I'm sure she won't be creeped out and she'll be persuaded to bang you when you say, "Hey, would you mind wearing your 80's costumes from that show you're on."

"Babe please cover up your gross arms with a nice thick sweater so I can bang you."

as someone else mentioned, does it pick up? i gave full attention to 1st episode but was not going to be able to give it 100% as i was doing some work and didn't want to miss anything however i did feel it was rather slow however the topic is right up my alley

I really can’t say it has picked up but for some reason I am hooked. I started it Sunday and am almost done with the season.

I'm about 1/2 way through Manhunt (note: different from Mindhunter) and am thoroughly enjoying it. It's the Unabomber story.

Loved Manhunt. One of my favorite shows I've ever seen (and certainly from a stand-alone perspective). Funny too, because we all know what happens in the story, so I didn't think it would be all that compelling.

Mindhunter is good. I'm 4 episodes in. It's definitely compelling. I have a feeling that come the finale, I'm going to absolutely love it...or be thoroughly disappointed.

I have 2 episodes left on Stranger Things 2. It's ok. Slower paced than S1, but still good. This sort of genre isn't normally my thing, but I've enjoyed it since the pilot. Looking forward to finishing it up and seeing what goes down in the last two episodes.

I'm also watching Stranger Things Season 2. I'm 5 episodes in, and my only real complaint so far is that I don't see Eleven f*cking shit up enough

Agreed. That's a big gripe for me too. I have a lot more, but I'll wait until 1) I've finished the season and 2) more people have had a chance to watch.

House of Cards was already supposed to end with Season 6, but that is officially official now that everyone found out that Kevin Spacey is more than just the average Hollywood pervert.

(That's not a comment on him being gay. Gay is fine. Perving on kids is a different thing.)

So I looked at my episode list wrong and turns out I had 4 episodes remaining. Which makes a whoooole lot more sense. Last half of the season is pretty damn good. I have just the finale left at this point.

That show was well beyond due for it's termination. It got really bad and desperate.

Yeah, season 5 was garbage. Bad writing, bad shifts between storylines, unbelievable plot points based on what had previously been established, etc.

I hope they close strong... they could really pull out a bunch of shocking stuff in every episode if they wanted to, now that we know it's ending. The legacy of the Underwoods either needs to be erased or set in stone forever, and either direction will require some heavy shit to go down. They can't just let it fizzle.

However, with Spacey probably blackballed, he probably gets written out of the last half of the show (unless he was scheduled to die early in the season anyway, which is plausible), and we probably get a mailed-in closure that focuses on Claire.

The show is at its best when Frank Underwood is seeing red and out to destroy... but they got too far away from that in order to show "dysfunction" and "drama."

The Week's Gracy Olmstead just published an article titled "The refreshing heroes of Stranger Things 2":

WARNING-- SPOILERS BELOW

We live in an age of antiheroes. From House of Cards to The Americans, Deadpool to Suicide Squad, most popular films and television shows are headlined by the controversial, the morally shadowy, and the jaded. We've traded relatively lighthearted shows like Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond for Breaking Bad and The Leftovers. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Dark shows can be great! But it does suggest that a lot of Americans are disillusioned about their world, and looking for characters who reflect their own cynicism.

Thankfully, Stranger Things 2 offers something completely different. (And beware: Spoilers lie ahead.)

In a world of antiheroes, the hit Netflix show, which debuted its second season over the weekend, presents us with an astounding array of big-hearted and virtuous characters, protagonists who put themselves at risk to help the vulnerable.

One hero in Stranger Things 2 is Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder). She is a ferociously loving, protecting mom — one whose past bouts with trauma and danger have made her stronger and more resilient. In the first season, Joyce felt mentally and physically fragile. This season, there's no such tenuousness about her: Joyce is all steel and spine. About halfway through the season, as Joyce fights off a team of scientists to protect her son, I realized that she is the mom we all aspire to be. She epitomizes the Shakespearean saying that "though she be but little, she is fierce." It's a testament to Ryder's abilities as an actress that Joyce can be all this, and yet still feel messy and real.

Then there's Jim Hopper (David Harbour). Last season, he was an anti-hero: dealing with his own trauma, too drunk or cynical to grasp the immensity of the supernatural problem his town was dealing with. By the end of the first season, Hopper was facing his own fears and regrets, slowly coming into his own. In this season, though he's imperfect, Hopper follows the pattern of a hero: not just via noble deeds, but also through small interactions — like when he apologizes to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) for upsetting her, or when he comforts Joyce after she loses Bob. In one scene, he guides a troop of defenseless followers through a building filled with "demogogs" (fledgling demogorgons), all the while carrying an unconscious Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) on his back. This is Hopper at his best.

Season two's most lauded hero will likely be Bob Newby (Sean Astin), Joyce's new boyfriend. He begins as a meek, underwhelming nerd. He ends the season as our protagonists' savior, a character who sacrifices himself for the good of the group. Bob, perhaps more than any other character, is uncomplicatedly good. He is nice to his very core, often bordering on boring or embarrassing. Yet we still love him, and mourn his gruesome end. This is right in Astin's wheelhouse as an actor, akin to the Rudy and Samwise Gamgee characters we've seen him play before. He's the understated hero, the one we overlook until the very end.

