Was this the deer? Or am I confusing two different posters?? Anyway, if Nuet was the deer, probably the most uncomfortable, or just flat out odd, exchange I've ever had on this site was with him... I mentioned how I grew up with a close Mormon friend, and he and his family attended BYU. I thus always rooted for BYU and said so in some game chat years back... My DMS blew up with messages from him (and I wasn't even exchanging dialogue with him, he just PMd me randomly about it) about how Mormons are a dangerous murder cult, how they've been hunting him for years, and he can't leave his house... I thought it was a missed attempt at humor at first, but he continued to message me strange things. I forgot the exact details of everything, but stuff about how they steal his mail, kill his pets, and leave them for him to find, and they do this stuff all over the country.... just stalk and murder people like him.... and I need to not root for BYU and need to cut ties to my Mormon friend or they'll come for me,... That honest to goodness may have been the first use of the ignore feature for me if I remember right,....

My experience with Neutered was different and far more civil. He and I exchanged many posts, even off site. Neutered had serious health issues which "doomed" him to a lot of hard times, and IE was a place where he came to occupy time and occasionally enjoy himself. He was, however, a bit of an alcoholic and when drinking was explosive. This often happened on game chats. My ongoing conversations with him indicated to me that his state of mind fluctuated between modestly happy times and terribly depressed times. Even in the latter, we had civilized exchanges because I did not judge anything and "let nonsense go" without further comment.

Frankly, I liked him. It appeared that he was a guy who had been dealt a very tough hand (note his handle as more meaningful than you might think, re: say, cancer or some such) and was doing what he could to engage life. I remember a time period when he and an IEer with a handle somehow incorporating "Reggie Bush" were having an apparently violent hatred set of exchanges. Some of us responded as to the depth of this and could we help. He said (almost a quote): "It Cool [putting on a street accent]. Reggie's just some South Bay kind of guy. They some bad Mo-Fos." ... and that was that. So, Neutered? Yep. Hard to deal with lots of time. But down inside a good guy with a world of troubles.

I also had some good chats with him 10+ years ago too, thanks for sharing some insight.

What happened to most of these guys? STL, NDinLA, IronMan8, GB, etc; I know I’m probably missing a handful.

There are a bunch of posters that were around that consistently contributed good stuff, then they just disappeared.

The guy you just responded to is STL.

NDinLA left in a blaze and was banned for awhile, then came back a few times, and then stopped.

Ironman8 I really don't remember if anything happened. I think he just stopped posting one day.

GB I think got banned, but don't remember the circumstances there.

Wooly left and didn't return.

Buster left but is back now.

Dshans left in the website makeover. I hope he's doing well.

Irish YJ was an everyday guy and he suddenly stopped. Same with GKIrish.

Terry, Goldenisthyfame and HereComeTheIrish all left around the same time. Those were big losses.

Wiz pops in occasionally but largely stepped away. Was very active in the playoffs so I'm hoping he returns if we have another run this year.

Whiskey stopped posting after he went on the Peterson retreat (as if I needed another reason to dislike that guy).

Most of those OGs were already trending downwards as far as posting goes, then the new site came and in came the loud Gen Zers which made the site almost unbearable during its earlier stages.
I think those OGs took that opportunity to break ties. At least that’s how I took it, upon their lack of existence since.
