need a more serious role? Watch Charlie St. Cloud or Lucky One (Nicholas Sparks movie). He's also great in That Awkward Moment.

At episode 8 of The Punisher. I worried that the show would get s little far fetched and unbelievable, but so far it has been excellent. For the most part it is unpredictable and each episode has been very engaging.

Stranger Things 2 > Stranger Things

May be recency bias, but it doesn’t really matter because the show is nearly perfect.

Dickhead Billy is the new Red Ranger in the Saban Power Rangers reboot via film franchise. Dacre Montgomery. As a 90’s kid who watch MMPR every day after school, I approve. He was cast to be the “leader,” and fills the role in a good but different way. The franchise is grown up, just like the kids who were watching it in the 90’s. I recommend it just for the experience if you have any familiarity or experience with MMPR. But even if you don’t, it’s really just an entertaining film. My wife loved it, and she never watched MMPR growing up.

Back to Stranger Things 2:

SPOILERS

Fuck yeah Steve Harrington. Superior character development, and a well-executed u-turn from what we thought he was. In season one, he was a borderline-shithead and horndog, as is expected for BMOC. In Season 2, he’s clearly seen some things, and it changes him for the better as more responsibility is put on his shoulders with each episode. Good shit.

Max and the struggle for her relation/inclusion with the group was also handled perfectly. These kids are dealing with end-of-the-world shit... but they ARE still kids. The conflict surrounding her character felt natural, despite the big picture stuff happening around them.

Episode 7 was useful for showing Eleven what she needs to be, but I thought it was setting up for a grand “Love > Hate” reveal, where she would try to close the gate with her hate flashbacks, it wouldn’t work, and then she’d need to recall her new, feel-good memories of Mike and Hopper to do it. Missed a big opportunity there, but maybe that’s JK Rowling’s fault for stealing that mechanism via the way Patronus spells work. Instead, it felt like ep7 was just setting up a weak Lost Boys reboot in the future.

Hopper is that dude.

God bless Bob/Rudy/Samwise.

Thought for sure the doctor getting bit was gonna set up a cliffhanger where he was a new gate for the Upside Down.

What did that final frame mean? Shadow Bro is just watching and waiting directly over/under them?

Can confirm.

One quibble, much of the storyline is not believable in that, there is a one man wrecking crew who is able to mow through any resistance presented to him.

But if you go into it giving the show license to tell it's story, it's largely gratifying at the conclusion. (At least if you have some repressed rage)

I look forward to season two.

Well it is a comic book show and considering it exists in the same universe as a blind guy who wears a red costume and beats people up I'm willing to suspend my disbelief that Marine (oohfuckingrah) can get wreck sh*t all on his own.

Understood but saying it's not far fetched is a gross understatement. It doesn't bask in absurdity but it teeters on the unbelievable throughout it's entirety.

Still, I enjoyed the first season.

I see it much differently. He can wreak havic given a chance to plan as he did in DD2 but we see his limitations when he is being hunted or hiding. He completed his mission in btw DD2 and P1. This whole season is about figuring out who is who and what is what and discovering Frank's dichotomy of justice and punishment versus society. The wife and family expos s Frank's human side. I think its been great. At no point have I suspected Frank as doing anything outlandish. I really like the hacker buddy as a sidekick.

Punisher was great. Obviously it's not believable with the body counts and the interactions with law enforcement, but it's more believable than a guy with a glowing fist or dude whose skin doesn't break.

Kinda spoilerish

That scene where the bad guy became jigsaw almost made me want to vomit. That's some brutal shit.