But adults aren't the only ones who wear the mantle of heroism. Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) puts himself at risk, time after time, to ensure the safety of the youngsters around him. He comes to Dustin's rescue after he encounters a baby demogorgon, leads a troop of terrified preteens through a life-threatening maze of events, and keeps everyone safe with a swing of his nail-studded baseball bat. He's not the hero we expect — but he's the hero this season needs.

Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) are also heroes in their own right. They put themselves in jeopardy to bring justice to Barb, last season's overnight sensation and notorious casualty. Nancy steers herself directly into the dangerous fray, wielding both rifle and hot poker. Jonathan constantly cares for and protects his younger brother, trying to help him find healing from his trauma.

Last but not least, we have Eleven. Millie Bobby Brown gave a stunning performing in Stranger Things last season. She was, much like Hopper, both antihero and hero. This season, we see her struggling with both past and present woes, succumbing to rebellion and resentment, and battling inner demons. But even though she begins the season in turmoil, she progresses to a point of determination and courage — and of love.

Co-creator Matt Duffer told Time's Daniel D'Addario earlier this year that Stranger Things isn't "nasty or mean or condescending or ironic or any of those things, which a lot of content can be right now." He added that "there's just so much of that. And there's a lot of shows about protagonists doing really nasty things to other people."

Aside from some pretty nasty violence and bullies, there's little nastiness about Stranger Things 2. It is dark, sure enough — bleak, even. But its protagonists are sincere, loyal, and courageous in a way we all aspire to be.

We already know Stranger Things is a show about nostalgia. It's an ode to Stephen King and Steven Spielberg, Alien and The Goonies, 80's songs and pop culture. But the show's quality cast of heroes is perhaps the most nostalgic thing about it. It reminds us of the heroic characters we truly looked up to as kids — the Aragorns and Jane Eyres, Spidermans and Nancy Drews. It reminds us of uncomplicated stories of good vs. evil, light vs. darkness, heroism vs. villainy. In a sense, it's deeply comforting. But that doesn't prevent it from alsoStr being inspirational. Virtue, when portrayed well, tends to be just that. It doesn't have to be smarmy.

Stranger Things has done an excellent job "handing down" some treasures of the past — reminding us of the glories of a past decade's cinematography, music, apparel, food, and even fonts. It's breathed new life into old tropes and traditions.

But this season, Stranger Things reminds us what heroic characters ought to look like. And honestly, they don't look all that bad.

Finished Mindhunter last night. I was neither of the above bolded. My GF and I were both pretty "meh" on it. Liked the show overall, but it's not something that came close to entering into the upper echelon of shows or anything like that.

Doubt it ends up happening. The few times they've planned on taking a comedy show off that people love to rewatch the internet flips out as the deadline approaches and eventually Netflix relents. It has happened with the Office and Friends.

Finished it last night. Very good overall. I think my favorite part is just knowing this whole series /story could be a made up D&D quest by anyone of the real past dungeon masters out there.

What I mean is it is written as, and the characters behave, just as if you were rolling D20s to make a choice in a real D&D game

Steve Harrington, you the real MVP.

SPOILERS BELOW

Steve needs to get Nancy back from that nerd Jonathan Byers. Nancy deserves a real man. Steve-o, on top of having the most 80's name ever, represents all that is great about the 80's. I bet he is a Reagan fan. On top of being all that is 80's high school man, Steve also puts the team on his back and mentors Dustin into being a smooth criminal. While Dustin's new talent with the ladies did not manifest itself this season, you can bet your ass he's gonna be getting tail on a regular basis by the end of the series.

Billy! This dog dang near got Nancy's (hot) mom out of her robe while her husband was sleeping in the same freakin' room, not to mention he chainsmokes while getting his pump on. A man's man. He's the "sandlot" athlete of the 80's. You see him punk King Steve in gym class? WOW. If you look up Ladykiller in the encyclopedia, it has a picture of this guy. I hope he plays a role in the future. His hair alone is the stuff of legend. No doubt if the mullet down at Okie Lite had this unkept George Michael look, he'd have led his team to victory in Bedlam today.

Nancy, you are a godess. Please don't sell yourself short. This Byers kid better just be a phase. He's a clown. Legit has no business even looking at you, much less having the nerve to feel comfortable naked in your presence. Go back to Steve. He's a stand up guy, clearly has matured from spray painting the marquee at the local theater. If you aren't into Steve, then take some time to find yourself or whatever it is women call it. But for Pete's sake, get rid of the weirdo. It's unbecoming.

Will, you suck. Go away. Just kidding. We need to keep you around so more shit happens in Hawkins. You are basically Ted Mosby. I don't like you. But I need you for the time being.

rudy, rudy, rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY!
